Dedicated to the Hippies, Gyspys, and all who Wander; your are not Alone.
Observing the society from above Roma, Italy. There are things I think about that I’m not sure if there normal. I’m sitting in a mall in California observing my surroundings. Is this real? Do other people see what I see? The materialism; the objects, the clothes, the shoes, designer, people walking around with Gucci and Kashmir. Is this real? Has materialism conquered our entire way of life? What…

Donating my Eggs made my Dreams to Travel a Reality. What would you sacrifice?
Donating my Eggs made my Dreams to Travel a Reality. What would you sacrifice?
Tumblr media
I asked myself the first question, do I see myself ever bearing a child or wanting children of my own? It took me a few days to answer this, but the decision I had made was a no. I do not want to bear my own children. Some egg donors do want their own children and they are willing to help others create a family. I chose not to bear any children for many personal reasons. Having children wouldn’t…

Hiking Mount Esja!
When I arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland I was in awe! I had no idea what to expect and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had done very little research about my first backpacking trip throughout Scandinavia and Europe. I just picked the cheapest flight to Europe from Boston, Massachusetts. Fortunately, Iceland is only a four and half flight one way so I was in luck that day. The flight I purchased was through Icelandair for only $330.00USD.
I landed in Iceland around 6:30am on November 1st, 2016. The sky was dark and the clouds were bleek making the night sky even more daunting. When you land in Reykjavik International Airport you have a few options to get to Reykjavik itself. The airport is located about forty minutes east of the city center. They have shuttle buses called Flybus and Grey Line that will take you to where you need to go. The shuttle buses were a bit expensive heading into Reykjavik. It was 2,500 Icelandic Krona which equals to about $23.00USD. My best advice to give about getting around Iceland would be to rent a car. Renting a car is a lot cheaper in Iceland then most people think. Unfortunately for me, I am only 24 years old with a debit card to her name. They take credit cards only when you put down a thousand dollar deposit.
“First thing I learned becoming a professional traveler/backpacker, having access to funds is crucial.”
I boarded the shuttle bus and we started driving into the darkness. I couldn’t get over the emptiness. There was no people, no houses, and definitely no lights. But, beyond the black clouds I saw a shade of green. I just knew deep down that was the Aurora Borealis. It was twinkling behind the thick dark clouds trying to come out and play. But, the black clouds pushed back the shade of limelight and disappeared. I just knew right then and there I saw the Aurora Borealis. It was a great start to Iceland.

I stayed at Bus Hostel in Reykjavik which was only a twenty minute walk to the city center. It was a short fifteen minute walk to the Perlan which has an observation deck and cafe. The hostel was very comfortable and affordable. I enjoyed everyones company at the hostel. I met people all the way from New Zealand, a few people from Spain, a few people from Alberta, Canada, and I became great friends with Melanie from France! I stayed for eight nights totalling about $248.00 USD. I would highly recommend staying at this hostel if your a solo traveler looking to meet new people and make new friends. You would only need about three to four nights in the city center, then it be best to drive around the island.

If you do not rent a car like I did, then you can book tours and excursions through Grey Line or Reykjavik excursions. Some of the tours are quite expensive through the tour busses and renting a car is preferable. Even to find someone who has a car would be your best option as well, that is what a lot people had done at my hostel.
Reykjavik is an amazing city and Iceland is a breathtaking island. I had done the Golden Cirlce Tour through Reykjavik Excursions and it was roughly $96.00USD. We saw waterfalls, ice mountains, volcanos, Game of Thrones film sets, and the Eurasian plate. I would recommend this tour if you are not renting a car as it was eight hours plenty!

“Iceland is the island of all components; earth, wind, water, and fire.”
Its the perfect place to do all outdoor activities such as; hiking, cave roaming, glacier hikes, horseback riding, hot springs, and so much more. The Blue Lagoon is another hot spot for tourism. I paid $79.00USD for a day trip to the Blue Lagoon. The Lagoon is closest to the airport so you would need to book a tour with shuttle transportation. The ticket includes; a bathrobe, slippers, one drink at the swim up bar, two face masks, and a drink at the LAVA restaurant. Which I consumed some of the best lamb rack in the world.

If you never been to Iceland put it on your travelers list. The icelandic food was delicious if you enjoy fish and red meats. The people where very friendly and kind. It was definitely one of the safest places I traveled to. Iceland will always be one of my favorite travel spots.

Daunting Truths of the Lonely Traveler
Daunting Truths of the Lonely Traveler
Tumblr media
Tea and Me This morning I awoke on the couch with the television still on and tears swelling into my eyes. I haven’t felt this alone in my 24 years of life. I had a dream last night. It was about a trip to Central and South America. I was with two friends but, the two friends went to Ecuador. As for me, I was standing alone. I’ve been told dreams you have self-reflect current affairs in your…
