Hiya tumblr Monsterfuckers! This is Researcher M (he/him) back at work. If you saw a link floating around last year about a trans monsterfucker survey, that was me! The survey was only open for 3 days in October 2023 but it received 38 VERY detailed responses. It became the main data source for the presentation and paper that resulted from two semesters of research and writing. It earned me a great grade, a glowing reference letter to grad school, and encouragment to seek publication, expanding it into a full length article to submit to academic journals. Meaning...I did a great job on a school project. Great! But I couldn't use it just yet.

That independent study was the very last elective I needed to graduate. I walked in May 2024 (graduating cum laude, even!) and am now considered an independent researcher.

So hell yeah, I'm going to continue this research! The first version of my paper, adapted from a 30 minute audio presentation (kind of a podcast format), outlined really just some of the basic concepts I want to explore further. I have many more pages of notes to explore, and literature to read.

Some of what I've learned was expected, but I have found so many surprises amidst what you all share with me! Common experiences, common patterns of development, common threads of meaning-making and identity negotiation. It's literally one of the most fulfilling pieces of research I've ever done.

I have reopened my Trans+ Monsterfucker Survey for new participants, and if you meet the basic qualifications (18+ years old, not cis, like monsters romantically/sexually) please take some time to fill this out. I would expect it to take anywhere from 15-60 minutes to fill out depending on the level of detail you wish to provide.
