My name is Emma Lucibello. My enthnicity is white. I just recently turned 19 years old and I am orginally from North Carolina. I moved to sarasota two years ago and I love it here so far! I love to go to the beach, paint, workout, take pictures, and spend time with my friends and family. I also can't wait to travel. I work at the Ritz Carlton Resort as a beach attendant. I was born with only one arm, but that doesn't stop me from doing anything I want to do!

I have a tapestry hanging up in my room of "The Great Wave off Kanagawa". The artwork is a woodblock print created by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in the early 19th century, during the Edo period. Woodblock printing involved carving the image onto a wooden block, applying ink to the block, and then transferring the inked image onto paper. Hokusai used traditional Japanese materials such as washi paper, woodblocks, and sumi ink. The use of "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" was primarily for artistic and commercial purposes. During the Edo period, Japan experienced a significant growth in the publishing industry, and ukiyo-e prints like this one were highly popular among the general public. Ukiyo-e translates to "pictures of the floating world" and often depicted scenes from everyday life, landscapes, and myths. These prints were affordable and accessible to a wide audience, allowing people to appreciate and collect art. I think this artwork is beautiful, I love the detail, the bold lines and strong contrasts. I love the ocean as well, so that is why I bought the tapestry.

Hi everyone, I'm Emma and a fun fact about me is I was born with one arm.
I was assigned the Starry night painting by  Vincent van Gog.
1.The Starry Night was painted at The Saint Paul de Mausole asylum in France.
2.Van Gogh painted The Starry Night from memory in his studio.
3.The Starry Night is part of The Nocturne, a three painting set.
4.Van Gogh felt the painting was a failure.
5. When Van Gogh first began painting, he used peasants and farmers as models.
When I first looked at the painting I thought it was just a bunch of blue and yellow swirls in the sky. When I looked at it more throughly I really saw the scenery he was trying to create with the dark city and the bright captivating sky. I learned that the swirling, tumultuous sky reflects the artist's emotional turbulence and inner struggles. The vibrant, pulsating stars convey a sense of cosmic harmony and a longing for connection beyond earthly confines. It made me apprieciate the art more.
