Maybe what I’m getting at is that I think people have sort of passively adopted the idea that you must get consent from someone in order to be attracted to them, and if you experience attraction without consent, you are behaving badly and doing something wrong.

Attraction isn’t something you can switch on or off and it isn’t a set of behaviors or actions, it’s just an internal fact of the brain. You can be attracted to someone without making it their problem or making them aware of it at all. You don’t have to stare or comment or ask for their number or follow them home or assault them—those are actions you can refrain from, but attraction itself is just… there.

People getting annoyed with me because "well, ACTUALLY, most people who are Deaf aren't born totally deaf and totally unable to recover any hearing via hearing aids" make me want to throw things. I am allowed to write characters who reflect my lived experiences. I don't care if it's not a common enough experience for other people.

What are dead man walking tornadoes? :O

it’s a multi-vortex tornado. i dont remember the tribe it originates from (i think it was cherokee), but there’s a native american legend…? saying? that goes “if you see a man in a tornado, you are about to die.”

it did so much damage to the town it caused the scale that tornados are measured by, the fijita scale, undergo revisions, and it made anchoring buildings in the tornado alley region pretty much mandatory. (it took the entire town off the map. only those who had taken shelter outside of the town or in underground bunkers survived.)
