Activity description

Designing and drawing room necessities for a room makeover.

Reflection

As my mom worked as an interior designer, I have always been in the world of design and so developed skills and sense for this job. With a help of a designing firm, my creations and vision were able to be realised.

My particular job was to draw, sketch and design two beds, one table, one nightstand, one dresser a d one closed shelf. Then, I measured the room so that measurements for the objects in the making could fit in. I measured and chose the height and length of the objects that I wanted. Then I also had to measure and order the right size of the mattresses. After that, I picked the materials and colors. I decided to go for the limed oak wood as the base for each object. Additionally, I chose white and black colors for the dresser because these are staple, neutrals that fit in well with most other additional details that one might choose to add to the room.

It took me a month to design and choose the right materials and colors of the furniture, a month for the production and lastly a week of installation.

I am very glad that I got the opportunity to try this out, because I not only had so much fun, but I also learned so many things. I am very satisfied with how everything turned out and also very proud of myself for accomplishing a successful and useful first time designing project.

Designing clothes for a fashion show as a part of the Week of art organized in Gimnazija Banja Luka.

Reflection

This was one of the high school experiences that I will always remember and share with others. I have always loved fashion, and even though I could see myself working in the fashion industry, I have never thought that this is how I would start that journey. I made two outfits- one female and one male outfit and I am very satisfied with the final results. I spent quite some time making these pieces and a lot of effort as I tried to do my best.

I have always loved learning languages. I speak three languages so far, and I intend to learn a few more. I love Italy and its culture so I figured that this could be a startup :) So far, I am loving this language, and cannot wait to use it in everyday conversations in the future.

Modeling for a beauty salon.

Reflection

I have been thought to take care of my skin, hair and nails from an early age. Hence, I have continued to do so till this day. I take care of my skin and hair on a daily basis and until a year ago, so did I do with my nails as well. However, as I got older, I started to have fewer time for nail nourishment, and so I started going to a professional nail artist. As I became a regular, I also became a model for new manicure designs, which I always happily agree on going.

I very much like doing experiments in our Biology classes. It shows us a new perspective and point of view, and demonstrates that the theoretical background has been applied. This not only helps us understand Biology better, but it also helped us to realize how much fun Biology can be.

My mom and grandmas love to bake. Therefore, as I grew in such environment, cooking and specifically baking became something that I do regularly in my free time. As time passed by, this became volunteer work as well, as I bake for others.

Reflection

I have always been very interested in studying and learning about the human body, which is why I have for a long time considered medicine as my career. As life has pointed me in a different direction, and I won’t be studying anatomy and physiology officially, I decided to keep this as a free-time activity. This has always been a passion of mine, because this is a real life matter that considers all human beings. If we understand the processes of a human body, we can understand how to maintain it and keep it healthy, allowing a longer and more qualitative life.

Preparing for the DSD II proficiency exam- practicing and doing reading and listening comprehension and writing tasks, and making a presentation as part of the oral exam.

Reflection

DSD program is very challenging, and therefore I have tried to prepare myself as best as I could. I have gone through old past exam papers and that way practiced my reading, listening and writing skills. Lastly, I have been obligated to make a presentation on a chosen topic and prepare it in advance as one part of the oral exam. I am very glad that I have been a part of the DSD program because it showed me what a challenging environment and program looks like.

In order to prepare for the Christmas Fair, my classmates and I have gathered to make soap bars, so that we can make as many as possible since they’re known as the most sold item at the fair. We had a lot of fun because we got to spend some time together and chat while we do the work.

During the visit to Višegrad and the famous bridge after which the nobleman Ivo Andrić named his novel "Na Drini ćuprija", we had the opportunity to visit all the places from the book. But one of the most interesting tasks during the research was recreating scenes from the novel. Each student, individually or in a group, was given the task of finding their favorite scene and trying to act it out.

School Trip to Višegrad

On the occasion of the reading of the book “Na Drini ćuprija” by Ivo Andrić, our Serbian language teacher offered to organize a trip to the main places from the book, so that the students could expand their knowledge and further understanding of the book. In addition to visiting and socializing in the class, we also had the opportunity to meet the students of their high schools.

Reflection

As we were coming back from Paris, we stopped by in Salzburg. We visited the Mirabell Palace and Gardens, the Salzburg Cathedral and Mozart’s Birthplace and Residence. Salzburg is a city with rich history, architecture and natural beauty which is very well maintained, which is also why I’m glad that we visited it.

Visiting Disneyland

Activity Description:

During our stay in Paris, my friend and I decided to visit Disneyland. We are both lovers of Disney cartoons and movies so we couldn't wait to take pictures with Disney characters, see houses, buy souvenirs and go on rides. In addition to the fun, laughter and magic we experienced, we also encountered obstacles that we successfully solved in the end. Going to Disneyland, we both found ourselves on the French train line for the first time. All the instructions were in French, and no one was there to help us because no one knew how to speak the languages that we know, and so we extended the one-hour trip to a three-hour trip and doubled the price of the tickets.

Musée des Parfums á Paris

Activity description

Visiting a perfume museum in Paris.

Reflection

As France is a country where perfume production became established back in the 14th century, its cities celebrate that establishment including Paris. My friend and I got a tour of the museum that was followed with storytelling by a lady who worked there. She explained the history of fragrances, how were they made and used in the past versus today. As the building of this museums contains two floors, the first is of historical significance. The second floor is where the tour finishes as it leads to the store of perfumes and skin care products which were made in France. This was a very nice experience because we got to learn a lot about other significances of France and its cities.

Activity Description:

Paris is known for being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and during the autumn vacation my friend and I decided to explore it. This was the first time for us to travel alone for a long period of time. We spent the days before the trip thinking about what we would visit and making plans. We managed to see various sights, enjoy French food, get to know the charms of Paris and its history. Although we had fun, we also had to be extremely resourceful, smart, independent so that they could take care of ourselves.

Activity description

Earthquake practice organised by the school.

Reflection

In honor of the earthquake that happened in Banjaluka in 1969, our school organised a practice which is supposed to prepare us in the case of a real earthquake. Few of these were organised, in order for the students to be prepared as much as possible. I find this to be very helpful because it introduced us to what the process and actions would be like in the appearance of an earthquake.
