This night was one of the highlights of my life - I sang alto 1 in the chorus for Mahler Symphony 2 under the direction of the iconic conductor Gerard Schwarz (pictured here). It was a phenomenal and emotional night as it was the final performance of the 2015 Eastern Music Festival. As this weekend approaches, I have been thinking a lot about this night because I, once again, am privileged to sing alto 1 in this symphony, this time at Orchestra Hall with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Leonard Slatkin!

Today, I read a great article about what to do if you're particularly stressed or down and lacking motivation. My favorite part was the suggestion to write a "Done" list - like a to-do list, but of things you've completed. It can even be the easiest things- like "took a shower" or "got myself to class" (though these are arguably very difficult to do at times of extreme stress). I found it very helpful, and it reminded me that as much as I have to do.... I am doing everything I can right now and I am making progress.

Here's another shot from Eastern Music Festival 2015. I often think of all the wonderful words of wisdom I leaned from the legendary Andre Watts (pictured here). The pianists at the festival had the opportunity to have a question and answer session with Mr. Watts before seeing him perform Brahms' second piano concerto with the EMF Faculty Orchestra. Months later, I still draw a lot of inspiration from his stories and advice about performance anxiety and life in general. He was one of the most genuine and kind people I've ever met.
