AHHHH! I have just submitted for my final ever uni assessment...Feels incredible to have this now done and dusted, all that’s left to do now is my Viva Voce! I am so proud of myself for how far I have come since first year, the things that I have achieved, and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead in the future.
BCU you’ve been a gem!

I can’t believe its this close to the end, and I have now completed my final ever submission document! Now that this is out of the way I can focus on the grad show, and tying up some lose ends with my modules.

DEVELOPMENT // THEO x ASOS MARKETPLACE
26.5.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
THEO is now on ASOS and this is the most exciting thing ever! How incredible to not only see my work on THEO’s own website, but now on one of the largest online retailers! I am looking forward to working alongside THEO in the future to see where the clothing brand heads, and it has been great to see it evolve from where it first began over two years ago.
A massive achievement for THEO!

DEVELOPMENT // ITEMS ON SALE
15.5.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
A bit of an update on THEO clothing, as it has been pushed aside because of the other projects that are on the go. Some exciting news however, that some of my logos have now been put onto products, and are on the website ready to be bought! I will continue to work on this post-deadline, because there are other pieces of work that need to be completed beforehand.

DEVELOPMENT // FURTHER DESIGNS
19.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Following on from some feedback from Ewan, I have spent some time developing a range of designs. Having then sent these over to Ewan, he said that his fave is number nine, which can be seen in the second image. I then took this design and experimented around with it within a circle, so that there is a variety of imagery for the clothing.

RESEARCH // HOAX
19.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Ewan sent me across this design today, as an interesting way of using a different combination of fonts. I really like the way that the fonts overlap each other, to make a condensed design. The hierarchy of the type also works really nicely, to create a very effective design.

DEVELOPMENT // SIMPLE DESIGNS
15.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Moving on from the discussion that I had with Ewan, these are some of my starting designs that follow the notes that I took down from him. Ewan was keen on the simple designs, as well as thinking about a box. He also wants to make sure that the designs can work even if they are quite small on the designs.

RESEARCH // HORIZON BAY
15.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Horizon Bay is a brand that Ewan pointed out to me, who have a few select products that work really well. For example, the sweatshirt shown in the top image is a good source of inspiration for the use of type, as it has such tiny type at the bottom of the design - which no-one really cares about / reads but it is there to look cool. The yellow hoodie in the second image is also a good inspo reference, because of the different uses of type and the hierarchy of them, which is also something to consider when working on my THEO ideas.

RESEARCH // BRANDY MELVILLE
15.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
I’m not too sure how this would work, but Brandy Melville are a clothing company who only manufacture their clothes in one size. This came up in conversation with Ewan when I suggested about designing as a unisex brand, instead of trying to cater for both men’s and women’s designs - as a starting point.
While on the discussion of Brandy Melville, they don’t actually brand any of their clothing, so you wouldn’t really know it was theirs. Ewan defiantly wants to have his clothing branded, but he also said that he loves their instagram aesthetic. He wants the clothes to look like theyre being worn, so they’re everyday clothes that are stylish and snappable. He said he basically would love their instagram but with his branded clothes! This gives me a good direction for the sort of designs and look he is going for.

DEVELOPMENT // DIGITALISING DESIGNS
14.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Following on from the previous post with my initial design sketches, I then thought I would quickly digitalise some of the designs I had sketched out. Everything always looks different and more refined when it has been digitalised, so this will give Ewan more of an idea of how some of them will look.
FEEDBACK.
Having sent these over to Ewan, we then had a phone call discussing them and figuring out the direction his brand is going to go in. He is going to be working on thinking of an overall logo for the brand - something that distinctly THEO, and he wants me to continue working on a variety of designs to put onto products. We also discussed some more sources of inspiration, that I can research into to help with the direction that he is aiming to go in. He also picked out some designs that he liked, so that I know what to continue forward with and what he isn’t so keen on.
I now have a clear direction for where the designs need to go, focusing on clean lines, small designs and keeping it quite minimalistic. I have some designs that he would like me to edit, and some that are definitely going to be used for tee designs. I also now have more of a clear idea of what he is after, so I am going to whip up lots of little designs for him, that can be applied to his products.

INITIAL IDEAS // INITIAL SKETCHES
14.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Bouncing off the moodboard I have done, and thinking about how I can create some minimalistic looks, I have started some initial sketches to get the ideas flowing. Shown in the second image too are some ideas that I had bouncing off the type that I had done for the mood board, considering how the lines from the outlines can be continued on through the design.
I think it is a case of now picking some of the designs that I like, and digitalising them to think about how they can be applied onto T-Shirts. I will be sending the sketches over to Ewan too to get some feedback, to see what he thinks and if he has any favourites he would like to develop / likes the style of.

RESEARCH // GOOSE AND GANDER
14.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Goose and Gander is a relatively new brand that I have discovered, who create beautifully edgy and minimal products, that are unisex. I thought that this would be a great source of inspiration for THEO, because of how diverse but beautifully minimal it is. It also appeals to a similar target audience that THEO is aiming for.
G&G have recently also released a new T-Shirt design, shown in the central image above, which reminds me of a Jack Wills inspired design. I think that now having had a look over three different brands, that all have similar intentions, I can see how the designs as a base are all pretty much the same, but have their own edge to them.
NOTE.
I think that this is the important thing, having to determine what that edge is to the brand, that will make it stand out and push it away from the rest.

INSPO // MOOD BOARD
12.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
Thinking about other clothing brands that have a similar style to what THEO is aiming to work alongside, as well, as different ways to portray the brand, such as through geometric shapes and interesting letter forms.

RESEARCH // BLAKEY CLOTHING
12.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
In the past Ewan and I have spoken about Blakey Clothing being a source of inspiration for the type of brands THEO is aiming to work alongside. Blakey has its set logo, and then other supporting logo imagery that works alongside this, which features across a range of products. We did consider this at the start of when I began supporting Ewan with THEO, where we would have an image for a logo, and then a logotype to work alongside this.
I think the main thing to take away from Blakey is that variety is important, as it adds interest for the customer, and also means that the brand can keep up with changes in trends. I think however that Blakey clothing is a bit dark compared to some other brands that are out there, and from what THEO have previously designed it is a bit brighter and more playful but minimalist.

RESEARCH // PREVIOUS TEES
12.3.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
These are just some pictures that I have from Ewan, showing the logos that I did on the T-Shirt designs. These have the logos on that I have previously starred on the display image of all of the logos.
These were the ones that were taken to Boardmasters, to test out the popularity of them.

OVERVIEW // PAST LOGO DESIGNS
12.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
This is just a quick board I’ve done, showing the past logos I have done for Ewan, and the starred designs are the ones that got chosen to go on the tees. This gives you an idea of what Ewan was after last year, and they worked well at the time, but it is now all about moving forward and thinking of fresh ideas for the brand. I will be in discussion with Ewan about this, to see what he has in mind and how I can bring his ideas to life!

BRIEF EIGHT // THEO
12.4.2018
BRIEF EIGHT.
OVERVIEW.
Over the course of the three years at university, I have been working alongside a friend to help develop his clothing brand - THEO. Ewan is a young individual, who is balancing a job as well as launching THEO, with a team of people behind him helping him along the way.
Admittedly, when I first started designing for him, it was pretty shocking, but as the years have gone on my skills have improved alongside the designs. In the summer of 2017, Ewan then got three of my t-shirts printed to take and sell at Boadmasters festival, which was a huge success for him and his team.
Ewan has recently approached me again, to spark up some more designs, and to see where he can push THEO to next. I have discussed this with him, and I am going to use it as one of my briefs for this last module at uni. He was totally up for this, and said I could work it however way I like and that he just appreciates my support!
BRIEF SUMMARY.
To create a new minimalist logo that will work alongside the existing designs. The designs need to be able to appeal to both men and women, and be something that will work across a variety of products.
