Chapter 4 of ACOTAR -
Feyre to Papa Archeron - "Ask....ask Isaac to show you how to make snares."
Wait, so he could do things???? He could have been helping make snares this whole time????
Well, color me completely NOT surprised. But sure, let's continue to blame Nesta for Feyre going out hunting.

"Nesta's so cruel to us," say the cruelest people in this entire series.
"Nesta's an Illyrian at heart," say the ones metaphorically clipping her wings and trying to control her.
"Nesta would thrive in the Court of Nightmares," say the ones abusing her.
"Nesta has rage issues," say the ones who can't control their tempers.
"Nesta may spite us," say the ones who condoned Feyre destroying an entire court out of spite.
"Nesta makes everyone's trauma about herself," say those who make Nesta's trauma all about them.
"Nesta needs to be physically restrained," say those who are constantly threatening her with physical violence.
"Nesta may hurt Feyre in a fit of rage," say those who watched Feyre burn the LoA in a fit of rage.
"Nesta needs to be punished for telling the truth," say those who withheld vital information.
"Nesta's a slut," say those who spent their entire twenties sleeping with any female who showed interest, oftentimes in the same room as each other.
"Nesta's an alcoholic," say those who, canonically, drink more than her.
"Nesta needs to apologize to us," say those who never apologize to Nesta.
"Nesta needs to be held accountable," say those who never suffer the consequences of their actions.
"Nesta had no right to give Bryce the Mask," say those who can't wield or control the Mask.
"Nesta will answer to Prythian for what she did," say those who never answered to Prythian for releasing death-gods onto it.
"Nesta doesn't hate you," say those who just told Nesta that everyone hated her.

Cassian: Well, I didn't have a choice in being shackled to you, either.
Xaden: I'm grateful my life is tied to yours because it means I won't have to face a day without you in it.
My heart breaks for Nesta. She deserves to be romanced. She deserves to find herself a Xaden, to be with someone who's as fiercly loyal and devoted to her as she is to him.

Feyre: What's going on with Azriel, Cassian, and Mor? Rhysand: We don't meddle 🙂
Feyre: Can we break up Lucien and Elain? Cauldron could be wrong. Rhysand: We don't meddle 🙂
Feyre: But Azriel and Elain would be so good for aesthetics! Rhysand: We don't meddle 🙂
Feyre: Lucien is Helion's son! Rhysand: We don't meddle 🙂
Nesta: *lives alone, drinks, fucks around* Feyre: Maybe we should leave her alone. Rhysand: EVERYBODY LINE UP. Here's your token.

The fun thing is that no one in the IC ever thought “wait, but if feyre dies giving birth Rhys dies too, and then the magic has to choose someone, what if the next high lord is keir, we’re fucked”
au where at the end of the war the high lords refuse to bring back rhysand cause "if feyre got their powers what about him" and then he actually dies but because feyre was never chosen by the magic of the land she isn't the next high lady and instead it's actually mor's brother and the ic go mental cause they all lose their jobs and have to deal with the repercussions of their lack of action

It's interesting that the dialogue in Onyx Storm between the Tyrrish vs. Navarrian mindsets seem to mirror that of the Nesta vs. IC conflict in HOFAS.
"It's their war!" Aura challenges. "Do you really believe we should weaken our wards, endanger our own people just to arm theirs? You choose Poromiel over Navarre"?
"We can choose both." I slip my dagger back into place and free my hand to wield.
"The riders who came before us failed to protect the innocent just because they were on the other side of our border," I argue. "They lied and hid. They were the cowards. But we don't have to be. We can choose to stand together and fight..."
The IC are of the mindset that it's Midgard's war. They believe that Nesta risked Prythian and endangered their world in an effort to help Midgard. They feel as if Nesta chose Midgard over Prythian.
Since the Asteri are a threat to both Prythian and Midgard, Nesta sees her actions as helping both worlds by defeating their mutual enemy. Nesta actually diminished the Asteri's threat to Prythian by teaming up with Bryce to eliminate them in Midgard before they had the chance to come back to Prythian.
The IC didn't want to protect the innocent just because they were in another world. They wanted to kill Bryce, close the portal, and hide out in Prythian while leaving Midgard enslaved and their innocents to be slaughtered. The IC are the cowards in this story, but Nesta refused to be. Nesta chose to stand together with Bryce and fight against their intergalactic enemy.
Then there's this line from Lewellen that I think will come into play for Nesta's story arc next book:
"I don't want to serve a kingdom that leaves civilians to die!" Lewellen snarls.
The IC only see Nesta as a weapon, as their weapon, but why should Nesta serve them or their court when they wanted to leave civilians to die?

I see some arguments when people point out that Nesta did the cooking in the cabin that if that was the case we would know about it,the narrative would tell us.That since the author doesn't say so,this isn't the case.Acotar is written in first person pov,Feyre is the narrator. If Feyre didn't consider theese things worth mentioning we wouldn't know about it.It is canon that Feyre didn't know how to cook and yet she says how they're going to make stews and pies with the doe she killed. She was the breadwinner, she didn't do any household chores, which she considered unimportant,an all too common misogynistic view.
First person pov is the most unreliable.Even books with third person limited pov can be problematic that way.Harry Potter for example is written like this and there's the obvious prejudice against Slytherins, who the author herself said in interviews they're not all bad.(And Harry's son is eventually sorted into Slytherin).Harry is just unreliable when he describes all Slytherins as evil, because he's prejudiced against them, even before he met them.
Does that mean that all books written in first person pov are unreliable? No,it also largely depends on the character.Feyre is not a good character teller and this is proved in many occasions. She says that Nesta would be relieved by her absence, when she's taken to Prythian and Nesta is worried sick and tries to find her.She thinks that unlike Lucien the IC would take her side against Rhys if that was the right thing to do and yet noone tells her about her pregnancy, obeying Rhysand's orders. She is also often unreasonable. She accuses Lucien of not coming sooner to heal her UTM,while Lucien got tortured for helping her.She detests him for believing Rhysand would rape her, forgetting that it's not about believing what Rhysand could do,but about believing her, when she says she got raped. What kind of person would doubt his friend like that, not to mention that he witnessed Rhysand drugging and touching her.
Those who speak of Feyre as an unreliable narrator are not wrong. She has proved to be so many times.

if ur personal beef is preventing you from being diplomatic then you have no business being in a position of power. the way the entire IC navigates the entire NC plus the Spring Court is influenced by personal beef and its directly influencing the relationships of those areas for the worst
Rhysand provoking and trespassing on Tamlins land, Azriel and Cassians beef with the Illyrians and Rhys' relationship w them are preventing them from putting the policies needed in place. Mors relationship with Keir is causing harm to citizens of the hewn city. Feyre "not having to deal with Tamlin" letting Rhys antagonize him. these personal, petty vendettas should not have a single member of the IC in charge of anything sorry

Why are so many people acting like Papa Archeron actually did anything for his daughters? Everyone is blaming Nesta and Elain for allowing Feyre to go hunt in the woods, but they live with their father, who is a grown man. Are you telling me that Nesta is to blame, when that grown man, their own father, could have convinced Feyre to stop. But he didn't. Why?
Because it was perfectly comfortable for him like that. Sure, maybe he was afraid that something would happen to Feyre. But he could have tried to stop her. He could have tried to get a job.
"He could find work if he wasn’t so ashamed, Nesta always said when I hissed about it." (ACOTAR, CHAPTER 2
And Nesta is right. There are so many people in the world who suffered form injuries but kept working. Do you think people in medieval times had the luxury to stay at home if they needed a cane to walk? No. So why could those people do it, but Papa Archeron can't?

All this emphasis is put in Nesta's ungratefulness towards Feyre, during their years in the cabin, like everyone else is just so full of gratitude.
Feyre is so full of gratitude towards Lucien, for his help UTM,that she condemned him, because he was too late when she was injured, forgetting that he was tortured for helping her. She's so grateful towards his mother, who helped her as well that she's not sorry in the slightest when she burns her.
Cassian is so grateful towards Nesta, who saved his life and shielded him with her body that he calls her unlovable in her depressed state, because she rejects his gift and advances. He laughs at her when she falls down their stairs and takes her on a punishment hike, never remembering that if it wasn't for Nesta he would be dead.
Rhysand shows so much gratitude for the people who saved his,his mate's and his son's life that he abuses horribly both Tamlin and Nesta ,who in Hofas is not even sure that she's not going to get executed by the man she saved.
Yes,it is clear that Nesta is the ungrateful bitch, while everyone else is flawless in this regard.

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.

Respectfully- they get mad if critics call it this, but they don’t mind calling the books this themselves.
