I thought this parallel was interesting - Madame Agreste painted in the style of Gustav Klimt’s Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I or The Woman in Gold.

When I think of Klimt’s portraits of women, I think highly ornamental, decorative, statuesque, and expensive (because of all the gold leaf he uses). After watching “Jackady” in particular, I like to think that this fits the way Gabriel Agreste seems to view his family: valuable works of art, more ornament or symbol than human. Golden. Or at least, perhaps this is how he wants his family to be, if only they weren’t so “highly sensitive” (read: having emotional responses that I don’t want them to have).

I don’t doubt that there is love mired in there somewhere. There has to be, in order for Gabriel to deem his wife and Adrien worthy of perfecting. Imagine him, immortalising them in the only way he knows how, even if he is dimly aware that this is the exact way they hate.

Maybe people in the fashion industry whisper about him having the Midas touch; not only because everything he puts his hand to turns to gold, but because his gift and unrelenting vision are the very thing that distance him from his family. so I got the idea for this from lavidapoliglota (x, x) and also my old German teacher’s reaction to me telling him I was learning Polish (“But why?? Don’t they have like… seven cases?” to which I replied “yeah, but German isn’t much better with four!”)

anyway, not sure this is the best I could have done (I feel like I hovered too much between catering to people who have no idea about Polish cases, and those just wanting more info on what they did know) but hopefully at least one person finds this helpful
