gods, i'm entralled by cantarella and how she carries herself for the outside world vs. in private moments tucked away from everything

SPOILERS FOR THE WUWA 2.2 UPDATE BELOW

it's the way that she makes herself out to be a villain, despite everything in her companion quest and the main story quest saying the opposite. she willingly gave her power to imperator to help cartethyia / fleurdelys fight the threnodian for a time, the way she schemed to keep all the girls who underwent the divine trials with her safe and get them back home in time. all of her good deeds are carefully hidden behind a facade of some sort ( but that's another post in and of itself, one day )

i think a lot of it ties into her own self perception and how she doesn't see herself as a hero or capable of doing good deeds, even after all we've seen her do. after all, every story needs a villain and she's content with being one of rinascita's

when eyes are on her, she's a siren, a femme fatale, a villain to the people of rinascita. she's not even a person, she's the 36th head of the fisalia family. a 'bane', even. but when we get to see her for her, she's a survivor, standing tall and maintaining her grace and nobility despite a seriously dark past and even darker history looming over her family

gods, i'm always going to be upset whenever i think about how much dan feng sacrificed for his duty. i've thought this on and off, but in a metaphoric sense, imbibitor lunae destroyed dan feng. to be imbibitor lunae, to be the high elder of the vidyadhara, he gave up his individuality and humanity. he gave up his freedom and followed behind every other individual who became imbibitor lunae since the first and i'M
