Here’s the breakdown of this scene with the added buildings to the skyline.

Coping a building and creating a mask behind the foreground to give the illusion of its placement. Also fully graded to fit in with the environment.

Here is the same footage tracked within PFTrack which I thought tracked the footage relatively well, especially after some added stabilisation.

Here are some more isolated buildings I want to put within the scene

Here’s some stabilised footage I shot to experiment on with various building additions and set extensions to see if I can create a new realistic skyline

Here is a track I did with the added building, the image is fully graded to the actual environment and I feel like the track was pretty successful and the roto/masking came out pretty convincing as well!

I wanted to try adding a building to the scene so I found a basic image off of google, isolated it and removed its background so I could work with a singular image to grade and track with.

Here is a quick AE track I did with the footage I took previously to see how well the tracker would work with the current footage.

This is a quick starter shot I filmed within the Atrium to begin seeing what I could do with Pyro and set extension effects. I filmed on a Canon 300D with a stabiliser. I kind of do like how the shot actually turned out and I’m excited to see what I can actually do with it.

I looked into some existing examples of set extension and the various uses for it and the actual methods that go into the method of creating and implementing matte paintings before I actually begin to delve into set extensions and changes

Here is a rough storyboard of what I hopefully plan to finally shoot! I want to focus on some environment extension and some inclusion of pyro simulations within the track!

Here I upped the resolution of the simulation, and changed some of the buoyancy and smoke settings to produce a realistically moving flame effect within the simulation itself.

Here is another test I ran with much more detail and adjustments made to the actual simulation. Here you can see the simulation is much more fluid and interesting to view, with slightly more detail than the prior tests.

This was the first test I did using Houdini Pyro. I was surprised by the complexity of effects I could achieve with this piece of software and the easiness of use once you get to know your way around the basics of software.
