The numbers reveal the neighborhood’s location, and its age with the 1st arrondisse-ment at the heart of the city being the oldest. There is not just one interesting area to visit, but many. Each arrondissement has its own character, flavor and style. The French capital is rich in museums, art galleries and monuments. The Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower are not exactly off the beaten track but there are many places to discover in Paris that aren’t commonly frequented by tourists. Surrounding Paris, the Ile de France takes in 4,600 square miles of busy suburb and commuter towns punctuated by castles, the most celebrated being Versailles, Fontainebleau, and Chantilly

NORMANDY - Basse Normandie, Haute Normandie

Not very far from Paris, you will find the welcoming region of Normandy with its varied coastline and rich countryside.Normandy is a region of apple orchards and contented cows, cider and famously pungent cheese but the region also includes the windswept beaches of the Cotentin peninsula and the wooded banks of the Seine River valley.It goes without saying that the beaches of the D-Day landings of 1944 and particularly the American cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer are powerful sites to visit.

Rich in history, Rouen is termed the “museum city” but it is also famous for its 11th century cathedral and its connection with Joan of Arc.
