❝ stop talking to me like i’m a child. ❞ // Padawan Anakin to Obi-Wan ~age 16
[@ourstoriesunfold]
Obi-Wan growled gently in frustration, rounding back on his Padawan and shaking his head just so. "If you do not wish for me to continue to speak to you as though you were a child, then I highly recommend you stop behaving like one." The last few words held more anger than the elder man would care to admit, and immediately after speaking he found himself having to take a deep and calming breath in order to prevent raising his voice.
Was this how you felt, training me at this age, Master? Was I this frustrated with you when you refused my Trials three times in a row? Were you correct in your restrictions, and is the Council correct in restricting Anakin's now? Am I?
The thoughts dissolved into the Force in tandem with Obi-Wan's steadying breath, but he expected no response from his former Master. He'd never gotten one and in truth he had no proof of the retention of self after death; but the idea that someday he may might, well--- it gave him hope, and hope was far more important to him than tangible proof.
"Stop attempting to manufacture success where success would otherwise be inevitable or you will surely fail. The Force will always keep the balance, Anakin. The Light will always prevail. You must find peace in that certainty, even if you cannot see the outcome from the start. You must have faith, Padawan."
As he spoke he made his way closer to the center of the circle once more, coming to a stop a meter away and taking up a defensive stance as he spun the hilt of his sparring saber like a baton. The energy crackled and whirred as he did so and he finished the display with an irreverent grin, knowing how much it would irritate his Padawan and using it as an opportunity for the teenager to control his temper.
"Again..."

❝ i just…i just want her to be safe. ❞ // Anakin to Obi-Wan if he had actually confided in him in RotS
[@ourstoriesunfold]
Obi-Wan's shoulders fell just slightly, using every ounce of strength left within him to prevent his expression from betraying just how deeply he felt that same sentiment. He felt a deep aching within his chest, and he knew that even though his expression remained neutral and calm, his eyes would still betray him all the same. They were watery and filled with every desire he had to help his former Padawan. But what could be done?
A vague nightmarish vision of Senator Amidala dying painfully in childbirth did not lend itself to a puzzle solved easily, at least not beyond contacting the medical bay within the Senate and admitting her until labor approached. He did not think the Senator would be willing to sequester herself within the confines of the medical bay itself, let alone acquiesce to remaining bedridden.
Sighing gently, Obi-Wan allowed his expression to soften just a touch before placing a hand on Anakin's shoulder. His Force signature was guarded and their connection through it was silent, avoiding any accidental transfers of thoughts, feelings or images. It was commonplace to do so out of courtesy once the War had begun and the Jedi had become soldiers rather than peacekeepers.
"I know. But your vision did not specify where nor when this may take place. Apart from having the Senator forcibly detained in the Senatorial hospital wing or monitored twenty-four hours a day, I am afraid there is little we might actually do…" he said sincerely, emphasizing it just a little with a squeeze to the other man's shoulder.
Pale eyes surveyed the area carefully before moving back to the younger man, satisfied that they were alone, voice lowering as he continued to speak. "This is a very delicate situation, Anakin. We cannot allow such attachments to determine our behaviors. We cannot use the Force for personal gain, it is a direct path to the Dark Side…"
He trailed off as footsteps began to approach, staying silent and retrieving his hand from Anakin's shoulder in order to stand a bit straighter as the footsteps gained ground. As the source of the sound passed by them-- one of the Temple's guards --Obi-Wan smiled politely with a nod of his head, waiting until the footsteps faded again before turning back to look at Anakin directly.
"If we help her, if I allow this to be brought before the Council-- it must be solely because she is a member of the Senate of the Galactic Republic and for no other reason. You will not be in the Council's Chambers when it is discussed and you will accept the ruling without contestation, even if they refuse. Do you understand?"

❝ i am what you made me. ❞ // Vader to Palpatine
[@ourstoriesunfold]
"No," the Emperor growled sharply, and the word echoed through the chamber as though he'd shouted it, "-- you are the reconstruction of Anakin Skywalker's fear and the metamorphosis of Anakin Skywalker's hate."
The throne that the Emperor was currently sitting upon slowly revolved, allowing him to face his apprentice properly as he spoke, looking down at the masked man with an expression that bled disdain.
"You are the masterpiece of his weaknesses-- the coalescence of his worst nightmares," he hissed as the air around them shuddered with energy, his left index finger lifting just slightly as he reached into the space between molecules, Dark energy coiling around the young man's throat beneath the metal armor and tightening just so. "He has made you what you are-- and only I can help you to overcome it."

When Ahsoka's eyes moved to acknowledge the bottle, Obi-Wan felt a swoop of guilt and shame low in his stomach, causing his fingers to twitch with the sudden urge to throw it. He instead took a deep breath, holding it for a few seconds as the young togruta began to stretch her limbs and prepare to rest as he'd instructed hours previous. It had always taken such convincing to get her to rest properly, even in the midst of a warzone.
Obi-Wan felt the darkness shudder, and quickly pushed the memories of the War from his mind as much as his overly active imagination would allow for. Thankfully the efforts of suppression did not show on his face, and he gave her a slight nod and a small smile as she got herself comfortable. It felt almost healing to watch her, alive and so very familiar to him, even though all she was doing was laying down for a bit of rest.
''I do not believe anyone enjoys surprises much, these days," he said, his tone unreadable as he tore his eyes away from Ahsoka and leaned his head back against the wall, letting his eyes slide shut once more. He listened as her breathing began to deepen and slow, knowing the precise moment when she fell into sleep due to keen senses and over-intoxication.
He waited nearly an hour after the young togruta had fallen asleep before he decided that standing would not wake her, careful not to jostle anything too much as he brought himself to his feet.
Swaying just a bit, Obi-Wan grabbed the bottle of spiced-wine and took it over to his makeshift washbowl, sitting it inside of the bowl upside down and letting the rest of the spiced-wine bleed into the washwater. He knew he would likely be returning to the trade market within the next day or two, but the symbolism of watching the contents be ruined by the water made him feel almost peaceful.
Once he was finished, he turned back toward the sleeping area, removing his tunic as he did so and laying it on the stone beside the bed Ahsoka was currently inhabiting. Then he got comfortable himself, tying his hair up with a leather band before closing his eyes and hoping the darkness would not come for him in his dreams.
Ahsoka raised a brow in response to his reply of 'twenty-seven minutes'. At his insistence that he would be fine, she simply rolled her eyes. "Alright," she responded, raising her hands in acceptance. "I'll take your word for it, just..." She glanced over at the now-mostly-empty bottle and then back up to his eyes. The togruta tilted her head wordlessly and gave him a half-smile, but didn't say anything. Hopefully, they both knew what she was thinking.
Stretching gingerly, Ahsoka groaned and shifted to lay down on the bed, tucking her legs slightly to accommodate the space Obi-Wan himself still occupied. "Wake me if anything comes up," she said, her voice a touch more serious. "I don't enjoy being taken by surprise..." A wry smile touched her lips at that and she wasn't quite able to fight off the yawn that followed. Settling in, with a hand resting over the comforting solid weight of her lightsabers under her tunic, she fell quickly into a dreamless sleep borne of exhaustion and relief.

The Chancellor had, for the most part, enjoyed the evening as much as could be expected.
He made every ounce of small talk that he was required to and had much more in depth conversations with those he viewed as potential allies or potential threats to the Republic and his vision of the future. The Jedi had not been as big of a threat as he suspected, with Master Jinn and his Padawan unable to get more than a greeting and friendly quip into the conversation before another group interrupted and flocked to say hello to the mysterious Jedi. Even their Grand Master, Yoda, had kept his distance- although that was not uncommon.
All together it had been a positive experience, especially once he'd caught sight of his adopted son standing at the newly appointed Senator Amidala's side, doing exactly as he had promised.
More, if the Chancellor considered all of the conversations that the boy was likely to have been present for or even a part of. He sincerely hoped the boy had kept his wits about him, though he did trust him enough that when the boy and the Senator seemed to disappear from the gathering, the Chancellor did not attempt to seek them out.
He knew the both of them well enough to know that from that night on they would likely be inseparable, at least while the Senator was still on Coruscant. But should she have to return to Naboo… The idea gave him hope afresh as he excused himself from the current conversation in order to send a private transmission to one of his allies from one of the secure and private meeting rooms.
Tumblr media
Padmé was very thankful that, apart from the Chancellor's soiree to welcome her into the Senate, she was all but done with such large and drawn out social gatherings. Watching what one said, how one behaved, even how one smiled-- it was exhausting.
It had been hours of talking, joking and being all together as pleasant and as diplomatic as possible when meeting her new peers. Anakin had done a wonderful job keeping up with the conversations and hadn't faltered once, though he did manage to find himself a bit tipsy by the end of the night.
She hadn't said anything, but she'd noticed that every time she took a drink he would as well, almost as if he were trying to prove to her how grown up he was. She'd even noticed him staring a few times and he'd been blushing throughout the night every time their eyes happened to meet. Padmé thought his obvious interest was amusing and she found herself smiling often and genuinely getting to know him.
It was strange, but by the time Padmé was cleverly leading a tipsy Anakin away from the party to give him a tour of her new office, she could swear they had become true friends. In fact, she was a bit tipsy herself but had the years behind her to know how to handle it.
Mostly.
She giggled a bit too much as he tumbled onto the sofa, and she attempted her very best posture when sitting across from him in one of the armchairs. Her face was flushed pink, and she was giggling softly as she attempted to straighten out her face into a more serious expression as he spoke. She was, after all, the 'grown up' in the room.
"Oh, you can, can you?" She asked of his comment about arranging something, her voice shivering with amusement and her eyes lit from behind with it. "And what would you arrange for me, Ani? What more could a Senator possibly need that isn't here already?"

Obi-Wan smiled warmly at the boy as he let out an overly dramatic noise of protestation, shaking his head just a bit and wondering how on Coruscant he was meant to make the lessons more interesting to a child who had not been brought up in the Temple.
It was met with fluidity when it came to the rest of the younglings and Padawans-- simply way of life, to learn the Force and commune in ways that one might find boring or useless.
In reality, communion with the Force was the very thing that kept the heart of the Galaxy beating.
"What are you going to be doing while I'm…"
"I am going to take care of you," he said kindly, reaching out to press the back of his hand against the boy's forehead. His fever was already starting to abate, but it was likely he would not be ready for proper lessons for at least the next forty-eight hours. He smirked as he withdrew his hand. "I'll have to leave in order to attend a meeting in a few hours but apart from that, you are stuck with me."
Anakin let out the obligatory and expected groan at the mention of more lessons, but in honesty, compared to how he felt now, he would gladly have chosen even one of Obi-Wan's most boring lectures.
After a moment, he gave his Master a tentative smile. "Thank you, Master," he mumbled quietly, breaking his eyes away and down as he fidgeted his hands nervously. "I will try to remember that things are... different now..." His brow creased slightly at that but then he shook his head, seeming to dismiss whatever thought had occurred.
Turning back to his Master, he gave the man a questioning look. "What are you going to be doing while I'm..." he gestured generally at his surroundings rather than finishing the question properly.

As Ahsoka moved away, now relaxed whereas before she had been tensed and prepared for another bout of his anger, Obi-Wan let his hand fall back to his side slowly. He did not reach for the bottle again, but instead mirrored her movements and leaned himself back against the wall once more with his eyes closed.
It was safer, perhaps, than the prolonged eye contact they'd been keeping moments ago-- it wouldn't cause him to say or do anything he might regret when the darkness inevitably decided to creep out from wherever it was it had gone when she'd brushed his hair away from his face.
His chest tightened at the memory, and he let out a breathless chuckle to cover the emotion hidden behind the clearing of his throat. "I have," he confirmed, pausing a moment before letting out a soft sigh. "Nearly twenty-seven whole minutes, if my calculations are correct."
Pale eyes opened and moved to look at her, the ghost of a sad smile appearing. She had grown so much since the last time they'd seen one another-- a grown woman now, with her own battle scars and night terrors.
"Honestly, who needs more than twenty-seven minutes?" He asked, and the question was punctuated by a rather large yawn. "I'll be fine, Ahsoka. It is you who needs to rest."
Ahsoka let out a breath that she hadn't realized she'd been holding when he said her name. In spite of the gentleness she had offered, she had been tensed, preparing for the Dark to rear up once more in her one-time friend and mentor. Looking into his eyes, she saw the barest spark of something there. Perhaps hope, perhaps desperation. In either case, he wasn't beaten. Not yet. That's what mattered to her.
She stiffened slightly as he touched her lekku, but as he inspected the bandages with light fingers, she relaxed gradually. At his comment, she gave a wry chuckle. "Wasn't even an Inquisitor," she groaned with a roll of her eyes. "Just a lucky scumbag... well... I'm not sure if lucky is the right word..." she finished with a grimace, remembering how she had left the being.
Ahsoka allowed Obi-Wan's fingers to linger on her lekku for a moment longer before drawing away from him, leaning back against the cave wall once more. Closing her eyes, she suppressed a groan. Perhaps she should take his advice and rest a bit longer. Now that she wasn't poking at his anger any longer she was beginning to realize how bone-weary she was.
"Have you slept at all since I got here?" she asked after a moment. She presumed not given how he had been sleeping sitting up at her side when she had woken.

The young togruta still did not understand, and it pained Obi-Wan deeply to know that she may never truly know what he had gone through. Truth be told, if it took experiencing it to fully comprehend the depths to which he had been shattered, well-- Obi-Wan would rather Ahsoka remain blissfully and morally ignorant.
No one deserved such torment. No one deserved such torture.
As the silence lingered, Obi-Wan found a small comfort in it. He did not have to think or feel, he simply had to exist alongside someone. His eyes slipped shut, head resting back against the stone wall much as the counterpart next to him had done moments before, and in the silence he contemplated. His future, his past, his immediate present.
Would he be able to be any sort of man that could carry the weight that Ahsoka was asking of him? Could the Light soak into him as before, without consuming him completely?
By the time he heard the young togruta breath inward in preparation of speech, he had emptied the bottle. It hadn't been entirely full in the first place. Her words did not surprise him, but the cool touch of skin to skin certainly did. His eyes flew open and turned toward her immediately, the spark left behind on his skin radiation through it and feeling almost like communion. It caused something inside of him to twist and shudder, and he wasn't sure if he enjoyed the feeling or detested it.
Obi-Wan sat the bottle aside, not even having heard her last comment about breaking his more addictive habits. Rather, he was looking at her as if he might want to say something but had no idea how to put it into words. His eyes spoke volumes, though-- pale and clear and, for the first time since she'd woken up, lit from behind with something other than the infinite Dark.
"Ahsoka..." He began, unsure where to go apart from simply her name. It hurt, immensely so, for her to see him in such a state and he pondered for a moment if he shouldn't have called a medical droid to care for her instead. Silently, he reached up and trailed his fingers gently along the lower half of her lekku, careful not to jostle the bandage as he inspected it, eyes following the movements of his fingertips. When he spoke again, his voice did not carry quite as much grit around the edges.
"You're very lucky to be alive, young one," he said with a soft voice and a warm sentiment- and this time it was genuine, not hollow or uncanny as it had been before.
Ahsoka was still and silent as Obi-Wan spoke, not wanting to do or say anything that might provoke a reaction from the man. Once he had finished, she remained silent for several more moments, mulling over what he had said. She wanted to say that she hadn't said anything about mind tricks. She wanted to demand what was so hard about simply taking the boy and disappearing to any number of other secluded planets in the Outer Rim to live anonymously as they trained. But in truth, what he had or hadn't done in regards to Luke in the past didn't matter. This was what the situation was. What was she going to change about it?
Sighing, she closed her eyes and let her head rest back against the wall once more. She had faced three Inquisitors since joining the Rebellion-- after liberating her kyber crystals from the first. None had survived. It wasn't something she relished, but it also wasn't something she dwelt on. It had been necessary. It had been self-defense. Add to that the fact that the Inquisitors toyed with their Jedi prey and pushed them toward the Dark if they caught even the barest glimpse of an opening...
The combination of factors was enough to make even the best Jedi falter- fail- fall... Many did. Many had. Every Inquisitor she managed to cut down was replaced by two more as they captured and converted those who were still malleable enough to turn. In many ways, Ahsoka supposed she should consider herself fortunate that hadn't been Obi-Wan's fate. Looking at the man... she agreed, he wouldn't have survived another Inquisitor encounter. Not in his state.
Finally, she opened her eyes once more and looked over at him. "I'm not asking you to be that man again," she said gently. "But- Things aren't just black and white- Dark and Light..." She shook her head. "You don't have to drown in the darkness, Obi-Wan. Strive for the Light. Try to land somewhere in the grey..."
Her face softened and she reached out, almost thoughtlessly, and brushed a lock of his hair away from his forehead, cool fingers brushing against fevered flesh. "Also, you really should stop drinking that," she added calmly, nodding to the bottle. "It would probably help..."

Obi-Wan's fingers twitched against the neck of the bottle as he fought to control the displeasure and provocative anger that had begun to wail and bellow within. The swirling chaos radiated through his bloodstream and caused his very bones to ache, jaw clenching against the stinging desire to react rather than respond.
It was far too easy to yield to the emotions that he'd been so vigilant over before; far too easy to surrender to the undulating black than to turn and reconcile himself with the blinding, celestial light.
He missed that light dearly, so much so that it was perhaps the only thing keeping his urge to cause harm at bay. Ahsoka represented that light, and while he did feel the immediate and placating effect the light had he also felt himself looking away from it. He did not want to meet her eyes. He did not want to see her disappointment.
"Is it that easy, I wonder?" He questioned, his tone lingering with bitterness as his long and unkempt hair obscured the profile of his face. "Mind tricks do not work on those with the will enough to withstand it, Ahsoka. Owen's mind is far more formidable than one might assume." He lifted the bottle to his lips again, muttering, "Apparently his memories of the boy were far too strong to be manipulated," into the mouth of it just before taking another slug in hopes it would ebb the transformation of embers to inferno.
It did not.
"Each time his memories came back he would inform the Empire that he'd witnessed or heard something of a suspicious nature. He was never specific, he merely wanted to garner the Empire's attention." He let out a humorless laugh that was just as bitter as his tone had been. "And he did. I could not risk a fourth attempt after the third nearly cost me my life. Did cost me my life, in various ways." His voice lowered, and the ache he felt within bled into the tone of it until he was sure the togruta would feel it within the Force.
"What happened between myself and that Inquisitor changed me, Ahsoka. I am not the same man I once was, and I fear I-- may never be that man again."
Ahsoka had to bite down hard on her lip to suppress the immediate retort that she knew she would have regretted -- for more than one reason. When the initial wave of fight passed, she let out a breath and she shifted her weight on the bed, unsure if she should move further away from him or get closer.
"We all failed Anakin," she said finally in a soft tone. She brought a hand up to rest her fingers on his shoulder, her touch feather-light. "It wasn't all on you, Obi-Wan. You can't carry it all."
Making up her mind, she did move closer, sitting beside him once more, her shoulder brushing against his arm. "I walked away from him..." she murmured, her voice rough. Even after all these years, the day she had walked down the steps of the Jedi Temple for the last time was still burned in her memory -- as was the look on Anakin's face as she had done so. He had all but begged her to stay, and she hadn't-- She couldn't have. Even now she couldn't bring herself to regret it. It had probably been one of the only reasons she was able to survive Order 66 -- except, of course, Rex's warning and subsequent assistance.
Sighing, she shook her head and glanced over at him. "But the past is behind us," she said gently but firmly. "And I'm sorry, but I don't see how what you're doing right now is serving... anyone. Least of all Luke..." She pressed her lips together and silently implored him to hear what she was saying.
"If the goal is for him to eventually stand against- the Empire... shouldn't he already be preparing for it? You're worried about failing him? Don't. The only way you fail him is by doing nothing. And before you say you did try, again, remember that you used to be a Jedi Master, and Owen Lars is a moisture farmer on the planet Tatooine. If you wanted to get Luke back, you would have." She paused. "Without hurting the man," she added pointedly as the only acknowledgement of the Dark side surges she was feeling from him sporadically.

As the Chancellor and the boy made their way through the small landing area surrounding the lifts and into the reception hall itself he could feel the boy's righteous anger for the Jedi transform into something much more pleasant. Following the boy's eyeline he could see immediately the source of the new fixation, the excitement and nervousness welling up inside of his adopted son-- Padme Amidala, newly appointed Senator and the very reason for the political soiree he was throwing.
He was pleased to see that the Senator was already enjoying the guests, at least those who had taken the time to move over to her without provocation.
The Chancellor watch the group closely as he and Anakin made their approach, pale gaze shifting over each of them in turn, including the two Handmaids who had chosen to accompany her-- Dormé and Cordé. He would have to see to it that the numbers of those Handmaids dwindled over time, as they were far too convincing for the Chancellor's taste.
While true that he had known Padmé since her early childhood as a result of having worked closely with her father, he still found himself unable to differentiate between herself and the various Handmaids that had insisted upon remaining in her service even after her time as Queen had come to an end.
He speculated for a moment or two the ways in which they might have convinced her, and to what capacity--- after all, it might prove useful in the future to know how to persuade one's potential adversary into becoming an ally. Padmé was young, sharp and unwilling to bend on her righteous sense of justice. It would be a thorn in his side, he was sure. As they approached the group of Senators, aids and security detail he could feel the shift in the atmosphere and was pleased that it was a positive one. The silence was not due to fear or concern, but rather respect.
Smiling brightly, he reached out his hand in greeting to the new Senator and bowed his head slightly as their hands joined. "Senator Amidala," He said slowly and with a great, friendly purpose, "-what a pleasure to have you on Coruscant again. Your presence in the Senate is most welcome." He said, his tone peculiarly light and filled with ease. Gesturing to the boy standing next to him, he continued, "I trust you remember my son, Anakin."
The Senator smiled as well, but the gesture was radiant, warm and welcoming. It caused the Chancellor's insides to itch, though he did not let that show.
"Hello, Chancellor. It's good to be back on Coruscant again," she said, before moving her gaze from the elder man to the young boy as the Chancellor spoke of him. Instantly her dark eyes flashed with recognition, and the Chancellor's smile grew.
"Ani? Oh, surely you must have grown at least half a meter since I saw you last," she said, sounding nearly impressed. Honestly, the Chancellor himself had seen it happen almost overnight and had commented much the same thing to the boy the year previous.
The newly appointed Senator moved forward through the small circle of her fellow Senators, gaining a few amused looks that the Chancellor took note of.
Senator Amidala then bent at the knee and waist, squatting down and making sure her modesty remained in tact by smoothing out her skirt. The Chancellor found himself having to bite the inside of his cheek in order to avoid sneering outwardly this time, watching the Senator speaking to Anakin on his own level-- something that he himself, as the boy's adoptive father, had never thought to do.
He would do so though, henceforth. It seemed effective.
"How are you liking Coruscant, Ani?" the Senator asked the boy, still smiling as she reached out to fix the mop of blonde atop the boy's head. "I'm sure it's very different from what you're used to."
As the new Senator spoke to his adopted son, the Chancellor turned his attention to the guests surrounding them in order to begin greeting them with hushed tones and a shake of the hand. In the process, he began to gently and slowly guide the group away from the young Senator and his ward, giving them a bit more privacy to speak freely if they wished.

Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow at the boy's refusal of a hoverchair and knew, given the determined look on his face, that it would not do either of them any good to argue the point. He gave a nod of acknowledgement as they exited the medical bay, and at the boy's comment about laying down he let out an amused huff.
"There will be plenty of time to lie down once we return you safely to your quarters, Padawan," he said softly, keeping his pace carefully matched with Anakin's just in case the lack of hoverchair proved a mistake after all.
As it was, the closer they got to their adjoining quarters, the weaker the boy seemed to become and by the time they neared the appropriate door Obi-Wan found himself supporting the boy's weight considerably.
The next time his Padawan was ill he would insist on the hoverchair if only to save him from the minor anxieties of wondering when and if the boy would collapse completely. Every single experience with his Padawan was entirely new and unfamiliar, without any protocol in place.
How does one raise a child without becoming a parental figure, and would becoming one be more or less beneficial for the boy?
Obi-Wan knelt down as the boy laid himself out on his sleeping mat, groaning in pain and causing Obi-Wan's brow to crease. It seemed the fever was truly taking over, and the elder man could nearly feel the projection of absolute misery within the Force. It rippled and shuddered around them like insects.
"I do not imagine you ever have," he agreed, lowering himself into a seated position next to the boy's sleeping mat. "This strain of the common cold is not quite so common in the Outer Rim, I'm afraid. But I assure you that if you rest and take your medication properly, you should feel much better by tomorrow. Just in time for more lessons, hm?" He said teasingly, chuckling a little as he smirked down at the boy.
The boy shook his head and waved off the offer of a hoverchair. "I'll be fine, Master," he insisted, forcing a smile for the older man as they turned toward the doors to the med bay once more. "Though I do agree that laying down sounds... nice right now," he admitted with a wry smile.
To his credit, Anakin did manage to make it most of the way to the temple living quarters without much assistance. However, by the time they had made it back to the pair of adjoining rooms that constituted his and Obi-Wan's temporary quarters, he was leaning heavily on his master, sweat dripping from his brow.
Anakin collapsed onto his sleeping mat and groaned softly, burying his face in the cushioned surface as he waited for the room to stop spinning. Once he had recovered, he rolled onto his back covering his eyes with his forearm. Now that he was laying down and in the privacy of his own room, Anakin felt the full weight of his illness. It was miserable.
"Don't think I ever felt like this on Tatooine," he groaned softly, lifting his arm and squinting up at Obi-Wan.

don’t want to make things too easy for you.
you of all people should know, there’s nothing so cruel as memory.
sometimes you need to brace yourself for disappointment.
your presence creates these animals.
you know there’s only one way to stop me.
you’re right, i think i chipped a nail back there.
do they even have manners where he comes from?
i know you don’t feel like answering me, it’s the only way to catch who did this.
that doesn’t sound good.
this is not a time for negotiation.
oh you’re getting too predictable.
that loser didn’t stand a chance.
i thought you were dead.
you know, you almost had me scared back there!
today is not a good day to push me.
it’s sad, really. makes me feel like you don’t care to see the good side of me.
i am sorry i doubted you.
it’s what you taught me, do the right thing, that’s all that matters.
hold still, you wanker!
ooh, aren’t you scary.
you married because you were scared of dying alone.
figured you could use my help.
you’re afraid of being forgotten—and you will be forgotten.
no hostages. no surrender.
well, as you can see, no one is untouchable.
listen to me carefully, when they open the door, do not panic. stay close to me.
i’d like to thank my fans for their undying support.
i was determined to prove him wrong.
i learn from my mistakes, do you?
you ever wonder if you’re the reason this city’s so messed up?
you’re not going anywhere, old man.
i think you’re so busy playing hero you’ve forgotten what it’s like for the rest of us.
you’re old, you’re predictable, and you never stood a chance.
now look at what you’ve done!
i’m coming for you.
can i get you anything?
tell me, what are you really scared of?
please don’t hurt me.
answers don’t give you everlasting satisfaction
does that outfit help bury your feelings, hiding your true self?
i’m done taking orders from you.
i’ll let you help me find my socks if you keep this up.
by my count, there are still nine more ribs i can break.
we need to talk.
no one’s who you think they are.
as you can see, i’m looking much better.
i have a question for you.
what a blabbermouth! spoiling the surprise!
me? it was your plan, ya goofy clown!
oh, isn’t that cute?
who do you see when you look at me?
what happened? you used to put up a fight.
it’s this city, there’s something wrong with it.
how can you even joke about that?
you’ve never let me capture you this easily.
be quiet.
am i getting to you?
i’ve seen worse.
you will bring death to all who follow you.
what a pretty name.
there’s nothing wrong with you.
who do you think you’re talking to?
even after everything you’ve done, i would have saved you.
i don’t want to work with you.
how many lives will you destroy in pursuit of what you call justice?
i’m sorry about that.
he’s no better than the creep who killed your parents.
you are the product of everything you fear.
if you’re caught in that blast, you will die!
by the end of tonight, i will be a hero. just like you.
that’s much nicer.
like my new uniform? it’s hot right?
you can’t beat me this time.
ooh, that’s gotta hurt!
i still have a trick or two up my sleeve.
that’s what i like about you.
you need to learn to shut up.
nicely done! you deserve a prize!
why fight it?
i want you dead.
you’ve been a good friend.
i have nothing left to live for.
i’ve got your scent.
do not lie to me.
what are you talking about?
stop me once and for all!
wee! great night for a party.
you need us just as much as we need you.
oh, this is beautiful!
there’s plenty wrong with me.
you’re better than this.
you won’t get away with this!
can’t wait to return the favor.
you might learn that we’re not so different.
i’ll always be here to stop you.
you want to know what i want now?
now you want to talk?
you are in my world now.
if you try to stop me, i guarantee everyone will know your secret.
i will not in good conscience allow you to go.
we’re going to have some fun now!
i’m surprised he didn’t kill you.
every decision you’ve ever made ends with death and misery.
i may never get the chance to tell you this.
you’re ruining my big night!
it’s been a long rivalry, but this is the only way it could end.
i was wondering what would break first—your spirit, or your body.
i eat punks like these for breakfast.
you are beginning to impress me.
i want answers, damn it!
is that it then? we’re not as good as you?
that reminds me, i really need to get some new shoes.
what have i got to be afraid of?!
my father hated me, he always called me a moron.
that’s not fair!
you really should learn to keep that fat mouth of yours shut.
do you want to know something funny?
you seem distressed, anything you could use my help with?
why spoil the fun?
you took longer than i expected.
don’t ever try to get in my head again.
i just need to ask you some questions.
you don’t have anything to offer.
this old man looks like he’s gonna pee himself!
let’s see if you can keep up with me!
you just can’t get through your thick skull!
take a seat in my office.
having a little trouble up there?
gotta say, i thought you’d last longer.
i guess learning is a lot to ask from you, meat-for-brains.
i feel i should thank you.
you are in over your head and i don’t want this to be your end.
i think i’m looking better than ever.
i’m fine.
gotta go! i’ve got a party to arrange.
sorry to disappoint you, it’s just little ol’ me.
do you think i’m taking advice from some guy who’s never even been in a fight?
i thought i told you to stay quiet!
it will be my legacy.
we have much to discuss.
you okay?
seeing as how i’m feeling generous, i’ll give you this one for free!
do you know what i’m thinking right now?
have you ever considered that all this is your fault?
you are all experiencing fear in anticipation of some specific pain or danger.
are you cheating?
you had to spoil everything, didn’t you?
i’m here to help you.
this place is dangerous… i like it!
what the hell is happening down there?
you’ll never beat me.
we’re not all as strong as you.
do you hear that? sounds like eight tiny reindeer.
all your sacrifices and yet you are the one to blame!
is your mind playing tricks on you… or am i?
why should i care?
so we both die. i’m fine with that.
without fear, life is meaningless!
you are a truly extraordinary specimen.
i’ve trained my mind to feel no pain.
you ever wonder how things got to be so bad here?
was that the answer you wanted?
i want what i paid for.
you’re dead and buried, darling.
lighten up. i’m just messing with ya.
i’m gonna enjoy teaching you some manners!
i didn’t need your help.
you’re not a hero. you’re a despot.
come on, kid, this way.
see, you can be nice.
i can take anything you throw at me.
what the hell are you supposed to be?
oh, i don’t have a lot of friends.
you’re not safe here.
are you happy now?
since when have you been all about reading, anyway?
you’ve become what you’ve always fought against.
i look forward to breaking you.
you’ve gotten so used to the power, you think you’re better than everyone.
let’s start the party with a bang!
you’re as crazy as the rest of us.

🐝  *  ―  𝑰𝑻'𝑺 𝑵𝑶𝑻 𝑨 𝑷𝑯𝑨𝑺𝑬, 𝑴𝑶𝑴. ( a random assortment of various lyrics from emo songs. feel free to change pronouns if needed. )
❛  i know you well enough to know you never loved me.  ❜ ❛  i am finished with you.  ❜ ❛  you were the last good thing about this part of town.  ❜ ❛  so don't go worrying about me, it's not like i think about you constantly.  ❜ ❛  do you feel like a man when you push her around? do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?  ❜ ❛  take back everything you ever said, you never meant a word for it.  ❜ ❛  i'm glad i didn't die before i met you.  ❜ ❛  say anything, but say what you mean.  ❜ ❛  what the hell is wrong with me? my friends say i should act my age.  ❜ ❛  it's no surprise to me, i am my own worst enemy.  ❜ ❛  i'm sick of the things i do when i'm nervous, like cleaning the oven or checking my tires or counting the number of tiles on the ceiling.  ❜ ❛  well, you treat me just like another stranger.  ❜ ❛  but i don't wanna feel a thing anymore.  ❜ ❛  doesn't it feel like your time is running out?  ❜ ❛  i don't blame you for being you but you can't blame me for hating it.  ❜ ❛  and up until now, i have sworn to myself that i'm content with loneliness.  ❜ ❛  i'll keep you my dirty little secret. don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret.  ❜ ❛  and all the times you promised me that everything would work out in the end, you were gravely mistaken.  ❜ ❛  thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great.  ❜ ❛  i never thought we'd make it out alive.  ❜ ❛  i know somewhere, somehow we'll be together.  ❜ ❛  honestly? honestly, i can't remember all my teenage feelings. and the meanings.  ❜ ❛  the more i try, the more i lose.  ❜ ❛  why can't i feel anything from anyone other than you?  ❜ ❛  second chances they don't ever matter, people never change.  ❜ ❛  and the hardest part is letting go of the nights we shared.  ❜ ❛  you contradict the fact that you still want me around.  ❜ ❛  don't ever look back. they'll tear us apart if you give them the chance.  ❜ ❛  you don't know what it's like to be like me.  ❜ ❛  i kept my word when i swore that i would let you down.  ❜ ❛  so let's just pretend everything and anything between you and me was never meant.  ❜ ❛  and i fell for the promise of a life with purpose. but i know that's impossible now.  ❜ ❛  glad the future didn't fail you like it failed me.  ❜ ❛  but i wish that i'd never met a lot of the people that i've met. not because i don't like them but because i only let them down.  ❜ ❛  don't waste your time on me, you're already the voice inside my head.  ❜ ❛  can we pretend to leave and then we'll meet again.  ❜ ❛  let's just forget everything we said and everything we did.  ❜ ❛  i don't want to waste my time, become another casualty of society.  ❜ ❛  so i told her i loved her, and she told me she loved me. and i mostly believed her and she mostly believed me.  ❜ ❛  the truth is you could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath i'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt.  ❜
