Modern Glenwood Language

So i recently came to learn that there was a short in-universe book that was shipped with Japanese pre-orders of Zestiria, called “Lxi himgnowlout uz Yniitcuuh” which is not the Ancient Tongue, but instead the modern language used in the wanted posters as well as probably other in-universe text, like the gravestone in the epilogue

Actually the guide book already gives a cipher key: EFGHIZYXOPQRSTUWVNMLABCKDJ

Which… I didn’t realise until after I already spent half an hour figuring it out oops.

But the names are faithful to the English localisation, so it was easy to crack. It’s a monoalphabetic substitution cipher, meaning when you write one letter it actually refers to a different letter. You can use this to convert.

Thus, “Lxi himgnowlout uz Yniitcuuh” decodes to “The Description of Greenwood”

So, canon names are:

Shiramine, the mangaka of the manga adaptation, also uses it in this tweet which translates to “To Shepherds of a Futureage Age”.

Additionally, one of the pictures in the wanted post link above also includes a note with Lunarre that I can’t read but it starts with “Note of the wind, [illegible] comes first”.

It’s a fairly simple cipher, and it’s not really one you wanna pronounce out loud like the Ancient Tongue, but I never knew about it when I was in fandom back in the day and there was no translation post that I could find, so!
