Get to Know Me
(1/?)
Her favourite milkshake flavour is strawberry, but she’s super picky about where she goes to get it and how it tastes - it can’t be too syrupy or fake yet neither can it be a smoothie in disguise. Its texture has to be smooth and effortless, plenty of bubbles and a soft pink, reminiscent of a bunny’s nose.
She can’t help it, but purple lipstick reminds her of Dorcas. Of an unexpected friend lost too soon. So she hates when her superior, Florence wears it in the office, the reminder of days gone by highly unnecessary for her. She’s very big on forgetting the past - goals are all about the future, after all.
Emma has an older brother, Kevin. He’s far more tame than her with a much better, more people-friendly disposition. He’s quite bulky and athletic like her with a bright smile she can’t stop herself from cringing at. Everyone often wonders when they meet him how the two of them could be related and gush about his lovely temperament. After living with it for the last twenty three years, she’s given up denying how bitter she is about it.
She can’t get past seven on Flappy Bird.
Emma is grateful that her parents never gave her a Korean birth name. She’s not ashamed of her heritage, not at all. But with the burst of k-pop nowadays, she’d hate to be fawned over because of her background.
Her casual gambling might not be so causal any more. (She won’t say, for her pride’s sake, but it’s edging on a serious problem. The money and glory she earns for her darker deeds slipping through her fingers like water the moment she hears Rab has a match on. She...trusts him.)
She’s not one of those cliche, Pinterest organisers when it comes to setting and maintaining goals. No cutesy minimalist bullet journals or muted pastel stationary with rose gold binding.
Her thing is post-it notes and chicken scrawl handwriting.
Everywhere - on the fridge, in her wallet or the inner soles of her shoes. Wrinkled and wet in her pocket or accidentally stuck to the back of Antonin’s jacket.
(They always get completed.)

Two people who were once very close can without blame or grand betrayal become strangers. Perhaps this is the saddest thing in the world.
