Damn, it was really fucking dark. But Addison Caldwell knew what she had to do. With silent steps, she crept down the wide corridor on the 54th floor of the bleak office building. She wore a tight fitting solid black jacket and black trousers, her usually messy white-gold hair pulled back into a sleek knot at the nape of her neck.
Pausing four doors down from the conference room that was spilling light from under the doorway, she reached for the nearest doorknob, listened for a moment - empty - then jiggled the handle. Fuck, locked. Soundlessly she moved to the next and listened. Empty. Jiggle. And open, the doorknob turned. The corner of her mouth quirked and she slipped inside, closing the door behind her. The room was small and pitch black, no windows, perfect.
Addison pressed her hands to the wall and stilled completely. It wasn’t necessarily required for her unique powerset but it helped her concentrate. Her stomach rumbled and she cursed under her breath but otherwise ignored it. She had to. It was only a moment and she focused in fully on the conversation taking place 100 feet away, through three different walls, as if she was in the room herself.
Politicians. She wrinkled her nose. Fucking twats. But she desperately needed the money. The people that were paying her needed to know what this particular senator’s plans were for the upcoming crime bill and what information could be used to make sure it went their way. They probably weren’t great people either but she didn’t give a fuck. Screw all of them.
Addison took notes silently, typing her own shorthand into the device on her wrist. As soon as she could hear them wrapping their meeting up she uploaded her notes to a cloud and pulled her hood up to cover her hair before moving to the door. She paused again for a second to determine no one was in the corridor, then slipped out of the room.
A soft breath of relief left her when she found the hallway still empty and dark and she headed for the emergency stairs at the other side of the building. It was a long corridor. After a minute she stopped cold when she both heard the hard thud of someone else’s heart and noticed a red dot through the blackness, focusing in the middle of her chest then rising up. Addison froze, but it was too late and she knew it.
“Don’t you dare fuckin’ move you supe cunt. If you so much as blink, I’ll blow your pretty brains out and I’ve done me research on ya, so I’m pretty sure that endeavor would prove successful.”
The sound of the safety being disengaged on a high powered tactical rifle was clear as day.
Shit.
She was pretty sure it would too.
.
Hours passed before Addison saw another person. Her lower back gave a dull throb of pain from the stupid metal chair and the chains that kept her in one stiff position. Heaven help a normal person left in this situation...but then maybe he’d left her this long on purpose because he knew exactly what she was. Even with her accelerated rate of healing, if it was too much for too long, she could still feel it. Pain. Her faithful constant companion.
Addison closed her eyes to try once again to get a read on what was going on in the building around her but it was difficult. There were too many people and she was weak. She heard muffled voices and shouts, footsteps and thuds. Someone was crying two floors up and another shouting. She shifted her attention to the other side of the building and higher up, using all her energy -
Suddenly the door to the interrogation room flew open, clanging against the wall. Unprepared for it, Addison wasn’t able to buffer against the sound to her sensitive hearing.
“Fucking hell,” she startled, her ears ringing and her eyes flying open. How the fuck had he snuck up on her. Addison glared up at the man that entered the room. Dark and fierce, his eyes seemed to gleam with energy and there was a cocky smirk on his face.
“Oh my apologies Ms.Caldwell, did I interrupt some supe fuckery you were working on there? Do forgive me.” His British accent was thick and rough, and took her off guard. This was the same agent that had threatened her in the hallway - and the sneer on his face made it clear what his real feelings were. He closed the door and took the chair across from her, slapping a thin manila file on the table between them.
Addison shifted, unable to help herself, testing the chains wrapped around her wrists behind her and connected to her ankles and the floor.
“Titanium and steel,” he gave her a hateful smirk. “Anchored 5 feet into the concrete. So you might as well get comfy. You’re gonna be here for awhile so let’s just have a little chat why don’t we?” The expression on his face was keen and knowing, his dark hazel eyes arresting. “Tell me what you know about the people you were workin’ for.”
Addison kept quiet. She didn’t really know that much. It was a job, money she needed to survive, and she didn’t fucking care. But she had recognized her current captors immediately as CIA which meant the people she had taken the job from were probably tied to foreign terrorists. Shit. “I got the contact from a weapons guy I’ve worked with. Normal buying and selling. I thought it was more of the same. I - didn’t know.”
He leaned closer across the table. “Well, that’s too bad now ain’t it. Because those cunts are diabolical monsters and you workin’ for them is only going to help get a lot of innocent people killed.” He leaned back looking at her like he could see straight into her black soul. “The only thing worse than a supe is a fuckin’ stupid one.”
Something heated and wild bubbled up inside of her, emotion that threatened to burn up through her from the inside out. She couldn’t stand the smug, demeaning look on his face - what right did he have to sit there and judge her like he was a god. She matched his dark glare with one of her own. The sound of his heartbeat was steady and calm and it only made her angrier. “Suck my dick, douchebag.”
“Oi!” He chuckled with what she could only describe as an evil grin, openly satisfied he had antagonized her to that level. “Aren’t you just a joy to be around.”
Addison steeled herself against her rising emotions and narrowed her eyes at him. “I am a ray of fucking sunshine.”
He gave a low laugh, standing up and pushing the chair back in, his eyes glittering with mirth that she was sure would only be a bad sign for her.
“Well listen here, sunshine.” He put his hands on the table, leaning down to look her in the eye, fire burning in his, his voice low and dangerous. “We’ve got you, and you’re not goin’ anywhere. You’ll be locked in alone, chained up like the animal you are, for the rest of your life. You might be strong, eh, but you’re not strong enough to escape me and no one out there gives one single fuck about you, do they?”
Addison swallowed but fought to keep her expression stony and cold. Maybe he was right but she didn’t think they really had enough proof to put her away. “I didn’t do anything.”
“Aye, but you were goin’ to, sunshine, weren’t ya? So if you tell us everything you know, maybe we’ll let you out when you’re 90 for good behavior.” He winked and he was gone. An hour later, the next guy came in.
.
“Absolutely fuckin’ not. No fuckin’ way.”
Addison could hear the smug asshole easily in the room on the other side of the glass. He knew what she could do so he must not care, she reasoned, though she wondered if she’d be able to hear him even without super hearing. Still it gave her pleasure he was so upset.
Because she’d made a deal.
What she heard next could only be described as a feral growl. “I am not workin’ with a fuckin’ supe cunt like her.”
“Butcher, stow it. It’s one mission. Think of her as a tool, get in, get the target and get out.”
Butcher, Addison thought. Fitting name.
She heard him snarl and pace across the room. “I shouldn’t even be on this job. I don’t know why I ever listen to you Gray.”
“Because I’m your partner. And we’re a team. We need this Butcher. We need this now. And she can get us in tonight.”
“I better not come to fuckin’ regret this.”
The door to the interrogation room slammed open a second later and she despised how it made her jump.
“You’re signin’ your life away, you hear me? And if you even think of steppin’ out of line I’ll shoot you myself. And no weapons,” he stabbed his finger in the air at her, fierce and angry.
She wanted to shout right back at him but suddenly she was just too tired to fight. Her shoulders slumped and she tipped her head. She wasn’t what he thought she was. “Fine. Can you take the chains off now?”
He crossed his arms. “No I bloody well can’t. Anything else you’d like to request, sunshine?”
She wanted to throw a knife through his head but she bit her ire back. It wouldn’t help anything now. “Can I at least have a meal before you put me to work?” she ground out through clenched teeth.
“Oi, hungry now are ya? Terrorism sure works up an appetite, don’t it.”
She looked away. “I haven’t eaten in a few days.”
Billy leaned on the table again to level with her. “And why exactly should I believe that?”
Addison didn’t answer and she didn’t turn back to him but she could feel his gaze on her, studying her and he must have seen something. He left the room and 10 minutes later she was cutting into a plate of steak and potatoes.

Chapter 29
It was well into the middle of the day before they could leave the site. Addison sat with her legs curled up in the backseat of Butcher’s car with the door open while he spoke with Mallory.
When he finished, Addison noticed Mallory shoot her a concerned look as he walked back to her from across the parking lot, but to be honest Addison didn’t feel much of anything except exhaustion. She wasn’t scared of that piece of shit and he hadn’t really hurt her. Whatever knockout gas he’d used had done a fine job of keeping her loopy and out of it.
“They won’t stop until they find the cunt,” Billy rumbled as he came up, leaning against the car door. “And she swore to call us as soon as she did.”
Addison nodded, and finally took a deep breath. As much as she wanted to track the bastard down herself, she could hardly keep her eyes open except for the fact that she was still covered in soot and dirt and blood, sticky and gross.
Billy let his gaze soften as he looked her over. “Don’t think it’s safe to go back to either of our places right now,” he said, rubbing at his jaw.
“I’ll get a hotel room,” Addison replied, and she turned to her bag without waiting for him to answer. An agent had gone by her apartment earlier for her to grab clothes and her phone and a few other important things she didn’t want left there.
Fuck the moral high ground, she thought as she plucked her cell from her bag. She’d use her black card to get a fucking suite on the top floor of one of those hotels uptown with as much security as the White House. They’d earned it.
As Billy drove them across the city, Addison reserved a room on her phone, making sure it was a place where you could check in and get a digital key card on the app without having to talk to anyone at the front desk. When they pulled into the parking garage, she scrubbed at her face in the mirror on the sun visor then pulled a loose sweater on over her bloody tank top. With Billy’s duster and a pair of sunglasses added, she thought they could probably get through the lobby without being arrested.
She was right and they made it inside. Her key code was needed not only to get into the elevator but to get to the floor their room was on as well and Addison gave a quiet sigh of relief. She needed to rest, and she could not bear it if anything else happened to Billy because of her. They double locked the door of the room with a deadbolt and the thick metal door guard.
The room had a small sitting area and a huge bed, with a bathroom to the side. For a moment Addison stood there, not even able to think what she was supposed to do next. She tossed her bag on a chair then looked up to find Billy watching her.
Once more, when she met his intense hazel eyes they were drawn to each other by something outside of themselves - or maybe by something deep, deep inside. Billy took one step forward and wrapped her up in his arms, pulling her hard against his broad chest.
“I’m so sorry, Addi. I was such a prick, it was my fault…”
She shook her head against his shoulder, sliding her fingers into his hair and pulling back to look at him. “I wasn’t any better,” she murmured. “I’m not hurt but I shouldn’t have put you through that…”
“He’s after me, Addi, he’s using you to hurt me, I can’t…” his voice was thick and gruff. “I can’t let -“
Addison shook her head again, and pulled Billy to her. “Fuck him. We’ll get him.”
“If something happens to you because of me I couldn’t live with myself, Addison, I won’t…” he broke off, his eyes dark and intense. “You’re better off -“
“Nothing’s going to happen to me. I’m here. I’m okay. I’m going to fucking kick that guy’s ass.”
Billy smirked, but Addison knew he was still struggling with the guilt. She could sense this was not something he was going to let drop but exhaustion was weighing her mind and her body down. “We’ll talk about it more later.”
Billy finally nodded and turned to kiss her temple again. “Let me start the shower for you, eh?” he murmured.
Addison nodded gratefully. “You too. I need to patch you up after.”
He sighed, but didn’t argue. He knew just as well as she did that her cuts had long healed but his injuries would not.
She pulled her sweater off and tossed it over a chair then threw the rest of her clothes in the trash in the bathroom. She felt disgusting and looked just as bad but it was Billy she was worried about. After he adjusted the shower spray, she watched him as he undressed, cataloguing every bruise and patch of raw red skin she could see and desperately wishing there was some way she could just make them disappear.
Billy wasn’t bothered at all though. He held the shower door open for her and she stepped under the warm water, groaning in utter relief as everything immediately started to wash away.
Billy stepped in behind her, reaching for one of the little hotel bottles of soap and pouring it into his palm before he started gently rubbing his hands over her body. He started at her shoulders, smoothing and kneading, then urged her to turn around. The grotesque, disfigured B was still visible above her heart, and he ran the tip of his thumb over the dried blood with dark eyes before he washed it away along with everything else.
Addison closed her eyes, reveling in the feeling of the spray of water on her back and Billy’s touch washing away everything that had happened. He ran his soapy hands carefully over her breasts, then her stomach and her hips, before turning her around again to wash her back. Addison felt her body filling with warmth, her muscles relaxing one by one like magic as he took care of her.
After he helped her wash her hair she twisted it into a knot on top of her head and turned to him. “My turn,” she murmured in a tone that brokered no discussion.
She did the same for him, but was especially careful over each burn and cut she came across, not all of them new. She made a note to herself of which ones needed to be tended when they got out whether he liked it or not, she savored the bits of him that were unmarred, lines of hard muscle and firm skin, and she reverently stroked the scars left over from god knows what horrible things.
The water was still warm when she finished, so she whispered “just a few more minutes” and Billy made a low noise of agreement in response. He sat on the wide tile bench in the shower and gathered in his lap and he held her there in the water until she started to fall asleep against his chest.
Finally Billy reached out to turn off the water and they dried off with thick towels. Addison pulled on a clean oversized tank top but Billy didn’t bother with anything. “Bed,” she directed him and he did as he was told. She pulled her first aid kit out of her bag and started to dab a little salve on the worst of the burns, adding bandages to ones that needed it, but trying not to be overly attentive.
“How did you get through the explosion?” she asked as she gently prodded at a patch of red skin on his arm, reaching for the burn gel again.
“When I saw the bomb I legged it for the back of the place but I knew I weren’t gonna make it out. Shut myself up in a walk-in freezer just in time and then I found a way out that weren’t totally in flames yet.”
She put her stuff away then reached up to slide her hand along his jaw. “Thank you for coming for me…” She had to let him know, she had to tell him what it meant for him to never give up the way he did.
He nodded then moved her kit off the bed. “‘Nough playin’ doctor, sunshine. Ya need sleep.”
He pushed the heavy blankets away and helped her lay down before pulling them back up and gathering her close. He nestled in close to her, slipping his arm around her waist and she wrapped her arms around him as he lay along side her settling with his head on her shoulder.
She thanked the universe over and over in her head that she still had him. After a moment she realized she could tell he was still thinking, not falling asleep.
“What are you doing?” she hummed, carding her fingers through his hair as he tightened his arm around her waist, his ear pressed to the flat of her chest. “Not that I’m complaining…”
“Listenin’ to your heartbeat,” he murmured gruffly. “Go to sleep.”
Addison smiled, closing her eyes, and she did the same, listening to his.
They were woken up hours later by Billy’s phone ringing from the nightstand. He jerked awake, moving his free arm to reach for it before he’d even fully opened his eyes.
“Yeah,” he answered, his voice hoarse.
“We found him,” Mallory replied in her customary clipped tone. Billy sat up so fast from where they were tangled together on the bed Addison tumbled out of his arms.
“Who is it,” he growled.
“It took some digging but we traced the phone to a company called Dynamite Consulting, which is a subsidiary of Atlas Group, owned by NovaStar. Which is owned by James Stillwell.”
“Stillwell? The fuck?!”
“Madelyn Stillwell’s brother.”

Chapter 28
Addison’s question echoed throughout the cold, dark warehouse, but MM was only focused on her.
He was holding Addi’s arms so tight she might’ve cried out if she wasn’t still halfway drugged with the knockout gas. He held her still as his gaze raked over her, assessing for damage like the medic he was. “Addison, you ok? Addison!” he shouted trying to get her to concentrate on him.
All she could do was shake her head frantically as she reached for him and gripped his shirt in her fists. “Billy,” she repeated. “Where’s Billy? Where is Billy?” All she could think about was that he wasn’t here and it was the first thing to truly make her panic so far.
“Butcher went to the other address…Addison, focus. Are you hurt? Do you remember any of what happened? Do you know who took you? Did you see anything?”
Addison forced herself to take a breath as she shook her head again, still holding on to him. “No…I don’t… I was fucking high as a kite. I don’t remember anything. We have to get to Billy. We have to get out of here, he said…that guy…”
MM finally gave in, and nodded his head, sliding his arm around her back. “You’re right, this place could blow any second, let’s go.”
Addison could tell by the look on his face that he wanted to just swing her over his shoulder and carry her out of there but he knew well enough not to. Addison was determined to make it out on her own now that she knew she was okay. Good enough, anyway.
Still, MM kept one arm around her. It wasn’t until she was able to trot outside with them that he visibly relaxed.
As soon as they were out of the building, MM made sure Frenchie had a hold of Addison before he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He started dialing as they ran to the car, Frenchie making sure Addison could make it on her own.
“Fuck,” MM growled, thumbing the screen and dialing again. “I can’t get any service. That motherfucker must’ve had some kind of access point set up for his own WiFi.”
He tossed his phone to Addison as he climbed into the car and started the engine in one motion. “Keep trying, I know a shortcut,” he growled. As he peeled down the road Addison swore she heard the building they just left explode behind them and she felt her blood run cold as she tried to dial Billy again.
*.*.*
The old tires on Billy’s Cadillac skidded, gravel flying as Billy slammed on the breaks in front of the second location, jumping out of the car barely before it came to a complete stop.
Kimiko was hot on his heels. He burst through the entryway of the abandoned building, knocking the old door right off its hinges to crash to the floor. It looked like an old restaurant and they dashed through the lobby, around the corner into a large room with a few dusty tables and overturned chairs.
“Addi?!” Billy shouted. “Addi, where are you?!”
A quiet noise came from the next room over and together they raced in that direction. The sight that met them made Billy roar in defeat. It wasn’t her. It wasn’t fucking her. He felt like he was going to be sick and he almost threw a table into the wall but the sound of the young woman whimpering desperately snapped him out of it.
“Fucking hell,” he growled. Kimiko was already with her, pulling the gag from her mouth and trying in her way to reassure her silently.
“We’re gonna get you out of here,” Billy rumbled as he crossed around behind her, flipping his knife open to cut through the zip ties binding her wrists.
“He - he said there’s a bomb,” the young woman whimpered, her whole body trembling as Kimiko helped her to stand.
“Get her out of here,” Butcher said to Kimiko, turning to meet her stare.
She shook her head frantically, using her free hand to sign wildly at him.
Butcher shook his head. “I have to check. I have to make sure she ain’t…” He swallowed. “Get her out. Now.”
The sky was just beginning to lighten on the horizon as sunrise drew nearer. Addison, MM and Frenchie pulled up to the abandoned lot to find Kimiko jogging through the parking lot, or trying, with her arm around another woman who looked like she could barely stand upright.
As soon as they parked, Frenchie called out for Kimiko and ran to help her but all Addison could see was who wasn’t there.
She scrambled out of the car in a daze, still partly in shock, half drugged, exhausted and buzzed out of her mind on adrenaline all at the same time. “Billy…” she choked out, looking from Kimiko toward the building and to Kimiko again. “Billy, where’s Billy?!” Addison stumbled forward, looking desperately at Kimiko, who shook her head, as she helped the woman lean against the hood of the car. As soon as both her hands were free she started signing frantically.
“He’s in there,” Frenchie translated. “He’s looking for you.”
Addison whirled around, pushing off hard and ready to race in to find him but MM moved like lightning and snagged her around the waist with his arm, pulling her back against him. A frustrated cry left her as he held onto her easily. She was too weak to do anything but push futilely at his muscled arm.
“I have to…please!” she cried out. She couldn’t focus enough to listen but she just knew the place was going to -
A fiery explosion tore through the atmosphere in front them and they all ducked on instinct. Addison heard a horrible scream then realized it came from herself. “No!” She cried out, finally lurching away from MM. “No…” She took two steps forward but there was no use going any further. She fisted her fingers in her own shirt, her hands shaking as panic and despair bubbled up inside of her. The building was in flames now. Heat wove through the air, warming her skin while debris and ashes floated down from the sky. It was smoky and hazy and she couldn’t see much of anything but she couldn’t tear her gaze away either.
He was gone. This was it. She’d gotten him killed, blown to pieces. After everything he’d been through, it was her that killed him. A desperate sob escaped from her throat and she had to gasp for air as her lungs began to seize up. Her chest was filling with smoke but it felt like lead, heavy and dark and horrible. The image of his dead body, in there now, blackened, burning, wouldn’t leave her head. She’d done this to him. She caused this. “Noo…” she heaved, clutching her middle. She was frozen where she stood, unable to move, not even able to collapse.
The grey smoke swirled and changed in front of her, shadows shifting and wavering until she couldn’t tell if what she was seeing was real or she was hallucinating. It felt like she’d been suspended there for hours but it had only been a few seconds. And now the smoke was coming toward her, maybe coming to take her too...shifting into a dark figure of death. Oh please, please take me too, she thought. Let me go with him…Billy…
The hazy smoke figure whirled and evolved as she watched through her blurry vision until she could almost imagine she really was looking at Billy, hunched over, stalking and stumbling toward her. What a cruel trick for her mind to play on her, she thought, the tears coming harder now.
But then MM called out from behind her, and the figure came closer and looked up at her. Billy. It was him. He was alive. Somehow, he was alive.
When their eyes met suddenly they were both running toward each other, like magnets unable to control the pull they felt to be melded together. Addison was crying desperately now, her face wet with tears. She couldn’t get to him fast enough.
As soon as she was close enough, she leapt into his arms, and they crashed into each other with so much force all of the wind was knocked out of her. Billy dropped to his knees as he held her against his chest with an iron embrace. He was covered in soot and smoke and dirt. His shirt was torn and her clothes were still wet with her blood but she couldn’t care. Her bare knees scraped against the pavement as he dragged her closer and she held on to him desperately, straddling his lap on the ground.
“Addison,” he gasped roughly, and she sobbed again at the sound of his rough voice. “Addison. You’re okay. Holy fuck, ya scared me,” he slid his hand into her hair, pulling her to him and kissing her forehead. “You’re my girl, ya hear me?” he was crying with her now, his heavy brow furrowed and his eyes glistening. His strong fingers were tangled so deep in her hair she was sure he’d never be able to get them out again and he was holding her so tight she could hardly breathe. “My girl…”
“Billy,” she said his name, in gasps and soft shudders, over and over.
He tugged on her hair so he could look at her, look in her eyes, maybe to try and convince himself she was real because that’s how she felt too and she could only cry harder when she met his dark hazel eyes, brimming with tears and fire and affection and need and everything else ever.
“I love you,” she sobbed out, still struggling for breath, her heart racing wildly in her chest. “I’m so sorry, Billy. I love you. I love you.”
Somehow the emotion in his eyes grew even deeper. “I love you, too, sunshine,” he husked, his voice low and thick and gruff and perfect. “I love you too.”
Sirens sounded in the distance and Addi realized everyone was probably staring at them but she couldn’t care less. Billy shifted and gathered Addison even closer, pressing her face back into the crook of his neck.
She closed her eyes and stayed still until she could hear the beating of his heart, over and over and over. Her Billy. He was alive. He was okay.
“I love you,” she said again, sighing against his pulse, “I love you, I love you,” and she felt him repeat it with her.
Listening to his heart, in his arms like this, after what they’d made it through, Addison knew with an absoluteness she had never experienced ever before in her life that she would never willingly leave his side again.

A Billy Butcher Christmas 3/?
Hi! It’s my birthday 😌
Chapter 3
You slid your hand over his chest but you pulled away from the kiss before you could lose your senses, at least not yet. “Billy, this means so much to me. I wanted to make it special for you. If I could. But now you’ve gone and done all this…” You tugged lightly on his Santa hat.
"Aw darlin'...ya do so much all the time. Besides...it were fun surprisin' ya. Bet ya didn't think I had it in me. But I take in more than ya think sometimes." He smiled at you and darned if that dimple didn’t just make your heart melt.
You kissed him again, softly but letting him deepen the kiss a little, his lips soft and warm while you nestled a little deeper into his lap. “Oh wait!” You pulled back suddenly. “I got you something as well,” you grinned as you climbed out of his lap…much to his dismay.
"Hurry back darlin'...me best gift is havin' you in me arms." But you caught just a glimpse of the little boy he once was in a flash of excitement in his eyes and it made your heart flip. You pulled his gift out from under the little tree and settled back into his lap as you handed it to him.
It was a good sized box and even he had a little trouble holding you while he unwrapped his gift. He peeled back the paper carefully to reveal a white box and he quickly took the lid off.
“It’s a new coat,” you said softly as he pulled it out. “It’s exactly the same. And I thought maybe you would want to keep your old one but maybe this would ne nice to have too…”
He brushed his large hand over the fabric then pulled it out to look at. He looked at you, his dark eyes shining. "It's perfect darlin'. Me old one is gettin' a little worn in a couple spots. It's still got some life but I was thinking I was gonna have to start huntin' for a new one soon and...well...ya know shoppin' ain't me favorite thing. This is perfect." He laid it aside and went in for another kiss in thanks.
You slid your arms around his shoulders, melting against his chest. You were filled with warmth that was quickly turning into heat. Billy’s kiss was slow and soft but soon enough he deepened it, tightening his arms around your waist and flicking his tongue against your lower lip.
As his tongue slid over yours, his own taste was accented with the flavor of whiskey from a little earlier. It swirled around yours in a possessive slow dance and a promise of pleasures to come. His strong fingers slid into your hair and he tugged gently.
Sparkles of electricity went up and down your spine when he did that and you shivered deliciously. “Should I try it on?” You asked him softly, a little shyly, nodding toward the tiny little nightgown he’d gotten for you.
His eyes warmed and lit up. "I'd love to see it on ya, darlin'...I think the color will suit ya but I want to see it firsthand." He watched as you took it out of the box and held it up, looking over your shoulder at him with a smile.
You took it into the bathroom and changed quickly, setting all your clothes aside. The nightgown was very short, just covering the tops of you thighs, but it was very soft and you loved the color. You kept your necklace on and added just a bit of the perfume then stepped out into the bedroom to find Billy sitting on the bed.
His dark eyes heated up immediately as he took you in from head to toe. "God...your breathtakin' darlin' girl. You look sexy as hell in that Christmas red. Way better than the vision I had in me head even." You spun around for him with a smile.
You had to admit it was a little cold with only this and your necklace on and you didn’t waste anytime going over to the bed. Climbing up, you straddled his outstretched legs and sat on his thighs. “Do you want a band-aid for this cut?” you murmured. It actually looked like it was already closed up and fine.
"Nah, darlin'...I just want you," he said, his voice taking on a decidedly husky tinge. He pulled you into his strong arms and pressed you against his warm solid chest, nuzzling your neck sweetly. "Aw, ya put some of that perfume on, too." He stopped to breathe you in for a long moment.

Addison heard footsteps outside her door a moment before it opened.
“Bar’s too bloody crowded,” Billy Butcher grumbled as he let himself into her little loft apartment. He gestured to the cupboard where she kept her alcohol and she nodded.
Lately he’d made a kind of odd but sort of endearing habit of dropping in randomly and out of the blue whenever he pleased - but usually when either the bar was too crowded or he’d caused a fight.
“And why are you listenin’ to this shite.” He stripped his heavy black coat off, tossing it over a chair and grabbed her good whiskey from the top shelf.
Addison was sitting on her bed, curled up with the New York Times while ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ by Frank Sinatra was playing softly from her phone.
“Billy,” she looked at him as he poured two drinks, giving a soft laugh. He lifted his brow at her.
Her eyes widened a little as she realized he wasn’t joking. “It’s Christmas Eve,” she said more than a little surprised he really had no idea.
He looked out her balcony windows as if to check if she was telling the truth. “Is it?”
“Yes,” she chuckled.
“Well, forgive me if I ain’t got much use for that kind of thing anymore.”
Addison bit her lip, it was sad but also she was warmly amused by his grumbling. She’d never had use for it before either, but she couldn’t help but let herself feel a little cheer this year. She had a place to sleep, food in the refrigerator and nobody harassing her for anything. And now it looked like she maybe had someone to spend the time with.
He handed her the second glass then took a sip of his own. It worked like a magic potion. His shoulders immediately relaxed and she swore she could see stress evaporating from his skin.
“Come on...” she jerked her head at him, beckoning him over as she scooted across her bed to the far side, leaving him plenty of room to join her. “Let’s watch a movie. Just sit and veg and pretend for a few hours that the world isn’t complete shit.”
He gave a her a doubtful look with his dark eyes but she wasn’t taking no for an answer. “Don’t you have any mates or some tosser to ring up for the night?”
“Nope,” she shook her head. “No friends, no time for tossers. Kick your boots off and get over here, Butcher.” She picked up the remote, quickly choosing a not-too-sappy Christmas movie to stream. “Anyway, you owe me.”
That struck up his ire but she smiled to herself as he started toeing out of his black boots. “Now wait just a bloody minute. I don’t owe you a fuckin’ thing, sunshine.”
She shrugged. “I did save your life.”
“That’s debatable,” he glared at her, “that bullet was nowhere near me head.”
“He was aiming for your head,” she sighed, reiterating the argument they’d repeated at least five times since it happened. “He must’ve lowered his hand when he saw me.”
“Whatever you say, love...but, eh...seeing as you have a full bottle of me favorite whiskey...I supposed I can stay for awhile," he grumbled.
Addison smiled to herself as he sat on her wide bed, still looking quite doubtful and annoyed and she pressed play. As the movie buffered she picked up her phone to turn the music off and order food then tossed it aside. She took a slow sip of the whiskey herself, it was good, and settled back against her pillows.
Food came halfway through the movie, and it was still spread out across her bed while they picked at it when the movie finished, so she chose a more recent Christmas comedy with Seth Rogen to watch next, encouraged when Butcher didn’t object. Halfway through that movie she made a huge bowl of popcorn and poured them each their fourth glass of whiskey.
By the time the movie was nearing its end it was nearly 3am and she could hardly keep her eyes open from the food and the alcohol and the late hour and she felt herself drifting contentedly away.
****
The movie ended and Billy turned, surprised to find Addison sound asleep, slumped on the pillows behind her. They had been so contentedly quiet together he hadn’t realized when she drifted off.
Some of her long, messy gold hair had fallen into the popcorn bowl and he shook his head, but he couldn’t control the little blip of exasperated affection. He carefully lifted her hair from the bowl and set the popcorn aside.
Her expression was so relaxed, no lines of worry or stress, her skin smooth, her hair spread across the pillow. He couldn’t help himself. She looked beautiful. Like some kind of dark angel.
She was right. The quiet, simple night had lifted a weight off of him but still a part of him wished he had not stayed. Because he was beginning to not hate her and that was something that concerned him. The last thing he wanted to do was to care about someone else.
He carefully reached across her to grab the remote and turn the tv off then slowly stood up from the bed but the motion was enough to wake her. Her dark grey eyes blinked open and she looked up at him sleepily.
“Oh Billy...” she murmured. “I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to fall asleep.” Her voice was so soft and quiet, like a mist able to sneak through some crack he must have somewhere in his cold, stone heart.
“No worries, sunshine. Get some rest,” he said, straightening to leave.
“No...don’t go,” she murmured, waking a little more and reaching out to grab his hand. “Stay.”
Fuck. Of course he’d got his end away when he needed to but he hadn’t...slept slept...with a woman since...
Not like this.
“Look -“
“Please stay,” she interrupted him with her soft misty voice. “It’s Christmas. Just sleep.” She patted the bed where he had been sitting. More than enough room for the two of them with more than enough space in between.
He sighed, knowing he must be glowering but she was too used to it and it didn’t affect her in the least.
“It’s almost morning anyway,” she mumbled as her eyelids started to droop again. “Just stay... Christmas...” she trailed off.
He had a sneaking suspicion she would keep arguing until he gave in, and she really did look like she needed the sleep.
He heaved another sigh, sitting back down on the bed. “You are the most bloody annoying person I have ever met in me life...” He reached down to grab the extra blanket at the end of her bed then laid down on his side pulling it over himself. To his even greater annoyance, now she was smiling even with her eyes closed and he grumbled to himself.
None of it mattered though. Within the next five minutes they were both sound asleep as snow began to fall softly outside.
*****
Addison woke to the sound of her loft door opening and she blinked in the bright morning light trying to get her bearings. Who could be...
She was finally able to blink the sleep away and focus on the door and found Billy Butcher walking in with two huge cups of coffee and a couple bags of food over his wrist.
He gave her a sort of half smile when he met her gaze. “Merry Christmas,” he murmured, holding up the coffee and the food.
“Merry Christmas. Mmmm that smells amazing.” Addison sat up in bed as Billy set the bags and coffee down on her table.
“I went to the bakery on the corner. Just grabbed a bit of everything.”
She stretched a little and climbed out of bed, still dressed in her leggings and t-shirt from the day before, as Billy started pulling bagels and pastries and breakfast sandwiches from the bags.
“Mmm, thank you,” she murmured. “I’m starved.”
He chuckled a little and she couldn’t help the little curl of warmth in her belly.
“Well the way I figure it, as long as I’m buying you food then I never have to say thank you, or sorry, for anything.”
Addison had already spread some cream cheese on a still warm bagel and was taking a bite before he finished his sentence so all she could say in reply was “mmmhmmm.”
She swore she could almost see a real smile, not one of those devious ones, a glimmer in his dark eyes as he watched her but then he turned away reaching for a bagel himself. But for one second she swore she saw his dimple.
They ate quietly together until Addison couldn’t take another bite and he helped her clean up before he left.
He nodded, in his way, as he left, and she listened to his footsteps head down the hallway then she fell back into bed.
She wasn’t naïve enough to think this changed anything, that it meant anything at all, but still she cherished the quiet night she’d had with Billy Butcher and locked it up inside, safe forever.

A Billy Butcher Christmas 2/?

Chapter 2
Billy looked out the window as if he was seeing the Christmas lights for the first time and the expression on his face lightened just a little. “Ah,” he sighed, and turned back to you. “It is, isn’t it.”
"I’m sorry the job didn't work out the way you wanted,” you snuggled closer to him determined not to let his lack of Christmas spirit get you down. “Maybe I can cheer you up and we can make some good Christmas memories." When you looked up into his dark eyes you caught a fleeting glimpse of real warmth but it was soon swept into a maelstrom of other emotions you couldn’t quite pin down.
Abruptly he stood up, leaving a draft of cold air in his wake. "I were just thinkin' of somethin' I need to run by M.M. I'll be right back," he said in a somewhat grumbly voice as he left the room.
There was suddenly a lump in your throat and a prickle of tears behind your eyes as you gazed back out at the lights. So much for your -
Billy’s gruff voice suddenly interrupted your thoughts. "Ho ho ho...” he intoned with a deep voice. “I really kinda like me girls on the naughty side."
When you turned around the most incongruous sight met your eyes. There was Billy with a Santa hat set at a jaunty angle and a Christmas sack of something slung over his shoulder.
A warm laugh bubbled up through your tears, now tears of joy, and you hastily wiped them away. “Billy…” You were at a loss for words, so instead you stood, throwing your arms around his neck. His free hand slid around your waist, holding you close as you hugged him and as soon as you were able to collect yourself you pulled back to look at him. “What’s all this?” you breathed, eyeing the red sack.
His eyes crinkled with his smile. "Your very own somewhat deranged Saint Nick bringin' you a sack of well deserved Christmas joy. Oh and uh...ya can take the saint part at yer own peril." He set the sack on the couch then sat down next to it pulling you into his lap. "Ya wannn see what Santa brought ya for Christmas, little girl?"
You giggled and couldn’t help grinning, feeling those happy tears prick at your eyes again. His lap was warm and it seemed everything before forgotten. “Well I like my Santa kind of naughty as well, so that’s perfect. I -“ You were so overwhelmed that he did all this for you that you lost your words for a second. “Yes let’s see.”
He grinned as he opened the sack and pulled out the first bright beautifully wrapped package. You could just imagine him charming the store clerk into wrapping it for him. The thought made you smile. You carefully unwrapped the package knowing Billy was probably about ready to tear the paper off himself so you could see what's inside. Finally opening the box and parting the tissue you caught the first glimpse of satin and lace in Christmas red.
You pulled the material carefully from the box, it was impossibly soft and beautiful, and you held it up. It was a red satin nightgown, short with thin straps and trimmed with expensive red lace. You honestly loved it, and you had a feeling he would love it just as much. “Billy, it’s beautiful. I love it, thank you.”
He grinned that charming grin that brought out his dimple. "Glad ya like it, darlin'. I thought it'd look gorgeous on ya. I'm hopin' you'll try it on for me later." He winks at you, his dark hazel eyes twinkling with pleasure.
"Now, let's see here," he says opening the sack again and pulling out a prettily wrapped package about the size and shape of a bottle of perfume.
You took the gift and so carefully started to unwrap it. There’s no way…you thought to yourself. But it was. Your favorite perfume in a perfect small glass bottle. Really it was the only perfume you’d wear. There had never been any other you’d liked but you’d ran out of your own bottle a couple months ago and hadn’t wanted to spend the money on new one. “Billy,” you whispered, taking the cap off and smelling the scent. “How did you know?”
"I remembered how good it smelled on you everytime I nuzzled into yer neck and...I hadn't smelled it for awhile. I do notice little things sometimes," he chuckled softly. "I'm glad it makes ya happy. Happy looks good on you." He shakes the sack out and one more pretty package tumbles out. It's long and sort of flat and rectangular...like a box that would contain jewelry. You carefully open the box and there's a little stylized golden sun with diamond accents on a gold chain. "That one's to remind you that your me spot of sunshine every day." His large hand smooths up and down over your back.
“I always want to be, if you’ll have me,” you murmured softly, turning the charm between your thumb and finger. “It’s perfect. Will you help me?” you asked. He took the necklace as you turned and pulled all of your hair to one side. You hadn’t felt this happy in quite awhile…he did all of this for you. He lifted the necklace over your head and you felt his fingers brushing the sensitive skin at the nape of your neck while he fastened the clasp.
"Let me see, darlin'," he said softly. You shift in his lap and turn so he can see the front of you. "Ah, it looks good. Suits ya." His smile was so genuine and warm. Then, tucking a couple of fingers under your chin, he tilted your head up to him leaning in and brushing his lips over yours.

A Billy Butcher Christmas

YOU try celebrating Christmas with Butcher...
Co-written with CheshireCat
*-*-*
Waiting alone in your dark apartment, you wondered what could possibly be keeping Billy so long.
M.M. had texted you that they were wrapping up the stakeout for that Supe they were trying to tie in with a known gun-runner and explosives smuggler. His contact had gotten spooked and never showed.
You stopped pacing and sat down on the couch again with a huff and then a long sigh. Billy was probably in some bar drinking away his anger. You only hoped he didn't start a brawl. "I suppose I should check my first-aid supplies," you griped at the empty room as you got up to check the kit you kept in a cupboard in the bathroom.
On your way back to the living room, you glanced out at the Christmas lights on the houses below your balcony twinkling like multi-colored stars in the dark. "Yeah...Merry Christmas," you said softly, thinking the best gift you could have would be Billy coming home safe and not too badly banged up.
Sighing softly, you went to the kitchen to pour a glass of whiskey. Pulling the bottle down from the top cupboard you tipped a bit of the liquid into your glass and then you poured some more. It was rich and warm on your tongue and burned just the right amount going down. Kind of like Billy.
Turning all the lights down, you went curl up in your favorite chair and just gaze at the lights. Billy would be here soon, and the alcohol helped to calm your worry.
For a bit, you made yourself relax but when you finally heard the keys jingling in the lock you jumped up from the couch, almost spilling your drink.
Damn...you could hear him grumbling and cursing through the door before it even opened. You knew how any perceived failure that amounted to wasting a night without nailing the perps they were after frustrated and angered him. You just hoped the end result wasn't too bad. Well, at least you knew you had plenty of everything to patch him up, if needed.
Setting your glass on the coffee table, you went to the door just as Billy got it open. “Hey,” you murmured. You couldn’t help but scan him head to toe checking for both injuries and his mood. He had a small cut on his temple, but that seemed the extent of his physical ails, at least.
You inwardly breathed a sigh of relief but put on a sympathetic face nonetheless.  "M.M. told me tonight was a bust. What happened?“
You knew it was good to let him grumble a bit and get it off his chest while he actually processed things. As soon as he shrugged out of his coat you took his large hand and pulled him inside leading him to the couch.
Good thing you'd thought to bring the bottle of whiskey and an extra tumbler to the coffee table.
He sat down heavily and looked up at you, dark eyes swirling with emotions but warming and calming a little as he gazed up at you. He poured himself a measure of whiskey and put his strong arm around you when you curled up on the couch beside him, pulling you in against him, tucked into his side.
Happily, you nestled in against him and waited while he gathered his thoughts.
“The cunt never even showed,” he growled. “Worthless piece of shite. I should have known better than to think he would come through. He were only someone Frenchie knew through someone else and M.M only met the fucker once.” He huffed a sigh and took a long drink of the whiskey before setting it aside. “Fucking waste of a whole night.”
“I’m sorry,” you said softly, nestling closer to him and rubbing your hand over his chest. “There’ll be another chance. It’s Christmas Eve, maybe something just threw his plans off.”
Billy turned to look at you. “It’s what?”
"It's...it's Christmas Eve," you said again softly then cleared your throat. You'd told yourself you would not be disappointed if he didn't remember, but you'd still kind of hoped maybe he felt a little of the magic in the air and would want to share that just with you.
You looked over at the little tree you'd bought and his present you'd wrapped last night and tucked under the branches. You knew he didn't have the fondest childhood memories of Christmas and had hoped to maybe make it special for him this year.
You swallowed down your own disappointment. "I just meant he might have family or a girlfriend or something and had a last minute change of plans. We’ll get another chance.”
Billy looked out the window as if he was seeing the Christmas lights for the first time and the expression on his face lightened just a little…
