I didn’t mean to leave this hanging like that AHHSHSHSH

So!!! It went like this

This is set very late in the mount silver era of Red & Green’s relationship (or lack of at that time). Red is doing his mountain thing , being unsafe as all get out and living by himself on a hostile freezing mountain.

Green is busy being a depressed gym leader that’s ignoring all of his feelings in favor of working 24/7. He’s visited Red a few times, to absolutely no luck in getting through to him or making progress repairing their friendship (if anything he’s realized he might have made things worse by yelling more than he should have, all those repressed feelings bubbling up when he doesn’t plan to).

So Green hasn’t visited in a while. He does leave his starter with Red on an excuse that it needs extra training and that his gym battles are too ceremonial to really level up. In reality he’s scared for Red but too emotionally constipated to verbalize any of that.

Ethan still visits Red and Green semi regularly when he’s in town and is trying to help his friends out where he can. So Green is used to getting sporadic updates from Ethan on this or that- most importantly, the answer is always ‘no, Red’s not coming back down’ and Green usually clocks out after that.

Green is used to Ethan’s cautiously optimistic demeanor every time he brings up Red, so he knows something is wrong, really wrong, one day when Ethan shows up at his gym looking frazzled.

In fact, Green gets a little panicked especially as Ethan is struggling more and more to answer his questions about what’s going on.

Finally, Ethan just manages to get out the name of a hospital and that’s all Green hears and he is GONE. Ethan barely processes a flutter of pidgeot feathers before he realizes Green has left.

When Green gets to the hospital he uses every one of his credentials to get to Red’s room as quick as possible. And when he gets there it’s quite a scene- the nurses clearly are hovering around but can’t get close and there is the whole of Red’s team and full agro around him.

Confusingly- Red is awake?! Green feels himself breathe for the first time in like 20 minutes, just in time for a nurse to snatch him by the collar and yank him back into the hall. He expects to be chided for just walking in where he doesn’t belong, but instead they’re frazzled too.

As far as they can tell, Red is not a fan of all this hospital stuff and strangers he doesn’t know poking at him happening. The nurses can’t even get a clear enough exam to figure out what happened but they think it’s some kind of head injury. Believe it or not Red , living by himself on a dangerous chunk of icy mountain was really dangerous !!

The only one that can get close is Red’s mom. And just then she peaks back out into the hall and says Red wants to see Green.

And he’s cautiously like…. ‘Okay if you say so’

Like he did just sprint over here but also their relationship has nOT been the best the last couple of years. Honestly he wasn’t sure what he was thinking when he even came over here. But she’s insisting and so he’s like sure whatever. He figured the worst that can happen is that he’ll get to yell some sense into Red.

What he does nOT expect is .. the absolute JOY on Red’s face when he sees Green. Green is a little startled, to be honest he hasn’t seen Red smile in … years. Much less at him.

So now he’s feeling a little flustered and confused. So he just takes a seat in one of the shitty waiting chairs and tries to see how things play out. And Red’s mom is trying to convince Red to put his pokemon away with no luck. He’s being so stubborn. Thick arms crossed and pouting- he’s pouting! They’re almost in their 20’s and he’s pouting!

Green’s finally like ‘wouldn’t you rather fight me, not these nurses. They probably collectively have one level 5 chansey ’

Red finally looks at him again, and he looks intrigued. He calls all his Pokemon back, (except Pikachu , but pika settles down warily).

His mom is so grateful and mouths a ‘thank you’ and instantly scurries out the room- probably to get a nurse or something.

Green is just left there with his childhood friend turned rival who… is just smiling at him. Green is feeling kinda flustered like … the last several years Red has only greeted him with impassivity or anger. Green isn’t quite sure what to do. Red has never been one to fill the silence so Green finally awkwardly starts asking random questions-

how’re you feeling?

A shrug in response. Red did look scuffed up pretty bad but no outwardly rough injuries or pain. He did need to be checked over but that could wait.

How’s Charizard ?

Red looks a bit bashful, calling her back out from her ball to show Green that her wings are a bit scuffed. “She needs healing. Tried to stop the landslide with herself” he signs out. He’s looking really embarrassed.

Green is already tsking and pulling out a potion to heal her when Red gets to the part about landslide and he’s back to being fully alert again. He’s asking if anyone else was trapped and Red keeps shaking his head ‘no’ each time. He just taps the pokeballs in his belt giving them a thumbs up.

Red sheepishly admits they need patching up too and Green exasperated demands Red hand them over so he can take them to a nurse. Red is hesitant but agrees. ‘Pika too’ Green demands and Red fROWNS but give the rat a little kiss on the head and sends him back to his ball too.

He looks so sad and dejected that Green sends out eevee to cuddle with him a bit while Green takes the rest of Red’s team to a nurse.

The nurses are so shocked like “how did you get his team away from him??” And Green forgot that was even a goal. He was just in Pokémon trainer mode for a bit.

His mom gets back- she has what looks like a home cooked meal and looks out of breath like she ran home for it.

‘What he’s too good for hospital food?’ Green asks and his mom sorta looks like she’s about to cry and says that she hopes it’ll help spark his memory. And green is like ‘whaaaat are you talking about??’

And it’s only then that he’s informed that… Red remembers the accident and… then not much else. He’s only responded so far to his mom and now Green. He doesn’t recognize the lot other trainer friends, he doesn’t recognize the gym leaders. He doesn’t remember much of … well anything. And Green has a ‘holy shit’ moment.

After a lot of cajoling, Red finally gets a proper examination, bandaged up and all that. Thankfully his external injuries were very minor however the gaps in his memory are concerning to say the least.

He’s kept in the hospital for a couple more weeks as his other injuries heal up and they bring in a psychic type to try to help scan his thoughts to see what’s going on.

Weirdly enough, every time Green visits he could have sworn Red is exactly the same. Well, more friendly, but the same. He’s able to continue any conversation with Green, joking about past in jokes they had, apologizing about letting Green’s charizard get hurt too.

It seems like things are… almost back to normal for them and Green doesn’t know how to feel about this. While he’s with Red he’s lit up again, so happy to just have his friend back and hang out like old times again but then when he’s alone again it his him like a ton of bricks (or a landslide perhaps) that … he’s the reason their friendship broke apart. He’s the one that was an absolute asshole to Red for years. The only reason things are back to normal is because Red literally can’t remember how much of an asshole his friend is. And green feels torn up about it.

Anywyas it’s finally the day Red is getting discharged and to his surprise Red is just like ‘I’m coming with Green’

Even his mom is like ?? But she agrees if it makes Red happy and if Green is okay with it. And green is like … UH I have a very small apartment. But like okay??????

Tired of official merch clothing that is just a default official drawing duplicated all over & slapped onto an a-line dress or a shirt or pants or whatever with no regard to the fact it is clothes and how those patterns look on the body and no regard to any design on how it looks to wear.
