I’m so glad that The Dragon Prince is passing on the same trauma to the next generation of kids that I got from watching Jurassic Park at 6 years old.

PSA that I didn’t think I would have to make but here we are… (this actually happened at work today)

Do not ever tell your veterinarian that “If you won’t see my dog/cat/other pet today I’m just going to shoot it”. This is unacceptable for the following reasons:

1.) while gunshot is an acceptable form of euthanasia, it is only to be used in extreme situations where the animal would be in immense suffering for the time it would take to seek veterinary care. Example: animal that is hit by car/farming equipment etc and suffering visible massive trauma and likely won’t survive a trip to the vet office

2.) You are threatening violence upon your animal as a way to guilt trip veterinarians into seeing you. This is emotionally abusive behavior. You are not being turned away because we want your animal to suffer, but because we are not equipped or staffed to give your animal the care it deserves at this time. Emergency clinics are expensive, but they exist to provide care when general practice clinics cannot.

3.) This will likely not give you the response you want. We are not responsible for any criminal decisions you make regarding your pet, and we are less likely to reward threats with the exam you seek. More likely, we will call animal welfare and inform them of the situation.

4.) If the inconvenience of not being seen short notice is enough to make you want to shoot your animal, perhaps you shouldn’t own pets.

I was talking about Dragon Age with someone irl and at one point mentioned I didn’t like how much Inquisition made you side with the Chantry and when they asked me why I said something along the lines of “I really don’t like the Chantry, Anders was right” before I remembered what a controversial statement that second part is…. It got awkward.

But… I still stand by it.
