Torres is impressive about America

This will be the second successive summer Fernando Torres has visited America on work duty, having represented Spain against United States in Boston last year.

That day, the European Championship Golden Boot winner netted the final goal in a 4-0 win for his country, and we now look forward to visits to Seattle, New York, Philadelphia and Miami, the latter also a previous holiday destination for Torres, who feels that while America trails in terms of its standards of football, it leads the way when it comes to putting on an event.

'We had a game against USA in Boston, which was very impressive. They put on a very good show and it's something we have to try to learn in Europe,' the 28-year-old told us.

'It will be great to go there again - in America it is so impressive the way they organise events and put on a huge show, soit's great to see the difference from football games in Europe. Everything is done to make the fans part of the day and a part of the event.'

There is also another reason why Torres is so interested in the trip. As a huge fan of the band Nirvana, Seattle holds a special place in his heart.

'I am a big Nirvana fan, they're from Aberdeen near Seattle, so it's a place I would like to see,' he said. 'There are a lot of punk rock groups that started their careers there, so the place is a big influence on the rest of the genre.

'I like Pearl Jam too who are from there, and from further south I am a big fan of Incubus and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.'

Before he can consider the prospects of downtime on tour however, the player who is now a European champion at both club and international level, will be enjoying some holiday time away from the game. It has been well earned.

Torres wins Euro 2012 Golden Boot award!

                 The 28-year-old scored three goals, with his third coming in the 4-0 win over Italy in Sunday's final. Torres' other strikes both came during the 4-0 group stage win against the Republic of Ireland. Six strikers scored three goals at Euro 2012, but Chelsea striker Torres took the award by virtue of having provided one assist and his goals coming in just 189 minutes of playing time. The decisive that lifted Torres to Golden Boot winner came in the 88th minute against Italy as he squared a ball for substitute Juan Mata to score. The other players to finish on three goals were Italy's Mario Balotelli, Alan Dzagoev of Russia, Germany's Mario Gomez, Croatia's Mario Mandzukic and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo. Torres' goal against Italy also made him the first player to score in two European Championship finals. Also the Chelsea player is the most prolific spanish striker in european championships, with five goals.
