Charly. 20. Northern Ireland. (They/Them pronouns preferably.) This is a killer, crime and history blog. I post a lot about Columbine, Ted Bundy, and events from the Northern Irish troubles. I sometimes post some unrelated stuff here too, so don't expect it to be too consistent. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! If you want my personal blog send me a message.

Sad to think that two boys who have been dead for 16 years used to cut up, make videos and act like the silly teenagers they were.

Colin Howell Colin Howell, a dentist from Portadown (N.Ireland), was a deeply religious father of ten who, in 1991, killed his wife Lesley and the husband of his lover (Hazel Stewart), Trevor Buchanan, in what appeared to be a suicide pact between two lovers. After the discovery of his affair with Hazel, both Lesley and Trevor became deeply troubled, his own wife Lesley making a suicide attempt. Howell convinced Hazel that it would be more humane to kill their partners rather than let them suffer. Hazel agreed. Howell suffocated both victims in their own homes, and then arranged their bodies in a fume-filled car in Castlerock, where they were discovered on the 19th of May 1991. Hazel was present when Howell murdered her husband, and helped to facilitate this by encouraging Trevor to take a sleeping pill and then allowing Howell access to the house. Howell pleaded guilty to the murder on 18th November 2010, 19 years later, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. It is thought this confession was brought on by the death of his son, which he viewed as a punishment from God. His former lover Hazel claimed in court that she acted under duress, but was found guilty of the murders in March 2011 and sentenced to life imprisonment. On 17 May 2011 Howell pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting nine women patients in his surgery over a period of several years.
ITV has recently aired a tv dramatisation. It’s called ‘The Secret’, stars James Nesbitt as Colin Howell, and you can watch it on ITV player and elsewhere online.

It turned me into a momma bear. I get angry. It’s hard to even imagine how I could feel any kind of defensiveness or anger in light of what he did. But to me, of course, Dylan was not a monster. He did something that was monstrous, but I was looking holistically at the human being who was a treasure to me and one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Karla Homolka’s Spring Prom, 1988. Paul was her date. These photos were taken only 2 years before the drugging, raping and murdering of Homolka’s younger sister, Tammy Lynn.

i haven’t really seen this before and it really puts in perspective of where they were in their last moments. they didn’t separate themselves from everyone else. they were able to see their victims and the trail they left behind. kind of thought provoking, really.

Your blog is awesome! Do you ever think northern ireland will ever be at peace and no dissidents etc?
I think it'll happen someday. :) Technically we are 'at peace' but in reality there are still a lot of issues that need to be addressed. I don't think we'll ever really move on until our politicians and political system move away from sectarian tactics. But things are a lot better these days and I do see a lot of hope for the next 20 years or so, the younger generation are definitely a lot more accepting because they can distance themselves from the violence that came before, but that's not to say that there aren't also a lot of young people who are bigoted too. I do doubt whether the sectarianism will ever completely disappear, though. Not in my lifetime.

Yeah, I agree. Still funny though. Survival of the fittest doesn't normally count if you're using a shotgun. Haha.
