i’d like to think gun took comfort in the fact that goo was his “equal”. in goo, he hit two birds with one stone: he can fight him (and therefore be “loved”, presumably by the people he works for and with, like charles choi) while also having someone who was there for him, someone that would stick around for a while.

so when he managed to take goo down a few chapters ago, i imagine that sense of comfort shattered. and with charles choi jumping off the roof, everything just exploded in his face. with nothing else to really hang onto, he accepted the consequences with grace.

i’d also like to be delusional for a sec and think that maybe this is also the reason he pushes daniel away. he knows daniel is strong. he’s gun’s masterpiece, for god’s sake. but gun knows that right now, daniel’s not stronger than him. even if he does become his equal, gun is worried that his insatiable quest for strength will eventually win out and ruin daniel too. gun’s really good at ruining the things he loves, and the best thing he can really do at this moment is to leave.

i joke about gun being a hardcore masochist, but the only way for him to really feel safe in any relationship, is if they were stronger than him. maybe he’ll only ever feel at complete peace in the last few moments of his life, looking up at the person who managed to quell the raging beast in him, with death and complete utter defeat.
