colby reached out his finger and let kaia wrap her tiny baby hand around it. his smile was soft, eyes teary as she stared down at the bundle of joy that he and emma made. even if they hadn't been planning for kaia just yet, colby couldn't think of a more amazing time for her to join this world. like she was meant to come during this time. he already had so many ideas in his head of what they can do together as she gets older.

"want me to hold her while she sleeps?" the drummer asked, realizing her reluctance to put kaia down just yet. a few hours of holding her wouldn't hurt, right? especially if it was just for this once while emma had more time to sit with her.
