✨ Back with another #MeetAMemberMonday! This week’s member is Arianna Edobor (@champagne_arie), a senior studying NBB and Philosophy in the College! She stands with @plannedparenthood because, “Women’s right and reproductive rights are basic human rights and their bodies are not political arenas. All women are capable to make decisions about their healthcare and should have the proper access to make informed choices.” 🤩🤩 we 100% support that statement and hope to be useful in educating and raising awareness on campus! #istandwithpp https://www.instagram.com/p/BrN-OEznXby/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rhnw3ghohka1

Does Plan B stop working if you take it more than once?
Someone asked us:
Does plan B loose it’s effectivenes if you have taken it over time more than once? I mean not consistently, but if I’ve taken it 4 times ovr the span of 4 years.
Nope! The number of times you take Plan B, or any other brand of emergency contraception (aka the morning-after pill), won’t affect how well it prevents pregnancy. The morning-after pill works just as well the first time you take it as it will the 4th or even 40th time. The most important thing is just making sure you take Plan B as soon as possible after unprotected sex, ideally within the first 3 days. That’s because the sooner you take it, the better it works.
It’s totally safe to take the morning-after pill more than once, whenever you need to. But there’s a reason it’s known as “emergency contraception.” The morning-after pill isn’t as good at preventing pregnancy as other non-emergency types of birth control (like the IUD, implant, shot, ring, patch, or pill). It can also be more expensive than other types of birth control. So if you find yourself having to rely on it often, talk with your nurse or doctor (like the ones at your local Planned Parenthood) about more convenient and effective ways to prevent pregnancy.

Feminist documentaries you need to see right now:
1. RBG: A documentary about the magnificent supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, her life and impact on women’s rights in America. (She basically carried us on her backs for decades without any sort of acknowledgement, so we at least owe it to her to watch her documentary) You can find it on HULU.
2. She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry: A documentary about some of the most iconic women in the feminist movement from the 60’s-80’s. Very personable and emotional. You can find it on NETFLIX.
3. Seeing Allred: A documentary about Gloria Allred, a powerful attorney known for representing victims in high-profile sexual assault cases (like Bill Cosby’s case) as well as gender discrimination cases. She’s been called insane by anti-feminists for decades, but they’re also scared of her. Very cool. You can watch it on NETFLIX.
4. 12th & Delaware: A documentary following an abortion clinic and crisis pregnancy center located on the same corner in Florida. Honestly, this had me on the edge of my seat. It’s very gut-wrenching to see how far the anti-abortion protestors go to stop women seeking care, and how far the abortion clinic will go to help those women. One of my favorite movies. You can find it on HBO, HBONOW.
5. Reversing Roe: A documentary on the dwindling abortion and reproductive rights in the United States. Fair warning: it’ll give you [more] nightmares about our current political state. You can check it out on NETFLIX.

The morning-after pill isn't just for the morning after!
Emergency contraception (AKA the morning-after pill) can be used up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex.

Our Movement, Our Moment

During last week’s election, our movement saw historic wins across the country with more people of color and women winning elections. This next Congress will be a decade younger and more diverse than ever before, in addition to having a pro-choice majority. Reproductive health champions up and down the ballot were elected to critical offices in all four of our states. This is good news for our patients and for protecting access to health care.
Despite these successes, many fights still linger on the horizon. Medical providers are being “gagged” and told what they can and cannot say to their patients about reproductive care. The Trump administration’s “public charge rule” and efforts to narrowly define gender are preventing immigrants and transgender people from seeking health services. And less than 24 hours after the election, the Trump administration issued new regulations that will allow employers to deny women coverage for birth control.
We now have another line of defense against attacks on our rights, but we have more fights ahead. We will never stop advocating for more affordable and accessible health care and reproductive justice. Our movement brought together a broad coalition of people fed up with having to defend their most basic freedoms, and we plan on building on that progress in the months and years to come. Join us by signing up here.

Are there any Planned Parenthood health centers near me that offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT)?

A few people asked us:
Hello! I was wondering if you have an updated list of your locations that offer HRT? Thank you!
Does planned parenthood offer hormone replacement therapy in the state of Florida ? If so, which cities?
are there any PPs in oregon that offer hormone replacement therapy?
We got y’all. You can find a list of the Planned Parenthood health centers that offer trans health care services, which may include hormone replacement therapy (aka HRT), at the bottom of this page.
Planned Parenthood’s health care services vary depending on the location, and sometimes the services offered can change. So if you don’t see your local health center on that list, call the health center to double check if it’s offered.
If your local Planned Parenthood health center doesn’t offer HRT, call them to see if they can recommend a trans-friendly doctor in your area who does. You can also tell them that you want this service and what it would mean for you. Our health centers do their best to meet the needs of people in the community and they value your opinion.
(Hormone replacement therapy can also refer to a type of treatment for the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. If you’re looking for hormone therapy for menopause, contact your local Planned Parenthood health center to see if they offer this service.)
