What's the process if you're a superhero and you come out as trans

Do you tell your villains?

Do you keep it a secret so no one can connect Spider-Man with your secret identity for a while? Or do you pop a pronouns pin on your costume and the next time you web up Doctor Octopus and he goes "I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME SPIDER-MAN" you go "Spider-Girl actually! I've been figuring out some shit"

*grabs your hands and speaks to you in a tone that is so gentle* they/them pronouns stop being universal once you learn a person's pronouns. Sometimes that person's pronouns will include they/them and in that specific case you are allowed to keep using those pronouns for that person. In any case where you learn a persons pronouns and that person doesn't use they/them, you should no longer use those pronouns for that person. If you continue to use they/them pronouns knowing that person doesn't use them, you are now misgendering that person. Kindly stop doing that please. Thank you, I love you.

if anyone asks about your religion or lack thereof, keep it vague. this administration will look for any excuse to persecute you.

your friends are trans or queer? for the next four years they’re not. don’t expose anyone’s status as a trans or queer person to anyone else, even if you think you can trust them.

did someone you know get an abortion? no, they didn’t. they were never pregnant.

in short, don’t be a snitch, and keep to yourself these next four years. we’ll make it through this even if it seems hopeless at times.

we can survive this. we’ve survived before, and we’ll survive again.

I’m glad they didn’t make Guy completely stupid or useless, and especially, that he does care about doing good. Yeah he was his usual self but you can really tell that he knows what he’s doing and that he’s confident for a reason, especially in a part towards the ending where his mere presence deters an army (along with some helping hands). This is peak Guy Gardner characterization.

One thing I liked about this Superman movie-

And I'm aware this is probably more of a logistics issue than a deliberate theme or whatever-

But I liked how often when he was saving people, he let them save themselves. He could have just grabbed them and moved them out of the way, but he didn't. Like, he'll stop the building from falling on you, but you have to drive your car out of the way. He'll stop the giant monster foot for a moment but you have to keep running and get to safety. He'll help you but you can't give up, you have to keep trying!!!!

Just saw Superman, absolutely loved it. Fully embraced the corniness and zaniness of the Silver Age with a modern execution and I love Comic Book zaniness so I fully support movies embracing it. Some further points:

1) the plot feels like a story arc I’d actually read, down to the way the inclusion of the other heroes was written. Luthor’s characterisation is on point, Guy Gardner feels in character without being overly assholish which is a difficult balance with him, Clark’s ideals are translated great.

2) MR TERRIFIC MY GUY. He has been one of my faves in the comics for a while and I was terrified they’d fuck him up BUT THEY DIDNT. He wasn’t a glorified cameo they made him plot relevant, they remembered to give him a personality whilst maintaining his intelligence and aloof vibes, absolute peak I hope this movie makes him more popular with the wider audience we need more Terrific content PLEASE DC GODS.

All in all I recommend if you have the money to see it in cinemas please do it’s worth it.

lois lane my beloved

This is, in my opinion, the most important thing to remember when portraying a good Superman/Lois Lane dynamic:

Superman is everyone's hero.

Lois Lane is Superman's hero.

ANOTHER thing about Martha and Jonathan Kent. Their house is so normal. In movies we always see the enormous very nice old farm house with two maybe 3 floors. That kind of thing comes from very old money generally. Passed down. But the average farmer? It ranges but generally where I grew up it was one story flat houses with rusted benches and cars that haven't moved in decades.

Even the house and the creaky door brings the Kent's down to reality. Because a majority of us that grew up in prairies and farms know those kinds of houses and old broken cement tiles in the early morning that never got replaced. Than we do massive 3 story houses and red barns and 60 horses. Some people do but those are big business wealthy farmers generally.
