hey, if you're a usamerican getting the news, not knowing what to do, this is really really really good time to get acquainted with the national council on independent living, the independent living movement, and your local centers for independent living.

independent living centers provide services and support by disabled people for disabled people and can help with: navigating systems, self-advocacy, and accessing services, among many other things. in their truest form, CILs function not in the model of state agencies, but as a form of structured in-community mutual aid. my local CIL provides services like counseling, advocacy, grants to cover some home needs, and meals on wheels for disabled adults under sixty-five. CILs can't fill all the gaps in services we have in this country, but they do important work to keep people alive. if you need help, your local center for independent living may be able to help. if you can give help, your local center for independent living can definitely use your help!!!!!

We have been busy in the shop, and I was able to update our website with a bunch of delightful new things!

Lots of delightful new pens, and a bunch of dual ended seam ripper/stilettos as well.

We have 2 themed shows this month; a pirate party and a Woodstock Revival show. I am so excited!

So, exactly one year ago I did this:

It's a fully hand woven pride flag, and this time I went further than ever with all the work. I studied how to weave, I built the weaving loom, and only then wove the flag, which took about two full weeks. It's far from perfect, but I am so proud (pun fully intended) of how it turned out.

It's made with and of love (the rest is 100% cotton 😌); not meant for me, but ended up with me in the end

It will always be a dear memory, with all that it entails

And now, one year from there, I am so so happy ❤️

I've pressed the Big Donation Button on Patreon, which means in a few days the funds for the survey software will arrive, which means the survey is coming soon!

In an attempt to make the survey accessible to more people, I've set up a presence for the Gender Census on some new platforms. They're places where people usually host very social stuff for big groups, but restricted so that only I can post, because there's no way I can handle all that moderation! So they're more like accessible one-way broadcast channels.

They'll just send out announcements about the survey being open, the survey closing soon, the results being posted, and crowdfunding stuff being launched.

I'm hoping that it'll be a good way for people who use those platforms a lot to be reminded if they wouldn't otherwise have a reliable way for me to get the signal out to them.

I wanted to do WhatsApp too, but it would force me to expose my phone number to potentially many thousands of people, so that one will take me a little longer to set up while I work out the logistics.

So yeah, let me know in the replies/reblogs what you think about this, and if there's any platforms I could try branching out to. Anything that might connect the survey with a new background or age group could be worth a try. (Except Twitter, which is extremely boring and full of nazis now, obvs.)
