the US really bombed iran last night. like fully, openly, no shame, no hesitation. just dropped fucking bombs on a country full of people like it’s nothing. like it’s fun. and you know what’s coming next, right? in five years max there’ll be a hollywood movie about it. some blonde soldier with ptsd crying about how hard it was for him to murder a million iranians and arabs. how he “didn’t mean to” drop the drone strike on a wedding or a school or a hospital. how he’s the real victim.
fuck that. fuck them. fuck every last piece of this rotten, bloodthirsty empire that lives off killing brown people and calling it democracy. how many times do we have to say it? how many bodies will be “collateral damage” before people admit the US and israel are the real axis of evil? they kill, they lie, and then they cry on camera and give themselves oscars for it. meanwhile our people are in pieces, our cities turned to ash, and our grief is ignored unless it makes a good plot twist.
no, i don’t give a shit about “both sides.” i don’t want peace with monsters. the US and israel can burn for what they’ve done and what they keep doing. they deserve every ounce of anger we throw at them.

a lot of ppl who bitch about the loneliness crisis and blame it all on capitalism yet also don’t want to put in the energy to reciprocate friendships, refuse to go outside bcuz its too much work, and then act confuse why all the third places are being shutdown now that there’s zero financial incentive to keep the place open.
the amount of times i see ppl complain about this and it the same breath be like “oh i hate going out, its too much work. why do i want to waste time at a bar and drink like other dumb idiots.” or men particularly do this where they say, “the only ppl i can stand is my wife and kids” while crying about how no one cares about men and that men aren’t allowed to have deep friendships. like no matter what systematic shit is going on, it doesn’t prevent YOU as an individual from being a good friend. at least try to make an effort, try to grow your current friendships without treating them like a burden. its not cringey to care about your friends and your friends are “toxic codependent narcs” for wanting to hang out with you + return emotional investment into their friendship.

“Am I the only one who—” yes. You’re all alone. And nobody shares your experiences or loves you. And you’re floating on a raft in a dark ocean and there’s sharks and squids trying to get you and lightning is crashing and the water is choppy and black

Enjoyed this essay by Diana Wynne Jones on the difference between writing for adults and writing for children:
To take the most obvious first: I found myself thinking as I wrote, "These poor adults are never going to understand this; I must explain it to them twice more and then remind them again later in different terms." Now this is something I never have to think when I write for younger readers. Children are used to making an effort to understand. They are asked for this effort every hour of every school day and, though they may not make the effort willingly, they at least expect it. In addition, nearly everyone between the ages of nine and fifteen is amazingly good at solving puzzles and following complicated plots - this being the happy result of many hours spent at computer games and watching television. I can rely on this. I can make my plots for them as complex as I please, and yet I know I never have to explain them more than once (or twice at the very most).

Reporter: Why do you think so many countries’ governments around the world are just ignoring what’s happening in Gaza?
Greta Thunberg: Because of racism, that’s the simple answer, I would say. Racism, and basically desperately trying to defend a deadly, destructive system that systematically maximizes short term economic profit and geopolitical power over the well being of humans and the planet. Right now, it is morally difficult to defend that – it is impossible— but they’re desperately trying which is …. absurd is not the word, but there are no words to describe it.

And here, we have Benjamin Netanyahu in 2002 telling us to invade Iraq because Saddam is building nuclear weapons.
And now that he successfully helped guide George Bush into devastating Iraq, Netanyahu continues on with his three decades old lie about Iran.
Netanyahu’s lies about Iran’s nuclear capacity since 1992
1992 - 1995
Iran is “three to five years" away from reaching nuclear weapons capability.”
1996
Iran is a “global threat” and that “The deadline for attaining this goal (preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon) is getting extremely close.”
2005
Iran's nuclear ambitions “must be stopped.”
2007
In an interview with CNN, he claims that “Iran is racing to arm itself with atomic bombs.”
2009
Netanyahu tells a US congressional delegation that Iran is “probably one or two years away” from reaching nuclear weapons capability. Later that year, he says, “Iran has the capability now to make one bomb,” adding that alternatively, “they could make several bombs in a year or two.”
2010
“The greatest danger facing Israel and the world is the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran.”
2012
Netanyahu says Iran has only a “few months” — possibly a “few weeks” — to have enough nuclear enrichment for an atomic weapon.

2013
Iran “continues to create" nuclear weapons.
2023
In an interview with Iran International, Netanyahu claims that Tehran is “dangerous moving forward” with its nuclear program and is nearing “red lines.”
2025
Netanyahu warns that Iran is “only days away from enriching uranium to weapons-grade levels.”
NO.

Like I know we flee here from the smouldering ruin of our civilisation at the moment but I as a mid-40s year old need you guys to know
Netanyahu has been saying Iran is close to nuclear weapons for 30 years
He has wanted a war with Iran that whole time
The "they have nuclear weapons" was the reason the allied west invaded and flattened Iraq in 2003 and it also turned out to be a lie
Tulsi Gubbard who is the head of US Intelligence signed a statement less than two weeks ago confirming it is America's belief that Iran is not currently pursuing nuclear weapons
Talks between the US and Irani delegation were expected to take place on Sunday, and the Irani lead negotiator was interviewed as saying he felt positively about the possibility of a new deal
Netanyahu bombed Iran and killed that exact negotiator on Friday.
There is heaps of footage of Netanyahu claiming Iraq had WMD/nukes, he was a lead proponent of the war on Iraq.
History is fucking repeating and it is MADDENING. I was at protests against the Iraqi invasion in 2002/2003. We all knew there were no nukes. US and Israel wanted regime change in Iraq anyway so they could install puppets and that's exactly what they're doing in Iran.
People will study this period in history and go, "WHY DID NO ONE STOP NETANYAHU AND ISRAEL IN GAZA, IRAN AND THE WIDER MIDDLE EAST? WHY DID THE MEDIA NOT COMMENT ON THE FACT ISRAEL HAS NUKES AND HASN'T SIGNED A TREATY BUT IS CLAIMING TO BE UPSET ABOUT A FICTIONAL SITUATION WHERE OTHER COUNTRIES ARE APPARENTLY DOING THE SAME?"

What about Squid Game - Palestinian Edition?
My friend Fadel explains the terror he experienced through comparison to the show Squid Game:
"The game begins: If you hear gunfire? Drop to the ground immediately! Don't make any movement because the sniper is waiting for you to move to shoot you. You are not allowed to make mistakes. You are not allowed to breathe loudly. You only have 5 minutes to run before you're killed. But the prize isn't millions of dollars. The prize is just a kilo of flour! It's not fiction. This is Gaza in 2025."
Fadel and his brothers recently traveled together to an aid site, hungry and desperate for food. "We were surprised to find thousands of people there, an army and snipers. All the time they're shooting at us 😭😭"
Fadel recounted, "I saw many martyrs die in front of my eyes. Unfortunately we fled and were not able to take any food or anything. Now we have nothing to eat. A bag of flour costs 800 euros, a kilo of sugar costs 100 euros, a kilo of tomatoes costs 50 euros, and a liter of milk costs 80 euros. What's worse is that my medication is about to run out. I don't know what to do. Should I spend my surgery money to buy medicine and food to eat, or what?"
Fadel is not a story. His future is not fated or scripted or set in stone. The way his life unfolds is entirely dependent on the social systems around him and the decisions of people who have resources, especially people like us who are not in active genocide, who get access to income every couple weeks or every month without having to risk our lives.
What you can do:
Donate any amount you can to his campaign
Make a post about Fadel to share his story and encourage others to donate
Share this post with your followers
Send him a kind message at @fadel-dani and offer your friendship
His campaign is vetted by: @gazavetters list (#197) and @90-ghost and @a-shade-of-blue.
He is an incredibly kind person, and he deserves relief from this waking nightmare. Please help him.

thinking about when my professor told me how the boards of companies/orgs/etc. will sometimes hire on a CEO/whatever who they know will basically take a chainsaw to existing infrastructure, let them fuck as much shit up as possible, and then promptly fire them as soon as they've accomplished what the board wanted them to do. then they can point the finger at that guy & look like they're the heroes and the problem is resolved because he's gone now. and they still get to keep all the changes they wanted that nobody else did.
anyway I think it's fun and all to watch the two most divorced men on the planet publicly divorce each other. and also. maybe keep that in mind, is all.
