â that one is pasta. you can choose the type, the sauce, the protein. all of that stuff, â chesa answered. she was a pasta fan so while it was her favorite, it might not have appealed to everyone else. â there are a lot of others, though depending on the type of cuisine you like. you should certainly take some time and walk around. â
"Oh my god, thatâs amazing,â Emma sang. âPasta is  everything.â The girl was definitely hungry, but she had a thing about eating alone. It felt like eyes were on her much more than if she did it in company. âWill you be having some too?â Â

Once at the bar, Oliverâs hand moved to rest on the small of her back, and he stood a few centimetres behind her, as if to shield her from the crowd, from anyone who might bump into her. âLetâs get you a water to start, and then a drink if you still feel like it after that, how about that?â He held up two fingers to the bartender, calling water over the noise, and then slid one bottle to Emma once it arrived. âRe-hydrate, love,â he smiled. âThen you can have whatever you like.â
Emma certainly noticed his hand on her back, and she definitely didnât mind it; in fact, welcomed it in a place this packed. âYou know what? Thatâs a terrific idea. I hadnât thought of that,â she stated matter-of-factly. If she had been more of a party girl, sheâd know the wise adage of having water between your drinks, but this was a rare day for Emma. âThanks,â she said gratefully, accepting the bottle and unscrewing its cap. After sheâd had a few sips she realised were much needed, the brunette looked up at Oliver. âSo, uh, have you had a good week this week?â she called over the din of music, attempting to make some conversation.Â

She nodded, listening. âHonestly, I think you should treat yourself. We have such good escorts, youâll feel like you got your moneyâs worth.â When she mentioned conflict of interest, she smirked. âI donât think there will be if youâre a maid. If you were a security guard, I could see where you were coming from though.â
"But...â It was hard to explain to her, because Emma hadnât explained it to anybody at Votive really; the reason she worked so hard to send money back home to her father. âI donât know. I just canât do it. Maybe on a weekend Iâm feeling particularly brave or thereâs a 50% off offer or something,â she joked, shrugging. Even though it was what she wanted, because a regular date? That sounded terrifying. But a guy from Votive who would know all her wants and needs and how to treat her...it sounded almost too good to be true. âWhy a security guard?â she asked, curious.

itâs a setting fitting for her, and he wonders why she chose to clean up other peoples messes instead of making her own,  the good kind that is.  then again he isnât one to question anothers life choices, there could be any number of reasons as to why sheâs a maid and not a dancer or escort despite both professions suiting the beautiful way she moves. she spins, faster than he expects and she bumps him, his arms coming to rest at her sides to steady her. tobias smiles,  âyouâre good.â the crimson that spreads upon her cheek is adorable,  coupled with the fair complexion, it reminds him a lot of himself and maybe thatâs why he loves it so muchâ shows that heâs not the only one with a bright blush.  he leans in, dragging her closer, certainly closing the gap between them,  âI want to take you to my room,â he wonât have his way with her while sheâs drunk, heâs about consent, but he wants to make sure sheâs okay, especially with the tipsy way sheâs moving.
She leans into him and itâs a good feeling. She feels safe while Tobias is there â not that she had felt unsafe before, but thereâs a particular comfort being around him; that were she to trip or fall, or stumble sideways a bit like she had just now, he would be there to catch her. âOh?â the question catches her by surprise, but Emma goes along with it. Theyâd had dinner and spent some time getting to know one another, and she was more perhaps now than just the girl who cleaned his room. âYes. Alright,â she agrees, louder now over the music. âBut you must lead the way, or we might get hopelessly lost.â

âso, did you take care of him?â morgan asked, listening as the woman told the story but never bothering to look up from her phone. âi mean people have sex with the staff around here too, right?â she questioned, finally placing her phone down. she noticed the slight tint of her cheeks and laughed softly. âthank you, gorgeous. hereâŠâ morgan got up from the bed and finished around in her bag for a crisp one hundred dollar bill, handing it over to the blonde. âjust a little weekend money for you. i appreciate you being such a doll.â
"What? Me? Oh goodness no,â Emma said with a shake of her head, almost like she was offended at the suggestion, but of course she was too polite to truly feel anything but shock. âThey...do, yeah,â the blonde said with some hesitation, âbut as far as I know, itâs always off duty. I donât know about the others, but us maids are strictly forbidden to do anything, even if we get propositioned. I suppose it makes sense, otherwise everyone would be fucking instead of cleaning,â she said, somewhat nonchalantly.Â
It wasnât often she got a hundred dollar tip, and Emma was left flabbergasted every time. âThank you. Thanks so much,â she said with a big nod, ever so grateful for the woman. âIf thereâs ever anything you need, just about anything at all, ask for âEmma the maidâ when you call reception and Iâll be here.â

âCraziest thing thatâs happened to me these past few weeks is that I slept with my ex-boyfriend and ended up humiliating myself in front of this guy I thought liked me the way I liked him. All of a sudden, Iâm back in high school making rookie life mistakes.â Cassidy said with a shake of her head, dusting her hands off. She then looked at Emma with wide eyes.Â
âNo way? What made you decide not to push through with it? Not that you donât look extra cute in that uniform, and not that you arenât doing a fantastic job with what youâre doing now.â Cassidy said with a tilt of her head.Â
"Oh noooo. Iâm so sorry,â Emma said, because she could truly commiserate. âI have an ex I still kind of have feelings for, so I totally get that.â He was back in New Jersey though and probably didnât even remember she existed, so there was that.
âI donât know...I thought it would be a very different job, just dressing up cute and looking nice for your client, and acting all sweet, and it was a lot more than that...I mean, yes, I knew there would be sex involved, obviously Iâm not stupid, but when I got here the friend who originally invited me, she just decided to leave. So she told me all these horror stories, left, and I got too scared to do it and took up a maidâs vacancy. And well here I am, half a year later still. I wonât lie i still think I could do it sometimes, because I know Iâd be earning twice or three times the amount of money I do now but eh, Iâm still a chickenshit.â

She was gone longer than he expected, a part of him thinking that she wasnât coming back â but itâs a nice quiet night, and he doesnât mind sitting here by the water for a little longer, even if he ended up on his own. When he heard her voice, he turned to smile at her. âThatâs alright, love,â he shrugged. âThese things happen.â He playfully kicked some water towards her. âNice to meet you, Emma. Iâm Noah.â
"Noah,â she said with a nod, feeling a bit awkward somehow, like she was meant to be doing something despite the fact her shift ended and she was free to roam the hotel as she pleased. âSo, is it your first time at Votive Noah, or are you a returning guest?â Wow, what a dumb question to ask, she thought to herself. But it was too late now.

âOh believe me, Iâm a bad boy. But Iâll be good for you.â He winked at her, smiling big. âYou know, I like you a lot. We should definitely do a pizza and movie night. Are you busy tonight by chance? Thereâs this pizza place by my apartment that delivers. Itâs mine and my sisterâs favorite.â
"Oh yeah? Done a lot of bad things?â she said, a full grin on her face. Now she was just pushing it maybe, partially scared sheâd find out something about the guy that would make her reconsider their friendship. Maybe. But no, Emma thought, Jameson was one of the good guys. âNo, Iâm free this evening. That sounds great. What kind of movie did you have in mind? Iâm game for anything, just maybe not some crazy horror, that always gets me.â

âI keep bumping into other workers around here all the time, and itâs so surprising when they arenât new and I just havenât had a chance to meet them. âI love meeting people though, itâs always so great to get to know people.â He smiled, tucking his thumbs into his pockets as he spoke. âSo, do you enjoy working here?â
"Itâs a big place, Iâll give it that,â Emma said, nodding. Entire months sheâd gone without running into or seeing the key people who ran this business, but such was part of life at Votive, the partial mystery of it all. âYeah, I do! The pay is good, and I live here as well, which, you know, cuts down on rent considerably. I honestly donât know what I wouldâve done if all my rent had gone to living in some tiny cupboard in this city. âAnd you?âÂ

He smiled. âYeah, you are. Very dangerous.â He winked. âYouâll learn. Most of my friends and sexual partners, at least the dominant ones, just like punishing me.â He laughed. âBut youâre sweet. You remind me of sunshine, if thats not too cheesy to say.â
That made Emma laugh again. âWell I donât know what I could ever do to punish you, but I promise not to stroke your ego too much.â She shook her head. âI remind you of sunshine? Really? Thatâs actually the nicest thing anyoneâs ever said.âÂ

Oliver smiled faintly and held his hand out for her, nodding in the direction of the bar. âJob or not, you still deserve a drink, and I definitely do insist,â he replied. Once she had agreed, he led her off the dance floor, away from the speakers. Leading her to the front of the line, he gestured at the bartender ( one of the perks of being a long time escort at Votive was the somewhat special treatment ). âWhat can I get you â sorry, I just realised I donât actually know your name, fuck, thatâs awful of me.â
She took Oliverâs hand and followed him, finding this all somehow very exciting. She did mingle with some of the staff at Votive after hours, but to be at parties with them? It was rare. âThatâs alright. Iâm Emma. And Iâll just have whatever youâre having,â she said with a shrug. In her somewhat inebriated state she was having a hard time recalling drink names anyway.

She smiled. âOh shit, youâre right. Well, good on you.â She bit her lip. âWhat are you curious about though? You have to be at least a little bit, right?â
To confess or not to confess, that was the question. âIâve actually uh...well Iâve contemplated buying myself a guest pass for one evening and, yâknow...an escort.â She went bright red from saying just that. âBut then I remember the price and I just canât justify spending that much money on myself, besides I donât know if it creates some sort of conflict of interest with me being staff here...â

Noah watched the woman as she considered his invitation, grinning triumphantly when she acquiesced. âThatâs fine with me, besides, if I were to accidentally push you in, Iâm sure youâd much rather be out of uniform,â he joked, then put his hands up. âI promise, Iâll try not to push you in.â Though, he definitely wasnât opposed to seeing her wet.
[ten minutes later timeskip wooeooo]
She was almost surprised to find him still there, but Emma returned now, in a much more sensible outfit of a striped shirt and a yellow skirt. âSo sorry, my locker jammed and I couldnât get it open somehow. That thing has a life of its own.â She took a seat right beside him, by the edge of the pool, tucking her feet under her. âIâm Emma, by the way.â

she was pretty, sexy even. and nice, but then she was probably trained to be. patting his pocket, he nodded his gratitude. this week couldnât have been more shit if heâd asked it to be. stress knotted his muscles and he arched his back to stretch them out. his eyes were drawn back to her at her words. he wanted to say what she could do for him, but it was a dirtbag thing to proposition a maid. she probably got her fair share of unwanted advances without him adding to her day. smiling, he rubbed the other words away from his lips. âthank you. youâre really sweet.âÂ
"Well if thatâs everything, Iâll get going now,â Emma said with a smile and a nod, backing up. Sheâd done all she could in this room, beyond the few things scattered here and there, but those were his personal belongings and she figured he would like them just where they were. âI hope you have a nice day, Sir.âÂ
