Mun- I challenge you to write 7 random headcanons about your muse.

Ā Ā Ā Well, I know SOMEONE who will get a kick out of this. @navigatingtruths
1.) Encke does not understand humor if it is not made apparent that what is being said is a joke. Basically you have to shout that youāre being funnyĀ for him to not take it literally.
2.) Encke has only been kissed once in his lifetime when he was a teen. She was a few years older than him and he was enamored by her beauty and how free-spirited she was.
3.) He keeps his motherās badges from when she was his age in a small wooden box next to a lock of her hair saved the last time she got her hair cut and shipped out for war.
4.) Despite his greatest desire to hold Keeler in his arms when heās notĀ having a near-death fit, he canāt even picture the moment it might happen. When he tries, itās always worst-case-scenario.
5.) Encke may or may not enjoy country music if heād ever heard it as well as some pop songs.
6.) He was a privileged colonist so any hardships he endured was of his own choosing (most of the time).
7.) Thanks to Keeler, Encke reads during his down-time in the hopes that theyāll have more in common with each other any time they get the chance to talk.

Encke, do you know what alligators are?
Ā Ā Ā Donāt mind him while he casually avoids the question (and Keeler) altogether so as not to look like an idiot.

So I'm buffing my boots when this guy comes up to me and tells me to go look out the window. Are satellites supposed to come that close?

Ā Ā Ā āCadet, those two sentences were train wrecks from beginning to finish. Should we be worried thereās a satellite all the way out here in Colteron space? Definitely. Report your findings to Commander Cook and Commander Bering. We might have gone way off course.ā

"Would you walk through a portal to another dimension if it meant you get to have five Keelers but you don't know which one was your original?"

Ā Ā Ā āFive of them? I can barely handle one.āĀ

Ā Ā Ā He understands perhaps more than Keeler thinks when the other brings up topics for him to discuss. Divulging his past no matter what it is heās sharing isnāt always as easy as he makes it seem, but if it soothes his partner into restful slumber heād gladly talk about anything.
Ā Ā Ā Settling on the edge of his own bed, he reaches forward to retrieve the hair tie holding Keelerās braid together as messy as itās become, already retrieving a brush to begin the nightly process of helping him settle down.
Ā Ā Ā āThere isnāt much to tell. I was raised on a ship a lot like this one. Barely knew about the colonies until my mother was called away on duty. I was old enough then to be left on my own and she returned me to Mars where I stayed with extended family. My father was killed in the line of duty shortly after I left.ā It hadnāt been the heart wrenching news most would imagine, heād hardly known the man. The Alliance had always come first.
Ā Ā Ā āMy mother grieved heavily, but when her leave was up she left. Took me with her. Thatās when my training began. Small things at first, simple calculations, English, only the basics taught in schools on Earth. Enough to get me by. Failure wasnāt an option. It was straight Aās or...ā Clearing his throat softly, he works slowly on a tangle in the otherās hair, bottom to top just like his mother had instructed him. Minimal damage to that snow white hair.
Ā Ā Ā āWhat about you?ā

Ā Ā Ā Thereās a great many things Encke does know, and for every single one of them, there are two more he knows nothing about when it comes to Keeler. Itās a never-ending round of frustration when he falls into a fit like this and thereās nothing to be done but to wait. Several times heās considered paying a doctor under-the-table to be on call whenever he needs him, giving him the full information regarding his Navigatorās condition and paying him double to keep it between the three of them. But there comes with it a strong risk that theyāll be ousted and Keeler taken from him.
Ā Ā Ā Quietly he meanders about, tucking away dirty laundry into their basket for him to take down to the laundry facilities once Keeler is properly asleep and stable. The question makes him pause, but only for a minute before he grunts.
Ā Ā Ā āOnce I know youāll be fine, Iāll get some sleep.ā
āI wasnāt faking it.ā His Fighter has a way of making him feel irresponsible and childish, and his gaze slides away guiltily, smile slipping away as well. Thankfully itās late enough most Fighters are in their bunks while Navigators will be wrapping up the final hour of their shift; few, if any, sets of eyes find them. Keeler wouldnāt notice either way as the rocking motion has encouraged his eyes to fall shut to deter nausea.

āMm.ā When heās set down, he shifts so he can sit back against the headboard and watch Encke move about the room, brows drawn in silently. Opening his water, expression smoothing out to neutral with a dash of heat exhaustion. āYou donāt need to do that. This is a normal episode.ā

Ā Ā Ā āDonāt toy with me, Keeler. I know better.ā Breathing out, he tidies the room and fetches the medicine, setting the bottle beside the other and huffing. If Keelerās going to keep at this, heāll just have to be extra diligent.
Ā Ā Ā āPlease just rest. Iāll be right here.ā

Ā Ā Ā āHow long do you plan to fakeĀ being okay?ā He has had more than enough lying about this to last seven lifetimes. Heāll just carry him all the way back to the room and lay him down in hisĀ bed rather than Keelerās own, fetching a bottle of water from their mini fridge to hand over.
Ā Ā Ā āTake some pain medicine and get some rest. Iāll watch over you.ā

Ā Ā Ā Encke doesnāt let him get very far, patience in his stern gaze when the man rises and heās gliding forward to hook an arm at the bend of Keelerās knees, one arm ready to catch him when he falls. He lifts the man easily and tucks him to his chest before heading for the door.
Ā Ā Ā āDo I need to come fetch you every night to make sure youāre sleeping properly?āĀ

Ā Ā Ā Keeler hasnāt returned to their room yet, and Encke has a feeling he knows just where to find him. Sure enough, Keelerās stationed in his office looking like death warmed over so Encke intervenes, closing in behind him to gently take those arms and nudge him back against the back of his seat.
Ā Ā Ā āHey, why donāt you come to bed?ā
