hot take, we don’t have to hold myths about Deities up to modern moral standards.

The stories told about the gods are written through the lense of that culture in that time period. cultural norms and standards shift and change over time- and i don’t believe the gods are tied to the morals of those stories, but rather the stories are a snapshot of how the gods were perceived at that time.

seems kinda disrespectful to go around labeling whole pantheons as “problematic” because you disagree with the norms of the culture that wrote stories about them.

I really really want every workplace to acknowledge the importance of ventilation. Every workplace I know has people full in sanitation theater mode wiping down every surface constantly meanwhile windows are closed and no one’s wearing masks correctly. The illusion of safety from seeing people cleaning constantly without actual safety is what is fucking me up. there’s so many people who don’t even realize how profoundly dangerous these environments are.

sure would be nice if we could all just agree to acknolwedge that all bigotries incorperate a fucked-up false worldview as part of their justification (the other part usually being visceral disgust and/or feeling threatened) instead of going "they're just bigots :)"

I promise you that they believe some fucked up shit and that counteracting those beliefs is worthwhile not only for pulling people out of bigotry but for keeping people from developing it in the first place

and claiming that acknolwedging a bigoted belief system in order to oppose it makes you a bigot actually? fuck right off with that. I know that not everyone is out to deconvert/deradicalize, but among those of us who are, it's pretty well-understood that bigots will always be more willing to listen to arguments against bigotry that acknowledge how their worldview actually works than a simple "you're bad!" - in a lot of cases, that's how we were convinced out of shit.
