I think when it comes to the clothes of the strawhats... I think the costume department will only stick to clothes that is included in the chapters/arcs that the Season will cover. Like for Season 1, they only used the clothes on chapter covers and manga colorspeads within chapters 1-69. They also only used the Colowalk Volume 1. So I think they’ll do the same for the other seasons. For Season 2, these arcs cover Chapters 70-130 so they might only use the clothes within these chapters, and will probably use Colorwalk Volumes 1-2. It’s kind of sad because there are some clothes in other chapters and colorwalks that I absolutely love that we might not see in live action.

I recently found out, based on other people’s observations, that the red shirt outfit that Taz wears in that nerf gun battle clip is gonna be for the Reverse Mountain episode, since people saw the name Crocus attached on one of the shipping containers in that clip. I was really hoping that he wears the outfit from the Chapter 100 colorspread for Reverse Mountain but oh well 😔 hope we see it at some point.

For Season 3/Alabasta arc, I realized that most of the time they’ll only be using the outfits seen in Chapter 165. I am curious if Sanji will still wear his iconic suit when he goes Mr Prince. But the yellow glasses need to stay. (I really would like them to extend the Mr Prince scenes, kind of like James Bondesque tone and vibe) Ngl I really want to see them wear the clothes in Chapter 201, but I don’t know where or what context they would have to wear those, especially Sanji’s outfit lol

i hadn’t thought about it but it does make sense for the outfits to be taken from the chapters that the season is adapting.

i actually really like sanji’s outfit in that video being what he wears during reverse mountain (and i honestly put too much thought into the reason why). it’s a pretty casual outfit compared to what you’d usually expect of sanji, which is his suits and ties, just plain cotton t-shirts and comfy trousers which makes sense considering the events of reverse mountain aren’t something the crew planned on, it all just sort of happened whilst they were sailing and so i like him being in a more casual outfit for it. he’s not dressed nicely to go explore a new island he’s wearing what he wears just during the days at sea when nothing’s really happening. whiskey peak on the other hand in my head he’s be in his usual suit (idk it makes sense in my head i’m not sure i explained it very well).

i really hope he wears what he had on in the tudum teaser video at some point because that’s a waste if not. imagine the phone call to crocodile with him wearing that i think i’d die.

i do think he’ll be wearing the suit for mr prince cause in season 1 during all of the most important and iconic moments their outfits were 1:1 to the scenes in the anime and manga and i doubt that’ll change going forward.

and yeah i do think they’d struggle to find a context for the 201 outfits, sanji’s is a bit nuts 😭

My favorite part of this episode was Zoro's fight with Sham and Buchi. The choreography is incredible and the actors utilization of the space was amazing. When Sham takes the Wado Ichimonji and throws it into the armoire I audibly gasped! 😮

And I love how when Zoro gets the sword back he just silently and methodically sheaths it! Really sent a message: "You're not even worth dying by this sword". AHHH!!!! SO BADASS!!! 🤩

opla s1 rewatch notes now that i've read the manga: 1x04

I promised a rant, right? The other problem with this adaptation in terms of the story is that so far it's been the story of the Romance Dawn trio. And if with Sanji things are more or less okay, Usopp feels like a secondary character in his own introductory arc, which is especially noticeable in the absence of the little kids who were his "crew". I'm not saying he should've been some great warrior from the very beginning - that would be inaccurate - but could they at least had given him more opportunity to shoot at things? Because Luffy remarks he's a great shot, but we barely see that? Besides, like I've said before, I like the addition of Nami and Kaya becoming close, but I feel like the emphasis on their friendship gets prioritized by the narrative over Kaya's (older, stronger) friendship with Usopp. All in all, they should've given him more time to shine. Again, this is supposed to be his arc!

On the bright side, I like the decision to change a rather ordinary battle outside into a sort of a slasher horror movie in a closed space. It was really chilling at times and made Kuro look all the more terrifying.

I find it kind of endearing that Sham and Buchi got so used to playing the part of servants that now they can't help but care about the cleanliness of the house and the quality of cooking. I also support the decision to turn a creepy evil catboy into a cute evil catgirl

Been racking my brain for some time but I can't remember if there were any girls apart from Kuina at Zoro's dojo in the manga. In the live action, there are other girls, which makes me wonder if their teacher shat into their heads with his misogyny too or it was reserved for his own daughter only. (For my show-only folks: yeah, the live action doesn't point it out, but the teacher at the dojo is Kuina's father and he's the one who told her she won't succeed as a swordswoman because of the "woman" part. Also, they and Zoro are related).

They really need to give their extras more wigs in crazy colours, because, for instance, Zoro stands out so much compared to other kids at the dojo, they might've as well hanged a "Protagonist" sign on his neck.

When Luffy and Usopp keep talking over each other about which one of them is the captain and Nami starts laughing first and then everyone else is laughing too... Luffy's right, that is what it is about. ❤

no one asked but what i love about opla chopper is how they made him look genuinely but realistically cute. the details of his facial expressions and his body gestures is almost perfect like the animated one. the lil detail of his velvety antlers of an actual reindeer and his furriness are nicely done and actually adds more adorableness to it. i really love it so much that they kept it like that omg what more could you ever ask for? opla chopper is perfect already like you can actually feel how soft and silly he will be in the live action. i literally can't wait for next year for our lil silly doctor no cap

i know a lot of people didn’t really like opla zoro’s characterization but it honestly reminded me a lot of the filler episode where he met jonny and yosaku (im upset that didn’t make it into the live action 😭) as well as the filler where the seahorse stole their memories to become a millennial dragon (i know a lot of people skip filler tho 🖐🏽😞)

spoilers for pretime skip if you haven’t watched it yet !

but in a grander scheme of things i think it would honestly be so amazing and heartbreaking at the same time if we watched zoro learn to open up towards the crew over the course of logue town - sabaody only to see him come back more closed off after the events of thriller bark - marine ford (i kinda see chopper as being that character that really allows us to see a softer side of zoro i mean he’s the main character we genuinely get to see his big brother/care giver energy with)

it would also be similar to robin started off closed off when she first joined the crew post alabasta and we see her start to open up because of the events of enies lobby (OH i think it would also be a good contrast between robin and zoro as well because we’d see how easily he has become open with the crew members he’s already been with while still have this “i need to protect them from her” i think it may come off stronger in the live action im also referring to skypeia here, i also wonder if they’ll have nami be slower to trust robin as well) idk im just existed to see what changes they may or may not make to how the characters interact im personally not watching the live action or even the anime to be a perfect one for one adaptation of the manga i think that’d be a bit boring for me personally 🤸🏽‍♀️

i can definitely see them taking that kind of approach of the live action gets that far and i think it’d make a lot of since from a character perspective
