Why the hell

Is that when convicted guilty of rape to any degree, the jail sentence isn't life? The attacker just simple gets slapped on the hand and gets a couple years in jail. I've always felt very strongly about this topic but lately it's been driving me up a wall. First was the swimmer, Brock Turner, who only got 6 months in jail after being caught on top of a girl behind a dumpster. He was guilty of three felonies and only got 6 damn months? Seriously? He striped that poor girl of her worth, her pride, her trust in men. She will forever live looking over her shoulder in public because God knows when it will happen again. And that's only worth 6 months jail time. Closer to me in the past weeks a high school special Ed teach was found guilty of sexually violating a 13 year old boy on several occasions at both the house of the victim and at the house of the now ex teacher. The sentence has yet to be decided as the trial is still ongoing. But it's still huge because how often to people act as if males, disabled or not, have nothing to worry about? It's ridiculous to even think that it's only females that are targets. Another case near me is a 52 years old woman that was found guilty of first degree rape, first degree attempted rape and two counts of second degree promoting prostitution and what sentence does she get? 40 years in jail. What type of sentence is that?! These people are monsters and deserve to be killed or rot in jail. They stripe people of their self worth, feed off of the victims' insecurities only to try to make them (the abuser) feel better. It's pathetic and disgusting and the issue of rape I swear isn't talked about enough in the right way. WE NEED TO TEACH NOT TO RAPE! Rather than take self defense classes to avoid getting raped we should just teach people not to rape. It's a novel concept, I know. Who would have thought of such a thing. But seriously why do we give such short sentences to people that are taking away someone's self esteem, trust, happiness, sometimes childhood, and just all around life? It's truly sad and something needs to be done about it. We have the numbers, we just need to make our voices heard on the issue because I, and I'm sure others as well, am sick of seeing abusers walk away unharmed while the victims are left grieving for the rest of their lives...
