Pouty (Roman Godfrey Imagine)
Request: Can I request some soft Roman Godfrey? He’s all pouty cause you aren’t giving him attention but he’s shy about asking for it 😭
Authors note: you must know my weakness….SOFT ROMAN!!!
———
You had been EXTREMELY busy lately and hadn’t had very much time for your boyfriend. You felt bad about it and you knew, but he was also busy. It was senior year of high school, everyone was busy. You just thought he would run around with Peter or something.
You normally were at Roman’s house every second possible, but that had proven to be impossible as your english paper had been looming over your head for the past week. It needed to be perfect for you to pull up your grade which had slipped due to hanging out with Roman all the time.
You had finally finished and were happy with it, so you decided to text Roman, ‘Can I come over?’ Normally you just showed up, but you hadn’t talked to him about his plans and didn’t even know if he’d be there.
‘Sure.’ That was all you got as a response. 20 minutes later. What an attitude. You shrugged it off and put on the bra that Roman liked to try and make up for your lack of attention towards him and off you went.
The door was unlocked when you got there, which was odd. Considering Roman always came to get you. Your feelings were a little bit hurt. You walked in and waved at Shelley, “Hey Shell, where’s Roman?”
She motioned towards his room and you nodded with a smile, trying to keep your happy face on. You’d ask her later if she knew what was going with her older brother.
You knocked on the door and pushed it open when Roman mumbled a response. He was sprawled across his bed, hair disheveled and his mouth puckered. He was also shirtless.
You didn’t know how to feel. You were slightly annoyed that he was treating you like this but also turned on. Roman just had that affect on you. “Ro, what’s wrong?” You asked, shutting the door behind you. Roman’s mom didn’t care about basically anything which was nice.
“Nothing.” He huffed, sitting up and crossing his arms. This pissed you off.
“Cut the shit.” You said, basically storming over to him and grabbing his jaw, “Tell me what’s wrong.” You and Roman often got physical with each other, not in a bad way, but the two of you were both explosive.
“Are you breaking up with me?”
Your heart sank with those words and your hand dropped. You sat down immediately, “No, of course not, Rome. Why would you think that?”
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his posture relaxing, “You’ve been distant this week. I thought I did something.”
You frowned, “I told you I had that paper. I’ve been drinking coffee for 5 days straight. I haven’t slept. I’m exhausted.” You looked into his eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me? I didn’t realize.”
Roman pulled you into his arms so that the two of you were laying down, “You know I hate asking you for shit, baby. It doesn’t feel manly either. I felt like a bitch.”
“You were acting like a pouty bitch.” You giggled.
“Hey.” He scowled, but his face lit up into a smirk, “You know you love me pouty and needy.” You bit your lip and nodded at him. His hand went to your sweatshirt and pushed it up, showing the bra, “Ah who’s the needy one now. Knowing I can’t resist this bra.”
And there was your Roman. Back to normal.

Deadlines (Fluff)
Alright, listen… I don’t know why all of my fics lately revolve around person A overworking themselves and person B saving them, but ya know what? Maybe it’s my brain telling me to calm tf down and relax for .2 seconds.
And you cannot tell me that Roman Godfrey doesn’t do this, you can’t. It’s impossible. Try to- oh wait, you can’t.
Aight, I’ll stop.
Suggested by the inspiring and extremely relatable (literally, I feel everything you post on a spiritual level)
@anastasiaskarsgard (I’m sorry this couldn’t be much better :(💕)
Warnings: Language, I think? Extremely soft and sleepy Roman, if you came for anything else, I am sorry to disappoint
Roman Godfrey x Reader; Roman has been working himself night and day to make a specific deadline for his company, though that seems to become harder and harder for him
You knew better than to bother Roman when he was working at home. He couldn’t stand to bring work back, but when a deadline was approaching and he had no choice, he did. But even you could tell the stress he was putting on himself. Roman would walk through the door after work, hide away in his office to work, kiss you in the mornings, and repeat the cycle.
A cycle that had been going on for days.

Little Moments (Fluff)
I suddenly remember why I don’t write when I’m overtired. I’m not, like, mad at how this turned out, but it definitely isn’t Roman, if that makes sense?
Screw it, it’s cute and I need a cute Roman in my life.
Suggested by the delightful and beloved
@thoughtsbouncingaround Thank you for the Roman suggestion, baby! Sorry it’s trash. hope you enjoy regardless!💕
Warnings: Language, some lightly suggestive themes because it’s Roman and how could I not?
Roman Godfrey x Reader: (tried to keep this non-gender specific) having a lazy, sweet-nothings conversation with Roman always turns interesting.
“I wish you didn’t smoke so much,” you whine at your boyfriend, Roman.
“I wish you didn’t nag me about smoking so much,” came his reply.

Elvis Presley (MOVIE) x Reader
He can't keep his eyes off you. Your friend kept mumbling to you. The more he sang and the more he moved, more women in the room jumped up and screamed. But that didn't stop him from looking at you, a smirk plastered on his face.
You were one of the only girls that was still sitting and not screaming. Finally your friend got tired of seeing the two of you staring at each other so she stood up. "Come on!" She yells, grabbing your hand and yanking you onto your feet. "Wait what?" You yell, she ignores you and pushes through the crowd to get in front.
She didn't stop until you two were inches away from the stage, almost in front of him. You smiled and laughed as your friend screeched like the other girls. Finally at the end he reached into the crowd, the girls ripping off his jacket in the process. As the curtains closed he gave you one last look before disappearing. You noticed the jacket on the floor, the girls fighting over it so you jumped down to get it too.
You and your friend both pulled on it and eventually got it. You both ran out of the crowd and back to your seats. "I gotta give this back to Mr Presley." You say, your friend slightly huffs. "Of course you would. Can't just keep things for fun." You chuckle. "I'll be waiting in the car, don't take too long." You nodded.
You headed to the back of the building and lightly folded the jacket over your forearm, holding your hands together, and leaning against the cool wall. After a few minutes the door to the building opened and Elvis walked out. You snapped out of your thoughts and said, "Oh- Mr Presley?" He turned to you as you tapped his shoulder gently.
"I um.. I got your jacket back for you. It looked expensive." You shyly say as you hold it out for him to take it. He smiles, "Thank you." He says as he takes the jacket from you.
"Um... Those girls were crazy in there huh?" He shrugs. "Not everyone. I didn't see you going crazy." You chuckle. "I'm not one to go crazy over a man." You say with a grin. "Oh." He whispers with a smile, enough for you to hear him.
Suddenly there was a loud car horn in the front of the building, you rolled your eyes knowing it was your friend. "Sorry I have to go, my friend is waiting for me." You say before turning on your heel and walking down the alleyway. When you got to the end he called for you, "Hey." You turn to him. "What's your name?" He asks. You smile, "Y/N L/N." You say with a chuckle.
Your friend blared her horn again, you shot your head towards her and she threw her hands up in the air. "I'm coming I'm coming." You say annoyed, storming to the car and getting inside. "Why push me to go to him then be obnoxious hm?" You ask annoyed. "Curfew my friend." She says while pulling out.
Over the spur of a few months you read on the newspaper and saw on the tv that Elvis was getting quite famous, him getting his own mansion, new cars, new clothes, tours, etc. Even though you were happy for him you almost felt sad that you knew he had completely forgotten about you.
While you were sitting at home, watching tv, someone rang your doorbell. You got up and opened the door, meeting with a person standing on the steps of your porch. It was dark and they were facing away from you, you couldn't make out who it was. "Um.. Can I help you?" You ask. "Yeah uh... I'm looking for a Y/N L/N." Your heart sank... You recognized that voice. You had listened to that voice for months on tv.
"Oh my god.." You mumble placing your hand on your stomach in shock. He then turns around and steps onto your porch, pointing at you. "Y'know how long it took to find you?" He says in a scolding tone but clearly joking. "The amount of places I called and visited." You laughed, you stared at him in shock and disbelief.
"You seem surprised." You laugh again. "Who wouldn't be? But in all honesty I thought you forgot me." You say. "Why would I forget you?" "Well y'know you're a big time musician now.. And I'm sure you've met other women like me on the road." You say, he gives you a confused look, tilting his head to the side slightly.
"If I met any other woman who was like you.. Would I be here?" You thought for a moment. "I guess not." You chuckled. "Y/N?" Who's at the door?" Your mother called from down the hall.
You looked at Elvis and grinned. "Elvis Presley." You say. Your mother got closer and when she saw the face of Elvis she screamed. You jumped and covered your mouth with your hand in embarrassment.
"What the hell is he doing out here in the cold Y/N?! Come in! Come in!" Your mother says while pushing past you, grabbing Elvis's wrist and pulling him inside. You silently cursed to yourself as you shut the door and slowly followed behind. Your mother placed him on the couch and you sat in a chair that was across from the couch.
"Would you like some coffee? I'll get you some coffee!" Your mother yells, not even letting Elvis get a word in. She quickly ran to the kitchen and you sighed to yourself.
"She's uh.. A big fan." You say, slightly annoyed. "I can tell." He says with a grin. It didn't take long for your mother to come rushing back out and place a mug on the coffee table in front of Elvis. "Oh wow this is just so exciting." Your mother says while holding onto her face in glee. "Mom, quit!" You whisper yelled to her as you smacked her legs and she smacked your hand away. "Oh you quit, just because you're not a fan doesn't mean you get to be rude." Elvis gave you a baffled look.
"You're not a fan?" "See, I never said that." You argued back. "Oh please, every time I turn on the tv and he's on it you turn red in the face and leave the room." Your mother says, throwing her hands in the air dramatically.
"I remembered I forced you to sit through a show and your leg was bouncing, your face was beat red and-" She stopped herself. "Ohhhhhh." She turned to you slowly, a huge grin on her face. "That's it. I'm an orphan." You say while turning away in your seat. "Oh hush, what girl in America doesn't have a thing for that handsome face." "Mama hush!" You yell, smacking her legs again and she smacks your knee in return.
You glanced at Elvis who thought this was the funniest thing. "And orphan? What about your father?" You roll your eyes. "Surprised he hasn't come down yet, since you screamed like you were being murdered." You say in annoyance. "Anyways..." Your mother says with the roll of her eyes, facing back to Elvis.
"What brings you here Mr Presley?" Your mother asks. "Oh uh.." You two made eye contact. "I came here for your daughter." He says while pointing to you slightly. Your mother goes back and forth looking at the two of you in confusion.
"Oh? And why's that?" She asks. "Well..." He stands up, you follow his action. "I wanted to ask your daughter..." He walks towards you and gently grabs your hand. "If she'd like to go on a date with me." You smile softly at him. "Oh my." Your mother squeals.
You thought for a moment. "Elvis Presley... You better make some room in your fancy boy schedule because.. You got yourself a date." You say. He smiles at you, you smile at him.
'Oh boy... What did I just get myself into.' You thought to yourself.

𝐅𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 | 𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐬!𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

summary: you’re hoping to make a good impression on your new boss. there’s just one problem: he’s an asshole. a very hot asshole.
pairings: boss!austin x employee!reader
word count: 2.2k
warning/notes: you guys have begged for more fake dating, so here it is. the beginning of what will be the end. this love story is adorable, and their dynamic is my absolute favorite. can't wait to post part three in the next week.
↰ previous part | next part ↱

“Well I heard he’s quite the looker.” Sophia mumbled under her breath, practically jogging to keep up with your long strides. The last thing you wanted was to be late for the big floor meeting, especially since you were about to be introduced to your new boss. That would be the icing on the shitty cake. Still, you refused to let this morning's parking ticket ruin your good mood.
“Who said that? Nobody aside from Jeff has seen him, and that was only to finalize his paperwork.” One of the plant's leaves slapped you in the face as you began climbing the stairs, and with a groan you tucked the pot a little closer to your side, freeing up your vision so that you wouldn’t fall forward and bust your ass. You had picked up a little welcome gift for the newbie last night during your trip to the grocery store. It was only once you had gotten home that you realized that the plant didn’t have any plastic marker that stated its “preferences”. You hoped your newfound boss wouldn’t mind doing some googling in order to take care of his new greenery. Thankfully the man would be getting one of the nicer offices, which meant he’d have window space.
“Martha from the first floor. She greeted him last week when he ran by to sign some papers.” Sophia was already out of breath from quickly climbing the stairs, muttering a few curse words as she tried to keep up with you and your fast pace.
Martha was also a fifty year old crazy cat lady, so her saying that the mystery man was “handsome” meant nothing to you. If anything you were even more suspect about his good looks than you had been before. You let out a breathy laugh, freeing up one of your hands to open up the door for your best friend.
“Martha also thinks that the mail delivery guy is a “looker”, and that guy has a receding hairline and buck teeth.” You were quick to fire back.
Sophia looked like she wanted to argue, but stopped herself, a thoughtful look befalling her face. “Yeah. . . no, you’re totally right. Why didn’t I think of that? He’s probably going to have two heads.”
You laughed loudly at that, turning to face your best friend as you continued the familiar walk to the conference room. “He’s probably bald- oof!” You grunted as you walked into a solid chest, the potted plant nearly flying out of your grasp.
The person that you bumped into moved lightening fast, strong arms coming to wrap around both the pot and your arms. A little bit of dirt fell on the ground, and as you stared down at it you began to feel sorry for Javie, the janitor. You loved that tiny man. Behind you Sophia sucked in a breath, though you were too embarrassed to really pay attention to anything else other than the stranger’s dirt covered sleeve. You reached out, brushing off their nice- very expensive- blazer.
“God, I should have been paying better attention to where I was walking. I’m so sorry.” You apologized, looking up at who you thought was Jeff.
Because this person was practically a giant compared to most of the people on this floor, and the outfit and shoes? That was at least two months worth of your pay- if not more. Designer, no doubt. When you looked up, rather than meeting Jeff’s familiar brown eyes- you were met with blue.
And there he was, in all of his glory. Him being “quite the looker” was the understatement of the century. This man was a model. His wire rimmed glasses did nothing to make him look boyish. The stranger in front of you was all man. For a few seconds all the two of you did was stare at each other. The blonde looked just as stunned as you did, his plush lips softly parted, eyes wide as he took in your features. After a moment he cleared his throat, his jaw clenching as he must have realized that the two of you were blocking hallway traffic, his hands still firmly wrapped around you.
“We’re about to be late for the meeting.” He took a step back, and the loss of his firm grip on your arm nearly took your breath away.
Within seconds his warm, even soft blue eyes had hardened, his outwardly caring exterior turning ice cold. You tossed a look behind you at Sophia, dropping your jaw animatedly only for her to see before moving quickly to fall in step next to your new boss. “I’m so sorry about your blazer. I’ll pay for the dry cleaning-”
He was already unbuttoning the soiled jacket, shrugging it off of his broad shoulders so that he was only standing in his crisp button up shirt and tie. His waist was narrow, accentuated by his belt. You could tell he was fit underneath all of those clothes. You hated yourself for it, but you were practically drooling.
“Don’t worry about it. Just work hard for me from now on and we’ll call it even. Yeah?” He cut his eyes over towards you, and though you wanted to shrink under his gaze you merely held your head high and nodded. You were above outwardly fawning over the new guy.
You weren’t, however, above silently crushing from afar.
The man commanded the room unlike anything you’d ever seen before. Everything about his posture, his broad shoulders, and the surety of his actions told you that he meant business. Everybody stayed mostly silent as he introduced himself. Austin Butler. He looked like an Austin, you supposed. As he spoke you tried to rearrange the dirt in the pot with your fingers, smoothing it out so that it no longer looked ruined. The card in your purse suddenly seemed like overkill. You wanted him to think that you were nice, not a kiss ass. Then again, you needed to fix the horrible impression you had no doubt left him with earlier. He breezed out of the room the second that he was finished with the meeting, seemingly in a hurry to rid himself of the crowded room. Jeff was nowhere to be seen, but he had sent you an email earlier stating that he might be late coming back from lunch. His wife was out of town and their beloved cat, Mr Samson, hadn’t been eating well over the last week. You stood up, addressing the room with a bright smile.
“Alright everyone, Jeff is going to be busy for the rest of the day, meaning you’ll either report directly to me or Mr Butler. Jenna? Can you drop by my cubicle before you leave today? I’ve got that Henderson file for you.” The blonde nodded, lazily joining the crowd as they dispersed out of the room. For a second you stood at the head of the long table, your eyes nervously darting back over to Sophia.
“Thank god I work the payroll. I’d probably have a heart attack if I had to talk to Austin every day.” She mumbled, pretending to fan herself.
You grabbed the plant off of the table, straightening out your shoulders as you walked over towards the door. “Well- let’s just hope that I didn’t fuck it up already. The last thing I need is for the guy to hate me.”
You waved your goodbyes before heading straight towards the once unoccupied office. There were a few boxes on the floor, but there weren’t any decorations up yet. No pictures of wives or children, which you hoped meant that he was single. Not like you wanted to date him. . . just ogle from afar. You knocked on the open door, ducking your head in to shoot him one of your dazzling smiles. It usually worked on everyone. Almost everyone. Austin didn’t smile back.
Your heart rate began to pick up as you held the plant up, giving it a gentle shake before placing it on the edge of his spotless desk.
“It’s a little bit ironic, but I bought this for you. Consider it a welcome gift from me and my team.” Before he could say anything else, you were already digging into your purse, handing over the card too.
He slowly took it from you, shooting you an incredulous look before opening it. You weren’t sure why. . . but his standoffish attitude was rubbing you the wrong way. Maybe it was the fact that he was outwardly perfect. You should have expected him to be rude. Pretty people are often rotten on the inside. You cleared your throat, pointing at the card.
“Just a few words of encouragement. I thought it might make you feel a little more comfortable around all of these new faces. If you ever nee-”
And then he did it. Did this thing.
He sighed. He sighed like you were bothering him. Like your presence was a nuisance. Your face fell, your teeth clenched, and all at once you decided that you couldn’t stand Austin Butler. He was blowing you off. Shrugging off your kind gestures. Your unnecessarily kind gestures. Your hands balled up into fists at your sides as you tried to fight off the urge to slap the glasses right off of his pretty-boy face.
“I’m not trying to be rude, but I’m really busy at the moment.” He was cool guying you. He was totally fucking cool guying you right now.
“Oh,” Your voice had lowered an octave, shaking with anger. He seemed to notice, his eyes quickly flickering up to meet your face. “I can see that I came at the wrong time.”
You started to walk out of the office, flinching back slightly as you saw Jeff headed towards you with a bright smile. You were heatedly walking off in the direction of your cubicle before the older man could say anything to you.
It was decided. Set in stone.
You hated Austin Butler with a passion.
“Well, what was that about?” Jeff closed the door behind him, nodding off in the direction of the female.
Austin read over the name again and again, signed in her adorable handwriting. He let out another sigh, tossing the card down onto his desk before he covered his face with his hands.
“I don’t know. I panicked. Shit, now she thinks I’m an asshole.” His office chair creaked as he leaned back, praying that the floor would swallow him up.
He had been so overwhelmed in the meeting. He probably came off as cold, which was exactly what he didn’t want to do. His anxiety had gotten the best of him today, and you were proof. Because he had seen you in the hall before you bumped into him. He could have prevented all of that from happening. And how could he not see you? He had been so focused on your button up blouse and form fitting pencil skirt that he had forgotten how to function. And then he learns that not only are you working on the same floor, but working directly under him. Meaning that he would have to talk to you. Every day. Austin didn’t do crushes. He was a workaholic. He was the king of heating up leftovers and eating alone every night. He was too busy for relationships, so it shouldn’t matter that the prettiest girl he had ever seen was just a stone's throw away from him. Right? Right?
“Well, you’re screwed now.” Jeff smiled smugly, crossing his arms over his chest, leaning back against the door.
Austin’s heart jumped up to his throat, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to form a sentence. He looked like an idiot.
“W-What do you mean? I’m screwed? Do you think she hates me? Already?”
Jeff opened the door a crack, peeking his head out. Austin was quick to stand up from his desk, joining him by the door. And there you were, tossing your purse onto your desk like the inanimate object had personally offended you. He had the perfect view of you from his office. He was doomed. Jeff watched her for a few more seconds before clicking his tongue.
“. . . Oh, definitely.”
Austin tore the glasses off of his face, tossing them down onto his desk so that he could rub at his eyes exasperatedly.
“How do I fix it? God. . . Should I go out there right now?” Austin motioned towards the door with one hand, loosening his tie with the other. It felt like it was choking him.
“Take her out on a date.” Jeff was smiling smugly again, shaking his head in pretend disapproval. “I can’t believe you already offended the most hot headed female that I’ve ever met. I was gone for an hour.”
Austin sucked in a breath, his knees buckling underneath him. He had to lean against the desk for support. “I’m not going to take her on a date. I’m her boss, Jeff.” The younger male practically gasped.
Jeff opened the door, leaving the boy with some parting words. “I wasn’t born yesterday, Butler. I give it. . . six months. You’ll see.”

butler's babies
ship: austin butler x female reader rating: PG word count: 2,197 summary: reader drops off their niece at daycare, turns out the owner is quite handsome warnings: none notes: i pass a place called 'butler's babies' on the way to work every morning and this idea just created itself. something short and sweet haha taglist: @stylespresleyhearted, @austinbutlermischief, @killerqueenfan
“Are you sure about this place?” You ask, balancing your phone in one hand against your ear while your other arm holds onto your niece, Layla. You’re helping your sister out with her two-year-old while she goes through a nasty divorce—figures it’s the least you can do. You’ve always loved being an aunt, would do anything for her, so if it means you have to wake up early on a Thursday morning and take Layla to daycare— “I mean, I can stay home from work.”
Your sister, Rachel, sighs and you can picture her shaking her head, “No, Y/N, you’re already doing me the favor of dropping her off, you shouldn’t have to take the whole day. Rick or I will pick her up after…” She doesn’t quite finish. “After.”
You wince lightly, looking at the cross street before turning the corner. You catch Layla’s gaze, smiling as she holds onto her stuffed bunny. She’s dressed in overalls today, bright red puffer jacket to protect her from the cold weather. She’s playing with the ears of her stuffed bunny, smiling,
“Momma!”
A soft smirk tugs the corners of your mouth, “Yeah, talking to your mom.” You lean over and press a kiss to her forehead, which is mostly just hitting the fabric of her beanie. She’s adorably bundled up, her nose a soft pink from the wind whipping around the buildings.
“Alright, well,” You clear your throat, coming up to the daycare, “If you’re sure.”
“I am—she loves that place. The guy that runs it is really sweet, hires some of the best daycare providers I’ve met, and you know I like to do my research.”
You smile, something fond as you adjust Layla along your hip, “I know you do—I just got here, I’ll talk to you later.”
“Oh,” She interrupts before you can hang up, “Also, the guy who runs it? Very good looking.”
You can’t help but roll your eyes, “Goodbye.”
She snickers, the tell-tale sign of the call ending by the following beeps.
--
You hover outside the daycare for a moment to slide your phone into your back pocket, your eyes skittering over the bright decorative paintings of Sesame Street characters holding welcoming signs and information—the arch above the doorway reads ‘BUTLER’S BABIES’. From what Rachel told you, the daycare actually specializes in newborns but will take any age up until five.
Glancing inside, you can see one large room that has a ton of toys, bean-bag chairs, one television playing cartoons and a few kids already milling around with some of the daycare hires. Letting out a breath, you push the door open and step inside, about to speak to someone in the gated area where the kids are but then someone comes out of the back, right to the counter.
“Hey,” He smiles and you kind of blink—not who you were expecting in the slightest to be at a place like this. Not that…not that men can’t be caretakers, of course, and you know a man owns this daycare but—
You shake your head, clearing dizzy thoughts. You just didn’t expect him to be…tall and incredibly handsome.
“Sorry, I hope you weren’t waiting long, didn’t hear the door open,” Then he smiles, recognizing the girl in your arms, “Hi Layla.” He gives her a soft wave and while Layla is usually shy around newer people, she brightens instantly at him—
“Bun!” She shows him her bunny.
“I know, I see you brought bun-bun today,” He grins, leaning against the counter, looking up at you, “Tea parties,” He says as if it’s matter of fact, “Bun-bun is always the guest of honor.”
A soft laugh escapes your chest and you set Layla down to take off her coat, “Oh of course, I’ve been to many of those,” You smile, removing her hat and fixing the wildness of her hair. You stand up and she holds onto your pants to remain upright.
“I can take that,” He says, holding his hand out to take Layla’s coat.
“Thanks, uh—”
“Austin,” He smiles, “You must be the sister, right? Rachel’s mentioned you before.”
I’m gonna kill her, “Yeah, that’s me—the sister. Y/N.”
Austin nods his head, his eyes brushing over you before he takes out a form for you to fill out. It seems to have simple information about you, best number for contact, things like that. Rachel’s already made you an approved person to pick Layla up if need be. You let out a slow breath and pick up a pen, trying not to watch Austin come out from behind the counter to greet Layla.
There’s really something about a handsome man with kids, especially when its clear he cares about them. He kneels down and talks to Layla about her bunny before offering his hand to her so he can walk her to the daycare room where the rest of the kids are. You fill out your information, giving Layla a wave when she turns to look at you.
Austin drops her off with a few other workers, who pull her into other conversations with kids that are already there. You linger at the counter, making sure she’s alright but…Layla is all smiles, showing other kids her bunny. A soft smile tugs the corners of your mouth, pushing the form back towards Austin when he gets back behind the counter.
“Will you be picking her up?”
“I don’t think so—I’m just drop off today.”
Austin smiles, glancing down at the form before filing it away, “Oh, well that’s a shame—I was hopin’ to talk to someone else who’s been part of these famous tea parties.”
It takes you a moment to realize that he’s flirting with you, a fluttering behind your ribcage like warm butterflies. It’s been a while for you, out of the dating game, not the best at picking up cues let alone carrying out other steps for yourself. But there’s something soft in the blue of Austin’s eyes, the easiness of his smile, the fact that he’s running a daycare.
“They are quite incredible, aren’t they?” You smile, “Though bun-bun uses far too much sugar, if you ask me.”
There’s a soft smirk, the recognition of an opening between you two and Austin steps right into it, “Oh it’s the biscuits for me—little bit of strawberry jelly.” At the crinkle of your nose, he laughs—it’s definitely a nice sound, “No?”
“I mean, you gotta go grape. Always.”
“I’ll remember that.” He smiles and your stomach does this flip-flop. There are actually a few seconds in which you wish you could linger but,
“I have to go uh, I don’t want to be late for work.” Austin nods, leaning back a bit as you turn but…before you get to the door, “Feel free to let me know how the tea party goes.” You motion towards the cabinet where he put your form, “That’s my cell number I wrote down.”
You can’t help but smile as you leave the daycare.
--
It only takes him to the afternoon to text you,
Austin: tea party was a disaster—out of sugar, jelly everywhere Austin: also you were right, grape is superior
A soft laugh leaves your lips as you leave work, making your way to the subway,
Y/N: I just really know biscuits
And then you take a leap that you’re not used to but…there’s nothing wrong with trying to take the first step, right? Especially after being out of the game for so long—
Y/N: would you like to get some sometime?
--
You meet Austin at the daycare and he’s held up by a set of parents who haven’t come to pick up a baby named Cooper, who he’s currently rocking in his arms, trying to get him to settle. You lean against the counter, a soft, amused smile on your lips.
“Sorry, he’s usually picked up by now,” Austin admits, shushing the baby gently as he adjusts him, “Should be just another twenty minutes or so.”
You shake your head, glancing into the daycare to see it’s empty for the day, some of the other workers cleaning up the space in preparation for the next morning. “No worries, I know the perfect place we can go—it’s open late.”
He hums, running his hand up and down the baby’s back, who’s calming slowly but surely. “And this place has biscuits?”
You grin, “I mean, there’s other things too but…they’re big and fluffy, buttery…perfect for jelly.” Your eyes fall to Cooper as he settles, begins to fall asleep against Austin’s chest—big oof. “So uh—what made you want a daycare?”
“This was actually my grandmother’s place but,” He looks down at Cooper, shifting from foot to foot, “She got sick and couldn’t maintain the business so, instead of selling I kinda just stepped in.”
Well that’s sweet, you didn’t expect that. “And changed the name?”
He smirks, “Yeah, it was ‘Berda’s Babies’ before…didn’t quite fit after I took it over.”
“Oh I dunno, you could look like a Berda to me.”
Austin chuckles lightly, raising his eyebrows before the door to the daycare opens. A set of parents come in, quickly apologizing for being late. Austin’s insistent that he doesn’t mind, gently waving them off before telling them he’ll see them tomorrow.
He grabs his coat, “Biscuits?”
You smile and nod, heading out with him.
--
Jacob’s Pickles actually specializes in, well, pickles, but they also make these incredible breakfast sandwiches with giant biscuits. It’s the best place to pick up said biscuits, biting into the fluffy pastry that crumbles perfectly. You secure a seat by a window, Austin taking another packet of grape jelly to tug open and spread across his biscuit.
“So, just curiously,” You say after a moment, “How is Layla doing?” Austin’s eyebrows draw together at the question and you give a little clarification, “My sister’s going through a divorce.”
You don’t expand but Austin nods, picking up his iced coffee to take a sip, “I figured somethin’ was going on with the unusual pick-ups and drop-offs, but Layla’s been great. She’s social, talks a lot, always smiling,” He shrugs, “Sometimes the kids we get cry often, which makes sense—new space, new faces, new schedule. Layla is never one of those kids.”
A soft smile tugs the corners of your mouth because that definitely sounds like your niece, she’s always been a happy child, you’d hate to think this messiness with her parents might somehow change her. Admittedly, you’re worried about it, you’re sure sooner or later it might disrupt Layla’s life—even if your sister is trying to end things amicably with her husband.
“What kind of work do you do?” Austin asks, steering the conversation, which you’re grateful for—you weren’t sure what else to say.
“I’m an editor for a children’s book company.”
He raises his eyebrows, “Really? You like that?”
You smile, “Uh yeah—I mean, I’ve been in it long enough that I’ve…kinda thought about writing my own.” You can tell by the look on his face that he wants you to continue, even nudges you with his foot underneath the table. You laugh slightly, “I’ve done this mock-up with an artist about a spider that doesn’t like to scare people.” You can’t help but laugh again, mostly out of embarrassment than amusement, “Like…all her friends like to.”
“That’s really cute,” The compliment makes your cheeks flush, “So why haven’t I seen it on bookshelves that I can buy for the daycare?”
Because I’m too afraid to put it out there, receive criticism, “Just…never got everything together,” You take a sip of your coffee, “You got any big dreams other than ‘Butler’s Babies’?”
“Acting,” He smile a little, “My mom used to take me to classes and auditions when I was little.”
“Well, it’s never too late.” You encourage, “Right?”
“Right,” He pauses a moment before picking up a half of his biscuit, “To it ‘never bein’ too late’.”
You realize he wants to cheers using biscuits and grin easily, picking up your half to gently tap against his.
--
The next time you drop Layla off, your niece is very insistent on you staying for a tea party. If it wasn’t for having a day off (and Austin’s blue eyes), you might have found the strength to decline. You’re seated on the floor in front of a pink tea playset, Austin across from you. You’re surrounded by other tea invites—bun-bun (of course), a Barbie, Ken who’s missing a shirt, a stuffed bear and two monster trucks (you try not to question those, but name them George and Marvin respectively).
“Can’t believe this is our second date,” Austin teases as Layla haphazardly pours them tea (you’re grateful the tea pot isn’t filled with water). “Things are movin’ pretty fast.”
You smirk, playfully taking a sip from your empty cup, “Need more sugar,” You tell Layla, and then to Austin— “Oh well, if you’re impressed now just wait until after the third date.”
“What happens then?”
“Guess you’ll have to see.” You smile, reaching for an imaginary biscuit.

Last Minute pt. 2
SingleDad!Austin x reader

Summary: The day has finally come, and Austin is over the moon.

The week leading up to the date crawled by like a snail on Valium. Austin found himself humming along to love songs he hadn't touched in years, meticulously trimming his beard every other day, and even attempting a new, slightly less disastrous hairstyle (thanks to Liam's enthusiastic, if questionable, hairstyling skills).
Liam, surprisingly well-behaved in a new shirt and gelled hair, declared himself "official chaperone" and spent the afternoon "preparing" for the date. This involved constructing an elaborate fort out of blankets and pillows in the living room, complete with a stash of snacks for "emergencies."
Austin stared at his reflection in the mirror, the knot in his stomach tighter than the button-down he was struggling with. This wasn't just a Saturday night with you. This was, he dared to believe, the start of something more. His heart thundered a nervous rhythm against his ribs, echoing the pounding of miniature fists on his bedroom door.
"Daddy, Daddy! Are you ready?" Liam bounced excitedly, dressed in his best superhero shirt and a mischievous grin. Austin forced a smile. "Almost, bud. I shouldn't keep her waiting, should I?"
His grin widened. "Nope!" He chuckled, shaking his head. "I'm almost finished. Now go wash your face, little dude. Auntie Ashley should be here in a few minutes," he tells his son. With Liam occupied, Austin took a deep breath. He could do this. Y/n was just another person, right? Just incredibly kind, intelligent, and beautiful. Okay, maybe not just another person. But still, he could be charming, could he not?
He straightened his bowtie, a last-minute addition courtesy of Liam's enthusiastic rummaging in his dress-up trunk. It was slightly crooked, adding a touch of endearing awkwardness to his attire. Taking one last look, he grabbed the bouquet of peonies they'd picked earlier, a vibrantly colorful reminder of their afternoon adventure.
The feminine voice he knew and loved filled his ears as he made his way to the living room, where Liam and Ashley stood. All of the attention was now on Austin and his appearance.
"Austin, you look… dapper." Ashley's eyes twinkled with amusement. "And Liam, your bowtie is magnificent!" Liam puffed out his chest, grinning proudly. "Daddy helped!" She smiles at the boy, who was shaking his tie frantically.
"Sorry I'm late; Jupiter would not eat for the life of him. Did I miss anything?" Austin managed a weak smile. "Just an Injustice League attack on Metropolis, nothing crazy." Austin teased, bugging his son.
"It was crazy! Batman and Superman almost died!" Liam shouts, dramatically throwing his face in his hands. He ran back to his "lair," his attention solely on the architectural marvel before him. The laughter died down, snapping Austin back into reality.
Ashley's grin widened. "Relax, Aus. You're a catch. Y/n's gonna be smitten." She says, throwing her hand on his shoulder. Her words were reassuring, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of inadequacy. He wasn't the charming, smooth-talking type. He was just Austin, a single dad with Lego-covered floors and a permanent stain on his favorite shirt.
The butterflies in Austin's stomach did a synchronized tap dance as he stood at your doorstep. He'd dreamt of this moment for months, replaying it in his mind a thousand times, each iteration ending in a different shade of awkwardness. Yet, here he was, the setting sun painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, and a first date with you, his charming next-door neighbor, stretching before him like an uncharted adventure.
You, however, radiated warmth and ease. Your smile, as bright as the string lights adorning your porch, instantly calmed his jitters. He stared, his heart leaping into his throat, as your figure emerged. You, bathed in the soft glow of the lighting, looked breathtaking. Hair was loose, cascading down your shoulders, along with a white sundress that hugged your body in all of the right places.
"Hey," you said, your voice as captivating as the fall foliage swirling around the two of you. "Hi," Austin stammered, suddenly self-conscious about his button-down and slightly wrinkled jeans. "Sorry I'm..."
"Late? Not at all," you interrupted, your smile widening. "I was just cleaning up the house a bit before you came." He nodded, revealing the bouquet from behind his back.
"These are for you," he says, his voice slightly deeper than usual. Your cheeks flushed. "Thank you, Austin; I love them."
He stumbled over his words, "No problem. I, uh, thought pink peonies would be... bright, like you." Cringe. He mentally smacked his forehead. Your tickled laughter, however, quickly chased away his embarrassment.
"That's sweet," You smile, taking the flowers from him before setting them in an open vase that was on your counter. The platform sandals that gave you no justice with your height difference between you and Austin were slipped on as you walked back to your door.
"Lead the way." You say, extending your arm. A laugh bubbled up from his chest, genuine and unrestrained. This wasn't the stuffy conversation or awkward greeting he'd envisioned. This was Y/n, unique and unexpected, just like you'd always been.
The autumn leaves crunched under the tires as Austin navigated the winding road, the headlights painting fleeting shadows on the trees. Beside him, your laughter filled the car, a melody sweeter than any radio station. He gripped the steering wheel a little tighter, his knuckles white under the light filtering through the car windows.
Dating again felt like driving a stick shift blindfolded after years of a reliable automatic, Austin thought.
"Is everything alright?" Your voice broke through his reverie, concern lacing your tone.
He swallowed, forcing a smile. "Yeah, just... remembering how bad I am at parallel parking." You chuckled, your hand reaching out to squeeze his arm briefly. "Relax; we can always find a garage." Your touch sent a jolt through him, and he fought the urge to glance at you.
As you two entered the warm, bustling restaurant, the aroma of garlic and herbs embraced your nose. The air was filled with the gentle chatter of families and couples, creating a cozy atmosphere.
Austin led you to a secluded table by the window, offering a breathtaking view of the valley bathed in the soft hues of twilight. The flickering candlelight cast a warm glow on your faces, creating a sense of intimacy that sent a shiver down your spine.
"This is so cute," you murmured, voice barely a whisper.
His heart rate quickened. "I'm glad you think so."
The waiter arrived—a friendly man with a thick Italian accent who immediately took a shine to you. As you ordered, Austin found himself captivated by your animated expressions, his eyes not tearing away from you once.
When the food arrived, the conversation flowed effortlessly. You talked about everything and nothing. With each bite, with each shared laugh, it was clear that Austin could get used to this.
He spoke of Brooke, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he described the situation. You listened intently, eyes filled with warmth.
Your hand reached across the table, the touch sending shivers down his spine. "Sometimes," you said, your voice low, "you gotta learn to let things go, even if it isn't what you want." The air crackled with unspoken desires, the space between the two of you shrinking until it was barely there.
Then, the spell broke as a loud toddler scream erupted from the table next to you. The moment, fragile and precious, was shattered, leaving a bittersweet longing in its wake.
"Well, if that isn't Liam in another form, I don't know what is." Austin deadpans, rolling his eyes. You burst into a fit of laughter, taking another long sip of your wine.
"Oh, not Liam; he's perfect!" You say, throwing your hand over your heart. He picks up on your sarcastic tone, "He's pretty perfect, alright."
The city lights blurred past Austin's windshield, mirroring the kaleidoscope of emotions swirling within him. The restaurant's warmth had faded, replaced by the crisp autumn air and the never-ending fluttering in his chest.
Silence stretched in the car, comfortable yet charged. Austin stole a glance at you, in awe of the way your hair framed your face, the moonlight casting soft shadows on your features. Does she feel what I'm feeling? He thought. As he pulled up in front of your house, a pang of disappointment shot through him.
He walked you to the door, the silence once again charged with hidden emotions. He stopped, hesitating, unsure of what to do next.
"Austin," you say, "thank you for everything tonight." For a breathless moment, your eyes locked, desires simmering in the air. Then, he leaned in, his lips brushing against your ear. "No, thank you, Y/n."
Austin leaned closer, your faces mere inches apart. The tension was unbearable, the air thick with anticipation. Then, he closed the gap, softly grasping each side of your face as your lips met in a kiss that was slow, tender, and filled with promise.
It was everything you had imagined. Austin went above and beyond for you tonight, and it made the kiss well worth it.
When you finally pulled away, breathless and smiling, Austin's eyes were noticeably darker as he caressed your cheek.
"Good night," he whispered, his voice deep.
"Good night," you echo, lingering for a moment before reluctantly stepping back.
As he watched you disappear into your house, the warmth of the kiss lingered on his lips. He made his way back to his abode and met with Liam, who was probably looking forward to this date more than Austin had been all along.
"Daddy! Did you kiss her?"

Chapter 9: Drunken Truth
“You're not gonna party too hard right?” Austin asked as he watched you get ready.
“My job is to make sure that the bride, aka my sister, has the time of her life and gets home safely.” You answered him.
“So you aren’t going to have any fun?” You let out a sigh and looked at Austin in the mirror. Your idea of fun was far from partying at a club. Your fun was staying home and laying in bed.
“This is already pushing outside my comfort zone, I just… I’ll sit there awkwardly and smile.” You pushed a smile out. Austin stood up and came over to you. He placed his hands on your shoulders and kissed your head.
“I wish I could come.” He said softly.
“Unless you decide to dress up like a sexy firefighter, there’s no use.” You said as you continued to put on your makeup. Of course, you were joking about this. Not only would it raise a huge red flag in your relationship, but you also didn’t want that.
“Well-“ You started to shake your head before he could finish his sentence.
“No, absolutely not. I’m not having those girls throw themselves at you.” Your reaction brought an amused look to Austin’s face.
“Why? Would you be jealous?” He smirked. You rolled your eyes and got up.
“Well for starters, you are not a stripper. Second off, I already paid the strippers. Third off, I don’t want you to.” You walked over to your heels to put them on.
“Look, just try and have a little bit of fun okay? If you girls need a ride, I’ll come pick you up.” He offered. You smiled softly and looked at him.
“Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” Austin let out a light chuckle. He found it funny that you would thank him. You guys have been doing this for roughly over three, or maybe it was four, months now. The big day was closing in.
“But I do. You are doing so much for me and… there’s nothing I can do to show how much I appreciate everything.” You explained. Austin made his way over to you and cupped your face.
“You being next to me is enough,” he leaned down and kissed you. You cherished this moment and made sure it was embedded into your mind. You were going to need it for tonight.
“I’ll text you okay? I’ll drive to my sisters and then we’re going to get into an Uber.”
“Keep me posted, I’ll be… here. Might snoop around for some juicy secrets but.” You rolled your eyes at his comment and picked up your purse. You gave him a short smile and you were on your way.
Once you got into the car and started it, you made your way over to her sisters. You didn’t listen to any music, you just sat there silently. Mostly because it wasn’t too long of a drive, you would’ve been there in a few minutes anyway.
You went up to her door and rang the doorbell. The door quickly opened and your sister’s face lit up. You two were honestly so close, well… not close enough to tell her your lie. You just didn’t want to disappoint her. You didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
“Hey bride, are you ready for the best day of your life?” You smiled.
“Of course, but I need help with my dress first.” You nodded and closed the door behind yourself.
“Yeah, what’s up?” You asked confused.
“I need to zip up.” She said and turned around. You zipped up her dress easily and smoothed out the wrinkles.
“All done. You're ready to go.” You said and walked around her so that you could look her in the face.
“Perfect!”
“I’ll go order the Uber then. Our time frame at the bar starts soon.” You explained as you pulled out your phone.
“Oh! That reminds me, we have some new guests coming along.” Amelia spoke up. You looked up from your phone confused.
“What do you mean? It’s supposed to only be the bridal party.” You mentioned the original plans.
“I know… It’s just some of my friends really wanted to come, and I wanted to have them there as well.” She said with a big smile. You let out a sigh and shook your head. You couldn’t deny her. She already made the adjustments, you just had to go along with it.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
After being out for a couple of hours or so, you were just about over the evening. You had some fun with Amelia, but after she got into the bar… she went straight to her friends. They were the ones enjoying the music, singing karaoke, dancing, and throwing money at the strippers.
You made your way over to the bar, “Give me the strongest thing you have please,” you sighed as you sat down at the bar.
“One sazerac coming up,” the bartender responded as he started to make your drink. You placed your little wristlet onto the bar and tapped your finger against the counter. You tried to tune out the loud sounds of girls screaming.
“I’m guessing you’re with the bachelorette party?” He asked as he placed the glass down in front of you. You gave him a smile as a thank you and nodded.
“Yeah, my sister is actually the bride.” You said as you picked up the glass. You looked at the brown liquid and brought the glass to your lips. You cringed at the taste and scrunched up your face. Now that was some strong… alcohol.
“Never had someone buy out the whole bar before. Then again, you got twenty… almost thirty people here.” He pointed out.
“It was supposed to be just the bridal party,” you mumbled lightly and took another drink, “I planned for… five… maybe six people. Not this much.”
“You seem to have… more on your mind than that party.”
You let out a sigh and shook your head, “I’ll just say this… Never lie. Because then… that lie will eat you away.” You finished up the last of your drink.
“That bad huh?” He urged you to go on as he wiped down some of the wet glasses.
“It’s worse, but I’m going to need another drink.”
“You drive a hard bargain… but deal,” the bartender smirked and started to make you another drink. He placed the drink in front of you and took away your empty one.
“It started a long time ago…” you started as you picked up the glass. “When I first moved away.” You took a sip of your drink. You turned your head to the back to make sure that your sister wouldn’t hear and turned back to the bartender.
“And how long, was a long time ago?” He questioned.
“Well, I moved away six years ago… but the lie started four years ago.”
“Sounds like this lie has taken a toll on your life.”
“Well… it started after I got diagnosed with depression.” You stated after you finished off your second drink. “Another one please.”
“You’re gonna dry me out here, doll.” You cringed at the nickname he called you but just shook it off. You knew he was just being nice, but if he had any ideas- you could easily kick his ass.
“Well, keep ‘em coming. Especially if you want to know the story.” You tapped the empty glass. He chuckled lightly and picked up the glass.
“Well, as long as you keep me company, I’ll be fine with that.” He said with a wink. You closed your eyes and then rolled them. Was this guy really trying to hit on you right now?
“Right well… I was deeply depressed and didn’t want to go out. I wanted to stay home. So, my friends would try and get me to come out. My family… my sister… every time they came and visited. Well… I started the boyfriend lie.”
“Why not just say you’re busy?” He questioned as he placed down the glass.
“Because it wouldn’t work like that. Especially with my family. So… I played the boyfriend card.” You picked up the glass and took a long drink. The burning liquid running down your throat. Though, you didn’t feel it burning anymore. “Sorry, I’m busy with my boyfriend. Oh sorry, I got dinner with my boyfriend.”
“And how does this play into now? Four years later?”
“I got a call from my sister a couple of months ago. She was asking me to be her maid of honor. Of course, I was excited, I am excited. She’s my sister I love her very dear. I accepted and then she dropped the bomb on me. Told me that my boyfriend was the best man.”
“Hold up, isn’t the best man supposed to be someone you know?”
“Exactly! But she’s this… smart evil sister. I love her so much though. She wanted to meet my boyfriend, and she figured this would be the best idea.”
“I see…”
“So, I thought… fuck, I’m screwed. I would have to come clean, but I didn’t. I couldn’t,” you started to shake your head, drinking your drink. “So… I came up with the plan of getting a fake boyfriend.”
“A fake boyfriend?” The bartender raised his eyebrow.
“Mhm, and I didn’t know how to do that. I looked through my contacts and I noticed most of them I used the boyfriend card on. Then my eyes fell on one contact in particular. Someone I haven’t seen in a long time. Austin Butler. My old friend.”
“Did he agree to do it?”
“Yes actually,” you chuckle lightly. “I’m honestly surprised. He basically saved me. Coming with me and agreeing to everything.”
“It’s fake?” You heard your sister's voice. You turned quickly in fear and looked at her. Was she there the whole time? No, she couldn’t have. You checked to make sure she wasn’t.
“What- No no no,” you started to shake your head.
“I just heard you. You can’t just lie to me again. We are days away from my wedding! And you and Austin aren’t even together!?” She raised her voice. You swallowed a lump in your throat and felt yourself start to tear up.
“It’s not like that… Amelia. Listen-”
“No, Y/n. You ruined everything… I can't believe you lied to me.” She said as she turned around, and started to head towards the door.
“Amelia, wait!” You called out to her. You let out a groan when she didn’t stop and grabbed your wristlet off the counter and went after her. “Amelia please!” You reached out for her hand.
“Stop, Y/n!” She turned to face you, “I am not doing this. You do your maid of honor duties and nothing else. You are not my sister anymore. You lied to me for four years! You lied to everyone for four years!”
“I-I”
“Anything you say, will not be forgiven. I don’t want to see you until the wedding day.” She shook her head and walked out.
“Amelia,” you whispered and watched as she walked away. The tears fell quickly and you fumbled to open your wristlet. It was all over… just like that. All because of that fucking bartender.
With trembling hands, you pulled your phone out. You went up to your contacts and quickly called Austin. You were tipsy, you were crying, and not to mention your whole secret was out. You let out a sob and shook your head quickly. You needed him to pick you up. You guys obviously could no longer stay at your parent's house.
“Y/n? Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Austin asked as he answered the phone.
“Code purple, she knows. We- we- we-”
“I’ll get everything packed up, and I’ll come pick you up okay? We’ll find an apartment and go onto plan B okay? Everything will be okay,” Austin explained with a calm voice. You nodded slowly and made your way back into the building.
“Okay… Thank you, Austin,” you whispered in response.
“I’ll be there soon okay?”
“Okay.” You said softly.
“Bye, sweetheart.”
“Bye, Austin.” You pulled your phone away and hung up. You found yourself a seat and sat down with a sigh. You knew this was going to happen. You shouldn’t have done this. You should’ve just come clean in the first place.
You rubbed your eyes and leaned your head back against the wall.
Sdufhsdkfjhadskjfhdsaf
“What happened?” Austin asked once you two got into the hotel room.
“I was at the bar… and and, I told him not to lie and I told him everything. I made sure she wasn’t around and- I guess she just came up and- she heard everything.”
“Come here,” he whispered and opened his arms. You frowned as you walked over to him and accepted his warm embrace. You placed your face against his chest and let the tears fall. You’ve been holding them in since you got into the car.
“She hates me,” you whimpered through the tears.
“She doesn’t hate you. She’s just… hurt and confused at the moment. Give her some time.”
“She’s gonna tell my parents, and then my parents will tell the whole goddamn family and- and- and-”
“Y/n, sweetheart.” Austin rubbed your back gently, “It may have started as a lie… but we came together.” You sniffled and pulled away. You looked up from Austin’s chest and stared into his eyes. How did you deserve to have such a fantastic friend… let alone someone who wants to be in a relationship with you?
You pulled away from his body and made your way onto the bed. You crawled up till you were near the pillow and let your body collapse down. You ruined everything for your sister. All because of this stupid lie.
“I’ll order us some room service,” Austin announced as he headed over to the desk, where the menus amongst other pamphlets were.
You reached for your phone and went to your messages. You read over everything you sent your sister. You begged for her to listen to you. To talk to you. Anything really at this point. She didn’t read them… How could you be so stupid? How could you mess up this badly?
You sighed and went into your photos app. You smiled as your eyes landed on the various pictures you and Austin took. You scrolled up and looked at the ones that held Amelia and you. What you would do to go back and take back the boyfriend lie. It just caused pain and mayhem for you.
You heard Austin’s voice as he ordered you guys some food. You flipped onto your back and sprawled out against the bed. You stared up at the white ceiling and blew some hair out of your face. You had to fix things. Her wedding was days away and you ruined your sistership with her.
Even if you tried to tell her Austin and yourself were in a relationship now, she wouldn’t believe it. Let alone believe that you loved him. You just knew that this caused you a new nickname with the family. The liar. The wannabe. The… attention whore. You faked a relationship to ruin your sister's wedding. You can just hear your mother now.
“Come on, sit up.” You looked over at Austin and whined shaking your head. “Up up.” You let out a groan as you sat up. You looked straight forward at the blank black television screen.
“Arms up.” You held your arms up and felt as your dress was being pulled off. Soon, your bra came off and a new shirt was put on you.
The smell of his cologne engulfed your nostrils. You hummed at the scent and wrapped your arms around yourself. You plopped back onto your back once you felt his lips brush against your cheek.
“Did you want to watch something?”
“Do they have any good movies on?” You cracked open an eye to look at him. The bed dipped beside you as Austin sat down. He picked up the remote and turned on the TV so that he could look through the channel guide.
“Pineapple Express?” He questioned as he turned to look for your reply. You just shook your head as you stuck your tongue out a bit. It wasn’t like you didn’t like the movie. You just wanted something soft.
“Top Gun?” You shook your head once again. Jet flying and twenty-year-olds screaming didn’t really fit into that soft vibe you were going for. He just continued to name off movies and you shook your head.
“Forget about it… There’s nothing I want to watch.” You sighed as you curled up into a little ball. That’s when a knock erupted through the room.
“I bet that’s our food,” Austin announced as he got up to check the door. You didn’t even want to eat right now. You just wanted to cry- Austin pulled the lids off the food and the smell poured into your nose. You didn’t know what boogie hotel you were at, but you knew that the food smelled amazing.
You already knew which food was yours. The toasted warm sandwich with a batch of fresh fries. You remember going off to Austin in the car that you wanted a warm toasted sandwich. It was a weird request, but… it was your comfort food. Along with the fries of course.
You two ate your very late dinner and then got ready for bed. He didn’t force you to take a shower. He knew you wouldn’t be able to stand straight up. He figured tomorrow would be the best option. So, as you both got comfy in bed, you fell asleep in minutes.
You woke up and immediately sat up. You let out a loud verbal gasp as the sound of your finger continued to go off. You looked over at your phone and mentally swore at yourself. You know you should’ve put it on silent. Why didn’t you do that? You always make sure to do that!
You let out a sigh as reached for your phone and answered it without looking at the caller ID. You placed the phone against your ear and plopped back down into the bed. You cuddled back up to Austin and let out a very tired hello.
“Y/n, where the hell are you!” Your mother’s loud voice made you pull the phone far away from your ear. What was the time anyway? “Your sister told me everything. You better come home right this second!”
“Mom,” you let out a sigh and rubbed your face. “I just need to talk to her.”
“You are not talking to her. You’re lucky you’re still allowed to come to her wedding!” Your mother stated. You let out a breath and looked at Austin with begging eyes. He gave you a sad smile and took your phone off your hands.
“Hi, Mrs. Y/l/n, Some things were said, and Y/n would really like to be able to talk to Amelia. We’d both like to talk to her and explain.” He talked to your mother as you closed your eyes. You let out a hum and fell against his warmth.
“I understand she’s upset, and I apologize. If you could convince her to meet us at the IHOP. Please… Y/n really wants to talk and apologize about what happened.” Austin tried to reason with your mother. She would most likely agree because for some reason she loved Austin. Well, it wasn’t hard not to love him.
“Thank you so much, Y/n and I are grateful,” Austin said with a smile. You opened your eyes and looked at him. That sounded promising. “Yes of course… Yes… I’ll tell her. Of course. Goodbye.” Austin hung up and handed you the phone.
“So?” You urged him to share.
“Your sister will meet with us at IHOP.” He said with a smile. You let out a sigh of relief and looked at him. What did you do to deserve this man?
“Austin, thank you so much. I… I really appreciate it.”
“Look, we’re in this together. Which means, I’ll help you through every moment.” He pointed out to you. You nodded slowly and brought your face closer to his to kiss him. He hummed against your lips and pressed his hand against your lower back, pulling you closer towards him.
You smiled and pulled away after a bit. “We should get ready,” You stated as you rubbed your nose against his.
“Mmm, we can save time by taking a shower together?” He suggested.
“Yes,” You pressed a short kiss to his lips and got up out of bed. Austin followed suit afterward and you both headed towards the bathroom to hop into the shower together. What happens behind closed doors… stays behind closed doors.

Chapter 8: Wedding Shower
Everything was… well, it was almost perfect. You felt like it was missing something. Besides the food of course. Austin was on his way to go pick it up now. Everything was out, the decorations were on point… You just felt as if it wasn’t done. Maybe that was because it wouldn’t be perfect in your mother’s eyes. Mia would love it… your mother on the other hand.
“There’s my lil sister.” You turned towards the voice and saw your brother. A smile found its way onto your face. He was a few years older than Mia. About two years older in fact.
“Max,” you smiled and walked over to him. You two shared a quick hug before he quickly asked the burning question. He was the only other main family member that hasn’t met Austin yet. You knew he was most likely going to give him the brother talk.
The brother talk is, in your opinion, much worse than the dad talk. They tend to… well, how do you put it. Threaten them much more. Every boyfriend you ever had got the, “If you hurt her, I will kill you. That is a promise.’ Well, Maxwell hasn’t been arrested yet for murder! So, that’s a positive.
“So, where’s your boyfriend? I am dying to meet him.” Max held a playful smile. It was like he was hinting that you wouldn’t bring him. This might have been true, but Austin agreed to help. So, you didn’t have to go down that path.
“Oh, he’s just out picking up the food.” You answered with a smile.
“Still making up excuses I see,” he ruffled up your hair. You knew he was playing with you, but still, it hurt a bit.
“I’m serious,” you laughed gently and pushed away his hand. “He’s also getting ice for the drinks.”
“Mhm, we’ll see about that,” he teased you. You rolled your eyes and saw his wife, Kenzie. You smiled and made your way over to her with your hands out.
“Kenzziieee,” You said with a light squeal. Kenzie smiled at your sight and matched your energy.
“Y/n/nnnn.” She smiled. You pulled her into a tight hug, only to let out a gasp at the much bigger stomach. You pulled away and looked down at her rounded stomach.
“Oh my gosh! No way!” You exclaimed. You were going to be an aunt! Sure you knew this day would come eventually, but soon!?
“Yes way,” she smiled, “due in July.” She answered your unspoken question.
“Well, I promise you I will be here.” You told her with a smile. You didn’t know if by July your fake boyfriend would be real. You didn’t know if you were going to come clean beforehand. Nonetheless, you were going to be there for them.
“Well, they can’t wait to meet their cool aunt either.” She said as she rubbed her bump.
“Do you know the gender yet?” You asked as Max made his way to Kenzie. He wrapped his arm around her and kissed the side of her head.
“We could if we wanted, but we wanted to wait. Be surprised you know?” Max answered.
“A surprise, I like it.” You smiled. You continued to talk with Kenzie and Max. As time went by more and more people started to arrive. Family members, and friends of Mia and Nick.
You heard your phone going off and pulled it up to your face. You answered the call quickly once you saw Austin’s name.
“Hey, what’s up? You almost here?” You asked him.
“Yup, I’m down the road right now. Might be hard to find a parking space though.” He chuckled lightly.
“I told ya we should’ve put a chair to reserve your spot.” You rolled your eyes lightly and headed inside. “Not to mention, there are still more people to come.” You made your way to the front yard.
“I’ll pull round front okay? Help take the food in and find somewhere to park.” Austin explained to you.
“Okay, don’t be too long though, I think I see my aunt’s car. I do not want to be alone with her.” You said as you spotted her loud obnoxious blue Lincoln navigator.
“I’ll be there soon, don’t worry. Bye,” Austin reassured you.
“Bye,” you pulled your phone away and hung up. You slipped your phone back into its pocket and waited there for Austin. You were hoping and praying that when your aunt got out of her car… he would be pulling up. That way, you would be too busy to converse with her.
You tapped your foot against the driveway in anticipation. Well, it was more in nerves than anticipation. You were actually surprised your mother hasn’t pulled you to the side yet. Her opinion should not matter. It doesn’t matter in fact. All that matters is your sister’s and Nick’s opinion.
They were the bride and groom. Who cares if your mother doesn’t like it. She isn’t the person you threw this whole wedding party for. She had her wedding party years ago. She’ll probably use the, ‘I just want everything perfect for my sweet baby angel’. God, it made you gagged. If it wasn’t clear… Mia was her favorite. So, when Mia picked you as her maid of honor, your mother saw that as a pick fest.
If one thing went wrong and you made your sister cry. Well, you wouldn’t hear the end of it. Maybe your depression was because of your mother? The more you think about it… When you were younger and you would take Mia’s toys or steal some of her food… You would get punished. Screamed at even.
You shook your head and took in a deep breath. “Shove those feelings deep down, Y/n. Today is not about you.” You whispered to yourself. You smoothed out your light green dress. It wasn’t much longer until Austin was pulling up.
You walked over to the car, which he parked in the middle of the street for the time being. He got out of the car and you couldn’t help but smile. He still needed to change into his party wear clothes, but he still look amazing as always.
“No issues?” You asked as you walked around to the trunk.
“None at all. All the sandwiches and cookies were prepared, and transported safely.” He smiled as he opened the trunk. He wasn’t crazy, he saw how beautiful you looked. He just wanted to find a moment where you were both alone to compliment you.
“Good, I do not need anything disastrous happening.” You commented and picked up the box of cookies. Austin grabbed the two boxes of sandwiches and you two made your way inside.
“Nothing bad will happen,” Austin reassured you.
“I know, I just… I can’t help but think it will end in fire.” You replied as you placed the box down on the kitchen counter.
“You did amazing okay? Celebrate it, and have fun with your sister. Now, I gotta move the car before someone gets mad.” You nodded and watched as he rushed away. You let out a sigh and opened the boxes. You had to get these on a tray and outside before the bride and groom arrive.
“Need some help?” You turned at the voice and forced a pained smile onto your face.
“Aunt Eliana, how wonderful of you to offer, but I must decline. You should be out in the back.” You told her.
“Oh please, and miss spending time with my niece who I hardly see? Oh please,” She placed down her glass of champagne, which you have no idea how she got. You guys are serving water out of mason jars- the ice. Oh my god, Austin still has the ice-
“You okay there hun? You look like you just saw someone get killed.”
“Oh no no,” you chuckled lightly and shook your head. “Sorry, just got a lot on my mind.”
“I would imagine so. Say, where is that boyfriend of yours? Your mother has been telling me… quite a lot about him.
“He’s parking the car. He just dropped off the food.” You answered as you finished up one of the trays. Now you just had to do three more.
“Right,” she hummed and nodded. It was like she didn’t believe you. You don’t blame them, yet it still hurt. You couldn’t figure out why it hurts, you just knew that it did. First, it was your brother, and now it was your nosy aunt.
“Aunt Eliana, I just need to do this on my own. Please enjoy refreshments, though you seem to have brought yourself some alcohol-”
“Oh, I never come to a party without bringing alcohol. We’re all adults here, no harm… right?” She smirked gently. Was she hinting that you were acting like a child? You paused in your traying and turned to look at her.
“Look, I have been very busy, as I am right now. I am making sure my sister has the best wedding party among other events leading up to her wedding. Now please, we can talk later, but for right now, leave me alone.” You told her off. She held a face of… disbelief.
She couldn’t believe that you just told her off. Not many people dared to in fact. So, when some young niece of hers decides to throw at her… she doesn’t know how to act. She just nodded and left. You were finally alone. No one was in the house, everyone was outside.
Once you finished up the trays you took them outside one by one. You placed them over on the empty tables and placed out the plates and napkins. You let out a breath and smiled at everyone as you went back inside.
“Hey,” you found Austin. You smiled at his appearance. He has since changed into something more formal, but still casual. You walked over to him and flatten out his shirt.
“You look good,” you whispered gently.
“Well, you look beautiful. Blew me away when I got out of the car.” You blushed at his compliment and shook your head.
“Thank you,” you said softly. Austin wrapped his arm around you and kissed the side of your head.
“When’s your sister coming in?” He asked.
“She should be in soon. She said a bit after four.” You told him. Austin nodded in response and the two of you headed outside. You looked around for your brother so that you could finally introduce him to Austin.
“Come on, I spot my brother.” You said and pulled Austin over to Max and Kenzie.
“So this is the mystery boyfriend, huh?”
“I’m AUsitn, nice to meet you,” Austin said as he held his hand out to Max. He nodded and took Ausitn’s hand in his.
“Nice to meet you two, now… we need to talk.” Max threw an arm around Austin and the two walked off.
“Great.” you wished and shook your head. Kenzie let out a light laugh and shook her head.
“You should be lucky to have a brother. Sometimes you don’t want all the attention on you.” She explained. You shrugged your shoulders.
“I don’t know. No one really wants to hear that they will be killed if they hurt me.” You told her.
“He cares a lot for you. It shows he’ll be a great father.” She smiled at the thought. You looked over at her and matched her smile.
“You both are going to be great parents. I just know it.” You said. She pulled you into a hug and let out a comforting breath.
“Thank you, Y/n. It means a lot.” She said as you returned her hug.
“Can I… can I be honest with you?” You asked her once you two pulled away.
“Of course, you can tell me anything.” You looked around and grabbed her hand. You pulled her inside and to the bathroom. The only place where you two would be alone. “Um… Can I-”
“It’s not weird I promise I just… I need to get this off my chest.” were you really about to tell Kenzie the truth? Yes. Maybe it was because she wasn’t blood-related or… you didn’t know, but htis lie was slowly eating you up alive.
“You aren’t going to confess your love for me are you?” She joked lightly.
“No of course not. Austin and I aren’t really together.” You said rather quickly. Kenzie raised her eyebrow in confusion.
“I’m going to need you to slow down. Just a bit.” She said softly.
You let out a breath and looked down at your feet. “Austin and I… we aren’t really together. I made up this fake boyfriend four years ago, and then this wedding happened, and… now I’m in love with him and I just…”
“Wait… you two aren't together? You look like you’re together.” She looked at you shocked. As you imagined anyone would look.
“We just planned it very well.” You shrugged.
“Honey, anyone can fake a relationship, but you can’t fake the way you look at someone. You two are madly in love with each other.” She explained. You started to shake your head. If what she’s saying was true, then she was implying that Austin was in love with you. Which he can’t. There was just no way someone like him can love you.
“Austin doesn’t love me. He can’t love me.” You shook your head.
“Why not?” She asked.
“It’s a long story, but there is no way he loves me.”
“You won’t know unless you confess.” You shook your head nd let out a breath.
“I rather just not say anything at all. We just have so much longer, and then we’ll cut off all contact.” You said as you walked out of the bathroom.
“But then you’ll be wondering what if? And it will eat you alive.” She pointed out. You let out a sigh and nodded. She was right. You would be wondering what if?
“I just don’t want to think about it,” You shook your head.
“There you are, I was looking for you,” Austin broke you two out of your conversation.
“You were?” You looked at him confused. You thought he would’ve just continued talking to your brother, but somehow he managed to get away.
“Yeah, thought we weren’t gonna leave each other's sides.?” He chuckles lightly and grabs your hand.
“Sorry, I was talkin’ to, Kenzie.” You smiled softly and gave his hand a squeeze.
“I saw your sister and Nick pull in.” He told you. You smiled softly and went out to the front with him. You watched as your sister got out in her cute white dress.
“Oh my gosh, Mia! You look so beautiful!” You squealed and walked over to her. She smiled and grabbed your hands in hers.
“Thank you, you look just as beautiful. Now, let’s see this party because I am dying to open presents.” She admitted. You chuckled lightly and shook your head.
“Come on, let’s get you to that party.” You took her over to the party.
The party went amazing, dare you even say perfect. Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches and the cookies. Then, of course, Mia and Nick loved their presents very much. Your sister spoke highly of you, and you were generally just overall happy.
Your mother didn’t speak to you. Your crazy aunt didn’t talk to you again. You would pretty much call that a win. You just spent all your time with your sister and your brother. And of course your in-laws.
You were now back in your room taking off your shoes. Austin was downstairs taking the last of the trash out to the can. You sat down on the bed and started to take off your earrings. One event was done, and now you had a few more left to go.
Maybe you should talk to Austin about the whole… falling in love with him. No no… you can’t do that. This was a whole fake thing. Neither one of you was supposed to fall in love. It was a simple helping a friend out. Nothing more, and nothing less. Though… you two were kissing more than needed.
“Hey, you did amazing,” Austin said as he came into the room. You looked at him and smiled.
“Thank you, I had my amazing boyfriend to help me.” You complimented him. He returned your smile with one of his own.
“Yeah, we make a great couple.” He said softly and sat down next to you. You looked over at him and nodded in agreement.
“Yeah,” You looked down at your hands. “Yeah, we do. I just wish… I wish it was real.” You muttered under your lips.
“You wish it was real?” He asked you.
“W-well,” you quickly look at him. “Not with you of course, I-I, with someone else who actually loved me- w-we are just friends of course so-”
He cut you off by closing the distance between you two. His lips on yours, and yours on his. “I want it to be real.” He muttered against your lips.
“You do?” You whispered lightly and looked into his beautiful eyes.
“I do. God, I do.” He pushed you gently onto the bed. You had no idea what was to come, but god you knew one thing for sure. You wanted it. You wanted him. You wanted his love. You wanted his comfort. You wanted his everything.
I just want to thank everyone who is still here. I appreciate every like, comment, and reblog who heartedly. I want to be able to get back to rebloging some of my favorite fics. I want to be able to expand my writing.
Don't get me wrong, I still have so many ideas for Austin and Elvis. I think I would want to get this whole list done first before I go ahead and start in a new fandom.

Chapter 7: Decoration Run
“Wait, so why do you need a wedding shower? A bachelorette party, and a rehearsal dinner.” You asked Mia as you looked over her many tiny note cards.
“Well, a wedding shower is so that people could bring their gifts ahead of time and not at the wedding. Just to clean up the venue and keep that fairytale aesthetic.” She explained with a smile. You nodded and continued to look through the cards.
“Okay, so you’re fine with it being in the backyard?” You double-checked with her. Though, you two already discussed that it would be in the backyard. You just didn’t want any sudden changes.
“Yes, when we sent the cards out we made sure to give this address. The bachelorette party will only be just the wedding party, and so will the rehearsal dinner will be at the venue, and it will be a few days before the wedding.” She explained.
“Right right… So really I just have to do the wedding shower and the bachelorette party?” You asked her.
“Yeah basically.” She nodded in response.
“Right okay…. So the wedding party is this Friday?” You double-checked with her.
“Yes.” She smiled brightly and clapped her hands together. “I can’t wait. Nick and I will be here around three. Just a bit after the party begins to make an entrance.”
“Noted.” You looked up at her, “Looks like I got my week planned.”
“Hey, you’re doing an amazing job. Thank you for everything, and thank you for helping me find my dress.” You smiled at her compliment and pulled her into a hug.
“You don’t know to thank me. You’re my sister. I love you.”
“I love you too.” She said and pulled away. “Okay, I have to go, we’re getting ready to pick a cake out.” She smiled and stood up.
“You got this,” you smiled at her. She nodded and made her way out. “Oh, hi Austin.” Your sister said as she ran into your fake boyfriend.
“Hey Mia,” he responded as he walked into your room.
“See you two, Friday!” She smiled and gave you both a wave before leaving.
“Friday?” Austin questioned as he pressed a kiss to your head. You hummed and nodded.
“Wedding shower.” You answered as you wrote down a few last things on the notecards.
“I thought they only did those for babies?” Austin responded back confused. In all honestly, you thought the same thing. You have only ever heard of baby showers. Not wedding showers.
“Well, she doesn’t want gifts to be running her wedding. So, she wants a wedding shower. Which I have to prepare for on Friday.” You explained to him as you closed your laptop, and tossed the notecards to the side.
“I’ll help you,” Austin said as he plopped down on your bed.
“We also have to do the bachelor and bachelorette party and make sure the rehearsal dinner goes well.” You sighed and brought your hand up to your face. “I didn’t know being the maid of honor meant I did everything.”
“Your sister trusts you, and she believes in you. I believe in you. You got this.” He held his hands out for you. You smiled softly and grabbed his hands.
“You’re just saying that.”
“Nooo, I mean it.” He said and pulled you closer, causing you to fall onto the bed, right on top of him. Your breath hitched as you realized your close proximity.
“I-I.” Austin chuckled at your response and shook his head.
“You okay there?” He asked. You hummed and nodded. You pulled yourself away a bit and sucked in a breath. You already felt your cheeks heating up. Goddamn, you and your feelings.
“Yeah yeah, I’m all good. I’m so good, I’m coolio.” You tried to cover up, but let’s be honest… you were as bright as a tomato. You didn’t know what to say.
“Coolio?” Austin chuckled lightly. You blushed even harder and pulled yourself away.
“So, you’re coming?” You asked him.
“Yup,” Austin stood back up on his feet.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
“So what’s their theme?” Austin asked as he pushed around the cart.
“It's a fairytale, so anything magical and whimsical.” You answered as you walked down the many aisles of Micheal’s.
“Is it a play on their names? From the princess diaries?” He asked. You turned and faced him. He was catching up on the nicknames you gave your sister and her fiancé.
“Yes, it is.” You smiled and turned back towards the merchandise. You picked up some things and placed them in the cart.
“So, how many people are going to be at this shower?”
“Just as many people as the wedding.” You answered and dug through your purse. “I have the exact number in here somewhere…” you muttered.
“You don’t need to grab it right this minute, Y/n. As long as we grab a rough estimate we’ll be fine.”
“No no, I need it to go perfectly. If it doesn’t go perfectly then I ruin Mia’s wedding shower. I can’t let that happen.” You said as you finally found the paper with RSVPs on it.
“Is it that, or is it your mother?” Austin asked.
“My mother? Why would it be my mother?” You looked at him confused.
“Y/n,” Austin put his hands on your arms and ran them up and down in a comforting manner. “It’s going to turn out perfect. You just have to believe in yourself.”
You nodded listening to his words. “Okay.” You knew he was right, he always was. You just have to believe in yourself. Push all the negative thoughts away.
“Okay,” He replied back and pulled his hands away. You nodded and started to pull things off the shelves. You just needed the decorations. Then you would have to get a bunch of balloons.
You could hire someone to make balloon things, but you would rather do it yourself and save some money. Well, save some of your father’s money. Plus, it would add more meaning to it. Though, it wasn’t something they could keep. It would just go straight into the trash. So, sure you’ll waste some time but… that’s okay.
“Okay… you’ll meet the rest of my family here. Friends don’t really matter. My brother will be coming in. My aunts and uncles. My cushions. The whole zone of family members will be in.” You told Austin.
“Shouldn’t be too bad. We got our story.” He replied back.
“Maybe so, but you haven’t met my aunt. She will ask everything and more.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means, you don’t get… Oh, how did you two meet? No no no. You get that, what was the time you two met? What was she wearing when you fell in love? That kind of stuff. She digs deep for those answers.” You explained. Austin made an oh sound and nodded. “And she’ll dig, and ask us the same stuff just to see if our stories match up.”
“Is she a detective? What the hell?”
“She does it to make sure. She did it with Nick. She just wants to see if they are the ones.” You shrugged because you weren’t even a hundred percent sure if that’s why she did it.
“Interesting. It’s like she’s looking out for you two.”
“Oh, she does it with my brother also.” You mentioned.
“So she’s like that aunt who wants to know absolutely everything, and thinks she’s constantly being lied to?”
“Hmm, in a way yes. She grew up with only brothers so… she was lied to a bunch and was always last to know about things.” You said as you dropped some plasticware in the cart.
“So in the end… we gotta be prepared.”
“Yes, very prepared. If you thought my parents were hard… she’s the one we have to watch out for-” Before you could finish your sentence.
“Y/n?” You turned your head at the sound and saw Noah.
You pressed a fake smile on your face. “Noah, hey.”
“I can’t believe it, it’s been what…” Noah starts to think for a big.
“Yeah yeah, six years.” You nodded as you stood a bit closer to Austin. Noah looked over at Austin and smiled.
“You must be Nick’s best man, I’m Noah,” Noah said as he held out his hand for Austin to shake.
Austin grabbed his hand and the two shook hands. “Nice to meet you. How do you two know each other?” Austin asked.
“Oh, we used to be together. Yeah, we broke up a bit before she ran away.” Noah answered. You rolled your eyes at his response. You didn’t run away. You simply fled from the place that caused you so much pain and sorrow.
“Right well, it was nice to see you again. Let’s uh… Let’s not do this again.” You smiled innocently. Noah looked at you confused.
“Well, I’ll be there on Friday, and at the other events. I am part of the wedding party.”
“Right, I forgot you were Nick’s friend… right. Well, we are very busy so… we have to get going: You forced your smile and pulled Austin along.
“What was that?”
“Noah,” you grumbled under your breath.
“I’m guessing that didn’t end well?” Austin questioned. You shook your head in response. You folded your arms against your chest and let out a sigh.
“We were fine in the beginning, but then as time went… it got worse and worse. Then he broke up with me. And while in some eyes I ran away, I simply fled from the scene.” You shrugged.
“Look, don’t worry about him okay? It’s you and I. You have too much on your mind to worry about some idiotic ex. Besides, you got a new hot boyfriend now.” He smirked. You looked at him and raised your eyebrow.
“All right hot shot, let’s split. I’m going to hit the balloons and fake flowers and whatnot, I need you to grab other decorations. We’ll meet up somewhere in ten or twenty minutes.” You told him. He nodded and you two went your separate ways.
You made your way over to the balloon section and started pulling off the colors you needed. Friday was closer than you wanted it to be, and you didn’t want it to be. Truth be told, you were more nervous about this event than the main wedding.
Maybe that was because you just found out about it, but it just meant there was no escape. You had duties at the actual wedding, here you were just gonna sit around, enjoy food… and converse. The one part you actually didn’t want to do.
It couldn’t be too bad. Just avoid everyone. Just keep to yourself and everything will be fine and dandy. Keep yourself close to Austin, and he’ll do all the talking. You let out a sigh and shake your head. You couldn’t let him do all the talking. You couldn’t just let him do everything just because you think you’ll fuck it up.
Okay, just… clear your mind. You have the stuff to do. You’re here for your sister’s wedding. You aren’t here for shits and giggles. Mia is your priority. You want to make sure everything goes according to plan.
You walked over to the fake plants and flowers and started to pick some out. You really started to regret splitting up, mostly because he had the cart, and you were starting to get overfilled. You let out a sigh and reached for your phone in your pocket. Of course, because your arms were overfilled with an abundance of items, you started dropping them.
“No no no,” you groaned.
“Here let me help you-” You already knew from his voice who that was. The person you didn’t want to see anymore.
“Noah no. I don’t want to talk to you, and I don’t want to see you again.” You spoke to him as you shook your head.
“Still being selfish I see,” he chuckled and started to pick some things up.
“Noah. I said no.” You turned to face him.
“I’m already picking them up, nothing you can do to stop me now.” He stood up. You rolled your eyes at him and pulled out your phone.
“So I was thinking… maybe we could get together for drinks later? Just the two of us,”
“Back away pal. She’s taken.” You looked up and saw Austin. You let out a breath of relief and went over to him. You had no idea how he knew you needed him, but goddamit you were very happy he knew.
“You?”
“Yes.”
“Oh please, like she could pull you. No offense bro, but you are way out of her league.” You let out a gasp and shook your head. He really came here to fight, didn't he? You dropped the balloons into the cart and cracked your knuckles. You were ready to punch this fucking idiot.
“First off, she is way out of your league. I don’t even know how or why she dated you in the first place. Second off, I don’t even feel like I deserve her. She is way too good for me and I deeply love her. So, drop the fake flowers in the cart, and get the fuck out of my face.” Austin looked at him annoyed.
Noah rolled his eyes and dropped the fake flowers in the cart and walked away. “Yeah, you better run you fucking bitch.”
“All right, calm down, this isn’t WWE smackdown.” Austin chuckled. You rolled your eyes at him and leaned up to him and kissed his cheek.
“Thank you for being here.” You said. Austin smiled and perked your chin up to kiss you softly.
“Thank you for bringing me.”

Chapter 6: Mommy Issues
You pressed open the door to your room and peeled off your coat and sat on the bed with your arms crossed. You felt like an absolute child the way you reacted. Austin closed the door when he came in shortly after you. He took off his own coat and looked at you.
“You have to talk to me,” He said as he stood against the dresser. Which happened to be right across from you.
“There is nothing to talk about.” You stated simply. You ignored all eye contact with him. Too much has happened in the past few hours. He saw you at your breaking point. He helped you undress. You two argued for the first time.
“There is plenty to talk about. You just have to talk to me.”
“Why should I talk to you?”
“Hm, I don’t know… maybe because we’re friends… we’re fake dating… Hm, I practically know everything about you, besides the obvious.” You finally looked up at him, tears already threatening to fall down your face.
“Because you’ll leave,” you whispered and brought your hands up to your face. Austin pushed himself away from the dresser and made his way over to you. He grabbed your hands and pulled them away from your face. He lifted your chin with his finger, forcing you to look at him.
“I could never leave you, Y/n. Even when we fell apart, I came when you needed me. No matter what, I will be there for you.” Austin said. You just shook your head not believing him. “Don’t do that. Stop shaking your head.” He grabbed the sides of your face.
“Yes, you will.”
“Stop it. I will not leave. I am here, right by your side.” He whispered and rubbed your face gently. You let out a whimper and closed your eyes.
Austin sat down next to you and wrapped his arms around you. He pulled you close to his chest and rubbed your back. He didn’t know what you went through, or what you’re even going through. What he did know though… is that you needed him. Whether you wanted to admit that or not.
You melted against his body heat. You pressed your face against his chest, and you snaked your arms around him. You slowly made your way onto his lap and wrapped your legs around his torso. You were much more comfortable now than you were before in the shop.
Austin pressed his lips to the side of your head and just held you. Today was a rough day for you, and he wanted to bring as much comfort as he could to you. Maybe you should tell him everything… It would be nice to have someone else besides your therapist. Austin was by your side.
You pulled away after some time and rubbed your eyes. You got rid of the tears and all the negative energy. You took in a deep breath and looked at Austin. You two were close… very close. Almost nose to nose at this point.
“Okay… Okay… I’ll talk.” You whispered and pulled yourself off of you. You couldn’t look him in the eyes. You just couldn't. You didn’t want to see his reaction to how messed up you were.
“Take your time, there’s no rush. Of course, you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to.” He told you. You nodded and rubbed your hands against your shirt. He was respecting your boundaries and your privacy.
“I uh… well… you know I moved to California six years ago. Uh… everything was okay and I was normal. Between that and two years I developed a major depressive disorder. It ruined my life. That’s… that’s when I made up the boyfriend's lie. I didn’t want to leave my place anymore. I just wanted to stay home. I didn’t want to do anything.” You explained to him. Austin nodded to take in the information. He didn’t speak, he didn’t say anything. He gave you the time you needed.
“My therapist said it could be because I felt homesick and I got into this depressive state. I don’t know what to believe. I don’t know how I get it, but I’m doing much better now.” There wasn’t much to tell him, but just getting it off your chest. Telling someone else about your mental issues… It… it felt nice. You didn’t feel alone.
“I just… I don’t want anyone to have to deal with me. They shouldn’t have to deal with someone who’s broken.”
“That’s why you cried in the bridal shop because you thought no one would love you enough to marry you.” Austin placed together. You nodded your answer and looked down at your feet. “Y/n.”
You looked up to face Austin. You didn’t know what he was going to say. Hell, you wouldn’t even blame him for leaving right now. “Yeah…?”
“Any guy would be lucky to have you. You are beautiful, you have an amazing personality. You have the best job in the world. Like come on, imagine coming home and learning about why a criminal acts the way they do?” You smiled softly at his words. “I mean come on, Y/n. You are so much better than you let yourself think.”
“Austin-”
“I wasn’t done,” he interrupted you, “you need to open your eyes because you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m back, and I want to help you with this. We’ll take these small steps on this but you have to put effort. We got a deal?”
You let out a sigh and looked at him. “I don’t know. I got this far on my own, I just feel like it’ll be better if I did it by myself.”
“You don’t have to go through this by yourself anymore… I’m here for you.”
“Yeah until the end of this whole fake shitshow.”
“We got two months, and then we got when we get back. I lost ya once, I ain’t leaving again.” He smiled softly as he caressed your cheek. You heard the doorknob to your room rattling and looked at the door confused.
“Who locked this door!?” You heard your mother exclaimed. Your eyes widened as you looked quickly at Austin.
“You locked the door!?” You whisper yelled at him.
“Yeah?” He looked at you confused.
“My mom has a very strict no-locked-door policy!” You explained and rushed over to the door. Austin was still confused and yet, he was putting together the pieces. Something even you couldn’t do yet.
“Open this door right now!” Your mom said in a loud voice. You sucked in a breath and opened the door.
“Sorry Mom, Austin didn’t know about the policy.” You smiled softly. She held her hands on her hips and looked at you disappointed. She may be an amazing mom, but she had her moments where all you wanted to do was die.
“Mhm, your sister told me about your whole mishap today. What happened?” She asked, but it was more or less something you had to answer.
“I rather not talk about it, Mom,” you answered her simply. She raised her eyebrow at you, and you knew that wasn’t the answer she wanted.
“You will talk about it because Mia is still without a wedding dress.” She stated the obvious. Not to mention, the guys still need their suits altered. Dear lord if your mother found out it was all your fault.
“Yeah, because she didn’t find the one. It isn’t the end of the world. We are going tomorrow to a new loca-” Before you could finish your sentence, your mother decided to interrupt you.
“No no no, she told me you were the one with a wedding dress on.”
“Yeah, because she wanted a break and she thought seeing one on me would refresh her mind-”
“No no no, you are not using that excuse. You are secretly getting married, aren’t you? You two are engaged and plan to get married while on this little trip-”
“Mrs. Y/l/n, I’m sorry to interrupt, but clearly you haven’t noticed… But Y/n has had a rough day and she doesn’t need you putting her down right now. We appreciate you letting us stay here, but if need be, we will find a hotel.” Austin stepped into the conversation. You looked over at him and smiled softly.
“I-” Your mother looked like she was about to blow. Though, she wasn’t one to burst out on her guests.
“If this happens again we’re gonna stay at a hotel.” Your mother nodded and backed away.
“Keep the door unlocked.”
“We will lock it if we like,” Austin said and closed the door. You looked at him shocked. He had the courage to face your mom. Something that you’ve never had. You smiled at him and leaned up on your tippy toes. You grabbed his face and kissed him. Austin’s hands found your hips and kissed back.
“Thank you,” You whispered against his lips before kissing him once again. You don’t know what has gotten into you, or even this little fake relationship. But you two were surely moving forward.

Chapter 5: Meltdown in a Dress
Everything has been going smoothly. Too smoothly in fact. Someone had to know… you had that feeling like someone knew. They had to have known you and Austin were fake. Who? You had no idea… Your mother and father were falling for the fake relationship. Your sister seemed to be buying it. Your brother only met Austin once or twice, but he seemed to be going along with it.
You and Austin were going great. You two got along still which was good. You were worried once you were next to each other twenty-four-seven, you both would have gotten tired of each other. Today was the first time you two were actually apart, and part of you missed him. It seemed silly, but when your hip and hip with someone for the past month or so… you grow to need each other.
So when the day came that you and your sister needed to go dress shopping, and part of you was dreading it. You didn’t know if it had to do with the fact that you weren’t the one getting married… or if it was the fact that you were going to be away from Austin-
“Y/n! Please get off your phone. Austin can wait, I need your opinion.” Mia called from the dressing room.
“I wasn’t on my phhonnneee,” you whined softly and put your phone down. Okay, maybe that was a tiny lie, but to be fair… you were with your sister and Austin was with Nick. You didn’t know what kind of questions were going to come out of either of their mouths. You had to make sure the other stayed true to the story.
Mia was on her fifth dress right now, and it has been well over an hour. Who knew getting into wedding dresses and then picking them could take so long. You had a feeling that you were going to be here for quite some time.
“All right, I’m coming out,” Mia commented and walked out. You looked at her and examined the dress. It was pretty, but it wasn’t your choice. You were mostly here for moral support.
“Beautiful,” you complimented with a smile. She smiled back and looked at herself in the mirror. You could tell she wasn’t feeling this dress. It’s like every dress she found cute just wouldn’t look cute on her. Her words, not yours. You were just hoping that Austin was having a better time than you.
“Yeah… but… it just… it doesn’t look good.” Your sister groaned in frustration. “It isn’t fair. I feel like I tried on the whole store.”
“You tried on five,” you mumbled under your breath, but she heard you.
“Not the time, Y/n.” She sighed and shook her head. “I need a break. How about you try on one?”
“I’m not the one getting married.” You pointed it out to her.
“Maybe not, but maybe it will help me… please?” She smiled. You let out a sigh. There could be no harm in it, right? You’re just trying on a white dress. Nothing more to it than that.
“Fine fine… I’ll go pick one out while you get changed out of that.” You pushed yourself up onto your feet. You walked over to the dresses and looked through them. How do you even go to pick out a dress? There is no clear answer to picking a wedding dress.
Just pick it until you find one you like. That was the best way to describe it. A dress may look a certain way on someone… but it does not mean that it will look like that on your body. You just try and try and eventually you might find one you like enough o get married one.
You didn’t really care which one you tried on. You just wanted to get it over with. So, as you picked off a random one you went to the changing room to get changed, and… it really was hard to get it on. It can be its own Olympic sport. Imagine putting doc martins on… but times it by fifty and you will not have the answer.
You had to make sure you didn’t rip anything. You had to make sure everything was perfect. You had to make sure you had it on the right way… which is more difficult than you would think. However, once it was on you made your way out toward the mirror. As you made your way over you heard your sister gasping behind you.
“Now why can’t I look that beautiful in a wedding dress.” She lightly complained. You chuckled lightly and finally looked at yourself. She was right… you looked absolutely beautiful. Now you weren’t one to call yourself beautiful, but you gave yourself credit when needed.
You felt yourself get overwhelmed. It was like your brain realized something and was erupting all of your emotions out at once. It was the fact that you knew this would never happen. You would never be the one buying a wedding dress for your own wedding. I mean hell, you had to lie to your family about having a fake boyfriend!
No one wanted you, and no one wanted someone who could barely leave their house. You shook your head to try and stop the tears but you quickly made your way back into the dressing room. You wanted out of this goddamn dress.
“Everything okay, Y/n?”
“Go away!” You called out to her and tried to get out of the dress, but you just grew more and more irritated. You couldn’t get the goddamn thing off and you were about to rip someone’s head off.
“Come on, let me in. Let me help.”
“I said to go the fuck away, Mia!” You yelled at her and fell to the ground. You covered your face with your hands and let the tears fall. You couldn’t believe yourself right now. You were sitting on the ground of a wedding dress shop, crying your eyes out! You looked so pathetic.
You could barely hear Mia anymore due to your sobs. She had to be talking to someone because she wasn’t talking to you. At least she stopped bothering you. That was at least one win. The second was… well… it was trying to get out of here. You couldn’t stay there for hours. You would be kicked out eventually and have to deal with the embarrassment.
At the tuxedo shop, Nick saw that his soon-to-be wife was calling him. “Hey, everything going okay?” Nick answered.
“Well, it was going pretty good… but Y/n... she won’t come out,” Mia explained from the other end of the phone.
“Uh- sweetheart, you’re going to have to give me some context here.” He told her.
“Oh right, sorry. So, I’m trying on dresses and none of them are doing it. So, I told Y/n to try on a dress. So that I could get a break and cleanse my pallet. I don’t know what happened. One second she’s looking in the mirror and the next she’s crying in the dressing room. She won’t let me in, she won’t even listen to me.” Mia explained the situation. Nick let out a sigh and rubbed his face.
“Did you happen to trigger anything?” He questioned. He wasn’t stupid. He knew that you were going through something. Hell, anyone would be able to pick up on that.
“No. At least I don’t think I did. She’s a very private person you know this.” Mia tried to stand her ground. She really didn’t think she triggered something. However, who’s to know what does and doesn’t trigger someone?
“I know… I know… Okay, Austin is getting his measurements, I can see if we can swing by once we’re done here.” He told her.
“How long will that be?” Mia questioned in return.
“Uh… Twenty, thirty minutes.” He tried to figure it out. It took a while to take measurements, so there is no set time that it would take.
“I only have this place until two, Nick. You guys have to come now.”
“If we leave Austin is left without measurements.” He pointed out to her.
“We’ll worry about that later! Just get here please!” Mia begged her fiancé.
“Fine fine fine, we’ll be right there,” Nick said and hung up. He stood up and made his way over to Austin. “We got to go.”
“How come?” Austin asked as he looked over at Nick.
“Some girl drama, your girlfriend is refusing to leave the dressing room,” Nick explained. Austin raised his eyebrow in confusion. Why would you be hiding in a dressing room? Did you run into an ex?
“Right, well I’m almost done here,” Austin reassured him, but that clearly was not enough.
“We got to go now,” Nick said and looked over at the tailor. “We’re really sorry about this. Could we come by later after we figure this out?”
“Yeah, that’s no issue. Just give me a heads up.” The tailor pulled back his measuring tape. “If you give me a call I can make sure I grab the right measurements before you guys come back.”
“Great, thank you so much, I’ll pay you when we return?” Nick questioned. He doubt the tailor would agree, but it didn’t hurt to ask. Apparently, he was in a rush and had to leave right this second.
“Yes, that’s okay.”
Back in the dressing room you still sat on the ground. Your knees up to your chest, the best you could at least. You were overreacting. Just get up and dust yourself off. Calm down, take the dress off… and then leave. It can’t be that hard.
Just push yourself up… come on, you got this. You pressed your feet flat against the floor and tried to push yourself up. Even if you wanted to, your body wouldn’t let you. You were hurting… inside… everything hurt. You felt just insanely tired and you didn’t understand. One thing you’re saying yes and no, and the next you’re being a brat.
There was a light knock on the door followed by a soft voice. “Y/n, honey…”
“Au-Austin?” You whispered out. What was he doing here? He was supposed to be with Nick getting their tuxedos fitted.
“Yeah, can I come in?” He asked. Should you let him in? Allow him to see you at your worse? Tears running down your face, trembling from the hurt… You rather no one see you like this, but you knew you couldn’t stay like this forever.
“Yeah…” The door opened and Austin walked in and looked down at you. He closed the door behind you and sat down next to you.
“Hey, what’s wrong? What happened?” He asked softly.
“Nothing, just… going through it is all.”
“Come on, we know everything about each other. You can tell me.” You let out a frustrated breath and shook your head.
“I just told you, I’m going through it.” You reacted yourself.
“But I know there is more to it.” Austin looked at you.
“Why do you care? It’s not like you’re my boyfriend. You’re my fake boyfriend. There’s a difference.” You snapped back at him. Austin let out a sigh and shook his head.
“You’re right, but you’re my friend. I care a lot about you, and I want to help.”
“There’s nothing you can do to help,” you said softly and leaned your head against the wall. “You’ll end up falling in love and getting married. Being out there… staring at myself… the truth hit me. No one will ever want to marry me. No one will ever get to see me in a wedding dress.”
“Honey, you can’t say stuff like that.” Austin wrapped his arm around you, “life has a weird way of working. You may feel as if no one wants to marry you… but trust me… people want to marry you. People look at you with love and you just don’t realize it. Give it some time, and you’ll be in a happy relationship.”
You turned your head and looked at him, “you don’t know that.”
“But I do,” Austin whispered and brought his thumb up to your cheeks. He wiped away the loose tears that fell from your eyes. Austin smiled and caressed your cheek lightly.
“How do you know…?”
“Just trust me,” He closed the distance between the two of us. His lips fell on mine, and the next thing I knew we were kissing. You didn’t know if it was for show, or if it… or if it was true. That he wanted to kiss you, and not just play the part of a fake boyfriend.
God, this was going to be a hard couple of months.

Chapter 4: Time Spent Together
The car ride was rather quiet and slow that you could have a few minutes of shut-eye. Yet, it was still too quick for your nerves. The house you grew up in came quickly to view and it was at this moment you realized you and Austin were taking this friendship to the next level. You two were obviously going to share a bed, and your mom had a strict no-lock policy.
It was in case of emergencies, so if someone from your family walked in and saw either you or Austin sleeping on the floor they would immediately know. It will be fine… it will be okay. Austin has your back and you know he will find his way through any question. It was all going to work out.
Austin was very kind to take all the luggage and so as you made your way towards the door, it swung open and your mother walked out. She gasped and quickly closed the distance between you too. You smiled gently and returned her hug. It was nice to see your family again after your very rough years.

Chapter 3: And so it Begins
The two of you made your way off of the plane and found a spot to perch up at. You rubbed your face and tore off the bag that rested against your shoulder blade. Austin stood close by your side and watched your every move. You held your phone up and pressed your back against the wall. As you found your sister’s contact you pressed the call button. The phone rang and you slide down the wall so that you were sitting down.
Remember how you said you were going to leave the apartment at three this morning? Well, it wasn’t like that didn’t happen. You very much did leave on the dot. You just didn’t get any sleep. You were running around the apartment filled with nerves. Austin tried to help you the best he could, but there was nothing you could do to stop these anxious-induced emotions.
You did not like the taste of coffee, not that it even did anything for you, so you opted out of it. Next on the list was an energy drink, which you did have. Then again it did nothing for you. For some reason that you could not explain, caffeine brought no extra joint of energy to your system. When you got onto the flight itself you were knocked out. It was a decent length, almost six hours give or take.
