Guys is it weird that I found Azriels shadows being ready to strike Nesta for Elain... hot? We all know he respects and cares for all the 3 Archeron sisters but the fact he literally chose Elain. No hesitation. No confusion. Just soul deep loyalty. That moment? That wasn’t just protection.That was priority. That was instinct. That was devotion.

When I came across the reference photo for this piece on Pinterest, the first thing I thought was ELRIEL. Some poses and moments just scream *them,* and this is definitely one of them: there’s just something about the thought of these two hidden away together, soaking in a cozy and quiet moment together.

Reason number 94833575827 why Elriel and Nessian were always meant to be, and that once SJM started to write ACOMAF both couples were set in stone. Yes, that means no Moriel, no Mossian, and Nescien and no Elucien.

How do we know? Simple. The first Archeron sisters and bat boys meeting.

Because...why were the bat boys even there?

if not to meet their future mates?

Let's break it down, shall we?

When Rhys first brought Feyre to the Moon Palace, when she was still nearly human and pretty terrified, who did he invite over?

Mor.

Bubbly. FEMALE. Kind. Friendly. Non-threatening.

Wouldn't it have made much more sense to bring Mor to the meeting with the sisters? She is still Rhysand's third, she is a female, she is a warrior, she winnows, and she has all kinds of magical magic.

Instead, Rhysand (SJM) goes for total overkill. Why in the world did he need to bring not one, but two enormous warriors with him? What was the point of them at that meeting? None. They are huge, intimidating, maybe even terrifying, and not exactly known for their letter writing abilities. Rhys didn't need THAT much protection, even from any rogue elements from Prythian. He managed to handle the Attor quite well himself.

So, he drags these two huge Illyrian warriors to the human lands, to meet two human girls. Why? All they did was eat some dry human chicken, bickered, and left.

If Mor was there, wouldn't she have made everyone much more relaxed? She would've joked and laughed and teased. She was already friends with Feyre, so the sisters would've felt much more comfortable with her rather than two Illyrian-leather clad warriors.

But Mor wasn't there. The bat boys came instead. To meet their girls. To meet their future mates. And the dynamic for both couples was set right from that meeting. Nesta' and Cassian, both abrasive and bickering, two warriors egging each other on, their attraction raw and sexual. And Elain and Azriel, calm and quiet, seeking comfort in each other, polite, well-mannered, their attraction already wrought with complexities, but also undeniable.

Nine years later, people are still arguing about this. Yet everything was clearly set up during that first fateful meeting.

I’m so tired of hearing people hate on Elain after all these years because she “didn’t grow vegetables.” Do you guys ever think that maybe Elain learned to cook and now makes dinner for her whole extended family and friends because she feels guilty about it? Even though Feyre and co tell her it isn’t necessary and they can all *magic* food into existence. Is it so hard to believe that maybe she isn’t perfect but she’s trying to be better? Y’all will find any excuse to hate her when all she’s ever been is kind.

Whenever Elain said in SF that her favorite dance was the waltz, I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea of her and Azriel sharing one! I think it’s such a sweet idea, the closeness and intimacy to each other would be so romantic and swoon-worthy! I couldn’t be more in love with this art from @azeher_may who created such a beautiful and romantic piece, and did such a beautiful job bringing my ideas to life!

The gray light of morning had broken over the world, mist clinging to our ankles as we headed into that camp, Azriel still cradling Elain to his chest. He dripped blood behind him the entire time—a trickle compared to the torrent that should be leaking out. Contained only by the patches of power he’d slapped on it. Help—he needed a healer immediately.

Rhys lunged for Azriel, taking Elain from him and gently setting my sister down. Azriel rasped, swaying on his feet, “We need Helion to get these chains off her.” Yet Elain didn’t seem to notice them as she rose up on her toes and kissed the shadowsinger’s cheek.

that’s exactly what i see happening

Maybe this is somewhat controversial, but I would not mind, and in fact would love to see Elain try to work it out with Lucien. I don't want anything sexual happening between them, however, I would like to see actually not just HAVE a choice, but also MAKE a choice.

I feel like it would make for a much more interesting and dramatic turn, if Elain, maybe because she is pissed off, or simply disappointed with everything and everyone, decided to try it with Lucien. If everyone is talking about the joys and glory of the mate bond, perhaps she is missing something? some vital part that she doesn't understand? And whether she goes to the human lands or stays in Prythian, but I would love to see more TENSION.

I need Azriel's jealousy and his realization that he might have just lost the one thing that mattered the most. That he did an unforgivable thing by telling her that she made a mistake and I want him to watch her and her pain and know how deeply she was wounded, all because of how strongly she felt about him.

And I'd like to see Lucien! come to a realization that he relates to Elain much better as a friend, as a power-mate, than a romantic partner. I'd like to watch a man be stuck in the same position as the woman--Lucien feeling the same pull towards Vassa, as Elain feels towards Azriel. And yet both of them are bound by this thing that they don't want.

I just really want stakes! Real stakes. Struggle within all these parties involved in this strange circle.

I think that when Elain ultimately makes a choice, it would be in conjunction with Lucien's. Essentially, I'd like to see something that is the opposite of Feysand vs Tamlin. Something more mature and emotional.

I don't know if SJM has it in her, but in life, things are rarely black and white, with one party being in the right and the other, totally in the wrong. I hope she will learn to understand nuance and would channel it into the next book.

Azriel's shadows react to his emotions so imagine when he starts thinking about proposing to Elain, one of them betrays him before he's ready, it curls around her ring finger like a smoky band. Azriel freezes completely panicked, because this wasn't how he planned to do it, not yet, and definitely not through a sneaky shadow. But Elain just stares at her hand with wide eyes, then looks up at him with a smile and says "Was that meant to be a question?"
