"at least let me help with putting some of the stuff away" Arlo insisted right back. "I'll even stick to the the areas I don't have to bend down or get on my toes to reach."
who: bunny and arlo / @endlessreruns
where: their apartment
"i'd really rather you sat down instead of trying to help me with this," bunny insists, stopping in her path from carrying the groceries from the front door to the kitchen. "please. i know you want to help, and i appreciate it, really, but a lot of this is just too heavy."

"I don't - why?" he asked, not sure why he was suddenly being asked truth or dare. Were they playing? "Truth?" it came out with a sense of uncertainty unsure if that was the one they were supposed to pick.
@endlessreruns / closed starter / jeremy marsh setting: the commune
Lying on her back, Winnie tossed a small rubber ball up toward the ceiling and back down again before letting out a loud groan. "If I don't get to do something actually fun in the next hour, I may actually explode," she said, turning her head toward Jeremy. "You-- Jeremy, right? Truth or dare."

"oh hey" Eagan said looking over as Chandler approached. "I had to go return some books to the library for this old lady at the end of our street earlier." That had been the extent to her scheduled plans for the day. "I'm not sure what else I'm gonna do today you doing things or whatever"

Chandler had made a few friends since moving to town, but she tended to gravitate towards Eagan most. Maybe it was because they felt like someone who was more real than most things in this town, but as soon as she'd spotted them, she was already making a beeline in that direction.
"Well well, if it isn't my favorite assumed Irish human," she was about to link arms with her, but stopped. She didn't actually know if they were those kind of friends. "Whatchya up to today?"

"Always" Arlo gave a nod as he looked over at her. "I swear I usually come out of here with at least five books each visit." he added on, there were already two books he was holding onto that emphasized the point.
@endlessreruns / closed starter / arlo demont setting: the library
Rosalie needed to escape for a little while, easily leading her to the library to pick up something new. As much as she loved what the book club was reading, it was nice to read something of her own choosing too. As she browsed, she noticed someone else doing the same as she was and she gave them a smile. "It's hard to choose just one, huh?" She said, laughing a little. "I never know what to try next... Far too many choices. Even after all these years."

"I'm free" she nodded, taking the cider from him, and giving a little thanks with it. They felt a little bad having left him and some of the others behind at the commune after moving in with her brother and James, but it wasn't like she'd moved to a new town or anything either. "What were you thinking?" she added, wondering if he already had an idea of what he wanted to do.

Even though most days Finch still felt like his world was crumbling around him, he at least tried to keep himself busy. Which is why he found himself seeking out Poppy. The pair had had a fun time at the lake event, despite what had actually happened, and if anyone was going to be a silver lining, it was probably her.
"Hey," he offered her one of the ciders he had gotten from the coffee shop. "You free? I can only stare at the ceiling at the commune for so long."

"No, I'm not busy" Felix shook his head. He wasn't scheduled for story time at the library today which meant his schedule was free. "I'd love to help. Just tell me what to do so I don't fuck it up."

"Salutations, sibling mine." It's always been... easier, to bother Felix than his sisters. For the one, he'd been around him more, growing up, his slights were a little more... recognizable, in their past, and the Chiyoda half of the family had a succession based roadblock in many exchanges that Silas had always had... trouble navigating. Felix had never endured the constant scrutiny of a Japanese father squaring them up against Cyan's achievements- for better or worse. "You busy today? I hate to only hang out when I've got like, a thing I need your help with but like, a bunch of new people have moved into that uh, listeners house, or whatever, and I've got a bunch of computers to set up there now- if you're not like, busy, and down to hang with your shithead brother, I'll get us lunch and we can uh, catch up? While I make you press buttons on the host computer in my van." A pause, then he continues.
"If you don't help me I'm going to have to climb up and down on a roof like, way more times, and you know I don't fuck with heights, man."

"I'm not - " Jasper shook his head as he spoke "I'm not cool."
Lilith smiled back at him in the mirror, that smile soon fading some. "People are shitty," she replied, tying off one of her braids. "I think you're pretty cool, Jasper."

"you're right I should probably do that. To be fair one of my windows has been stuck though. Maybe you could come by and fix it sometime. We can have lunch or dinner too. Don't worry I won't cook" she grinned and gave a laugh as she started to make him a drink.
"and you can't even pop your head out a window to let your brother know you've not got lost in the art?" he smiled "sure, grab me whatever you think is good. i trust your judgement. you probably know me better than i know me"

"Fuck you. I'm just trying to make sure my dad isn't going to get himself killed because he's an idiot that won't move out of a place with bad vibes."
Christian just let Rivers ask all his questions at once before holding a hand up to stop any more coming. "Don't you ever shut up?" He asked now then pushed his hand into a pocket. "There's a couple of people who are giving off the bad vibes."

"What do you mean it's for me?" he asked as he stood just inside the door and took a look around. "Lu - what's going on?" he turned to look at her, stepping further into the cabin and closer to her.
Lucy exhaled shakily, not sure what else to say. She led him into the woods, traversing the slightly overgrown trails silently. An hour past, and then two. Just as her feet were starting to hurt, Lucy looked up and saw the cabin.
It was a log cabin, one story, with a fire pit in the front yard and a smoker off to the side. Lucy led the way up the front steps of the wooden porch and opened the door.
It was a two bedroom, one bathroom house, with a full kitchen and plenty of closet space. There was a loft above the kitchen which could be used for a sleeping space, though there wasn't enough room for it to be a full third bedroom.
The furniture was all new and obviously hand-carved, with a few secondhand pieces here and there, like the loveseat and wing-backed chairs in the living room in front of the fireplace. The carved pieces had little raccoons hidden throughout the design details.
Lucy stepped into the middle of the living room and turned to face Roman, holding her hands out to the side. "It's for you," she said. They didn't mention that they'd made most of all the wooden furniture and shelves and little raccoon figurines that were scattered throughout. They didn't think it needed to be said.

"A singer? No, I don't think you ever told me, but that's cool. I'll be sure to come by and see you perform once you start. Do you have days you're thinking of doing it or you could give me a schedule once you know."
"oh! yeah, of course," aiko agrees, glad for the change of topic. the subject kinda made her feel like she couldn't breathe, and that terrified her. she could already feel the tension leave her body. "i, uh, i'm gonna start performing at sammie's," aiko shares, looking a little sheepish as she does. "i'm not sure if i ever told you but i was a singer before i came here. though i guess i still am a singer, technically."

"Okay, yeah that makes sense" they nodded. It would probably be better for him if she was there anyways. "Did you want to - should we go now?"
She hummed in thought, kicking her legs as she considered it. "It's probably okay. She's smaller than us so she has less stuff to look out for, like holes or whatever." Animal safety was the only thing Lizzie actually took time to really consider. And Winnie's safety. Anything else was fair game.

"I know" Mason nodded "Does she know? That you want to marry her?"
"I don't want you to leave. We're not going to ask you to leave," Conrad assured him. "I'll always be here for you." He touched Mason's elbow gently. "You know that, right?"

"yeah that's him" Nadine nodded after Isaiah pointed out the guy. She followed him over, standing a little ways back from the table, and watching with arms crossed over her chest. She lifted her hand up and gave a little wave. It seemed to work as the man soon was making his way over to apologize.
"Thanks" Nadine said after making her way back to Isaiah. "Pretty sure he only apologized because you scared the shit out of him, but I'll take it" she added with a laugh.
Being so used to taking care of himself and himself alone meant that Isaiah was still getting accustomed to lending a hand to others. But he had to admit it was not such a bad thing, especially when he got permission to go rough someone up. "Who, that guy over there?" he inquired, immediately noticing a guy who seemed to be looking at Nadine like she was a piece of meat. He scoffed, thinking it would not be hard to put him in his place. "Sure, I can teach him some manners." Approaching the table, he said, "Look here pal, I'm hearin' that you need to learn a li'l bit 'bout how to behave. Now, I'm gonna give you a chance to apologize to that nice lady first--" He pointed to Nadine. "--but if you don't, I'll just hafta beat some manners into your thick skull."

"Now's perfect" she grinned "I should go put outside clothes on" Poppy added, before finishing up what she was doing and heading to her room to get ready. Once she was out of her pajamas she made her way back out to the commons area. Ready to head out when he was.
End
He shrugged. "We can go now if ya want. I'm not bothered either way."

"that makes sense. Do you know anyone that might have connections? Like a way in without going in? It might be safer that way if you do or if you can find someone. If you feel like you have to investigate that is. It might be better to leave it alone though. Don't put yourself in danger if you don't have to."
“Sort of…cult-like?” Steph hesitated to admit. It did sound like a conspiracy theory just saying it like that. “I’m just trying to figure if that’s what it actually is or not. But I’m going to try and figure it out without actually moving in, you know, safety reasons and all,” she sighed. “I…haven’t done undercover work before, can you tell?” she joked.
