theres a drawing hanging in your son's preschool. he's scribbled something on the top that he insists says family, but maybe says something like "fannity" instead.

its got you (at least, you're pretty sure its you) and him, holding hands, with monoma on the other side of the paper. monoma is drawn with bright yellow hair and shocking blue eyes, with a wide line for a smile.

In between is... a blob. It's Grey and purple, with... that's maybe a frown, or maybe fangs?

When you ask, your son just sighs.

"Mom," He's three going on thirteen. "It Shinso."

"Why did you make him so...?" You turn the paper sidewats. "Squibbly."

"'cause he's scary."

"You think he's scary?" you laugh, despite how nervous that makes you.

"Cool scary. Like monsters," he nods firmly.

"Okay. Like monsters."

That night, against your better judgement, you show a picture to Shinso.

"I think it's supposed to be your hero costume," you turn to explain, but hitoshi stays silent. he turns the phone in his hands, nodding stiffly. A long moment passes before you reach out and take his arm.

"'toshi, don't be sad."

"I'm not sad, I--" he swallows, then speaks with reverence. "He put me on the family picture."
