Do you hate me pt. 5

Two weeks had passed since my arrival at Hogwarts. Our friend had gotten closer and we were still finding more and more bout each other. I spent a few nights thinking about what professor Snape and McGonagall had said in the corridor about my brother. ‘But she is his sister, what if she has the same crazy ideas as him?’, ‘Don’t be ridiculous professor Snape, Y/n is different from her brother, and you and I both know Sam was not at fault in what happened last year. We had to expel him because he put another student in danger but it was indirectly, none of this was his fault.’. The words rang in my ears, as tonight was one of those nights. What did they mean by it was not his fault, what was not his fault? And how did that idiot unintentionally put someone in danger?. I sighed and sat up in my bed, looking over at Violet’s alarm. 3:30. I looked at the two girls sleeping forms and carefully got out of bed. I slipped some socks on and grabbed my wand, before slipping out of our room’s door. The common room was all dark and silent. I grabbed my wand, “Lumos”, I whispered. The wand illuminated and I moved carefully out of the common room, trying not to make too much noise. If I got caught by anyone, I was going to be in trouble, big time. I wandered in the hallway, before deciding to go in the library. There were books about the different classes from the different years, with pictures and articles, maybe, this would help me find out more about my brother. I made my way through the corridors, until I reached the big doors of the library. I got close to the handle, and looked around, making sure, no one was here. “Alohomora”. There was a soft click, and I turned the handle, the door opening. As I was about to enter, I felt movement somewhere in the corridor. I turned around, on my guards (and also shitting in my pants), trying to find the source of the noise. I looked around and noticed a small rat running in the hallway. I sighed and then turned back around, before slipping through the crack of the door and disappearing in the library, softly closing the door behind.
It was weird to be here at night, usually the library was cast in a soft glow, the sound of pages being turned comforting. Right now, it was all somber, silent. It had an eerie vibe, and I was starting to regret my decision. I cursed mentally and walked through the ails, only my wand providing light. I stopped by the books I was looking for and started looking for the book of last year. I found it, and It came in four versions, one for each house. I carefully grabbed the Ravenclaw one and opened it. I started slipping through the pages, until I stopped on the fourth years. There he was, on the middle of the picture, Sam. I continued slipping through the pages, looking for articles, something interesting, anything.
-Honestly I can’t say I’m surprised.
I jumped as the voice broke through the silence and almost dropped my wand. I turned around, and cursed mentally at the sight of Jungwon, standing there, leaning against a table with a smug expression.
-Jungwon. I said, acknowledging him, not wanting to give him the pleasure of knowing he scared the shit out of me (tho he probably knew).
He chuckled lowly and looked back at me.
-You know this is serious trespassing right?
-No shit.
I said, closing the book. Damn him for ruining my researches.
He hummed and smiled slyly.
-I don’t know what you’re smiling for, you’re also trespassing.
I said looking back at him with a satisfied smile.
-Make a noise and we’re both fucked.
He looked back at me and rolled his eyes.
-I’m not that stupid y/n.
It was weird hearing him say my name, and I pushed down the feeling it gave me.
-What are you doing here anyway? He asked me, his feline eyes locked on mine.
-Searching for tips on how to make my adversaries believe they have a chance to beat me at Quidditch.
-Ah ah ah, very funny y/n.
I was about to retort in y/n fashion, when we heard a noise outside. Both our eyes widened and I hurried to put the book back in place on the shelf. We rushed to hide behind a shelf, and the door of the library opened. I closed and my eyes and breathed without making a noise. Jungwon was close to me, too close for my liking. Not because I despised him, but because having his body close to mine was… distracting.
Footsteps started echoing on the floor, stopping sometimes, before continuing. It seemed like the person who had entered was looking for something, or rather someone. But what was weird was that the person didn’t call out, asking if someone was there or even threatening to punish the person they’d find.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and I opened my eyes, ready to assist to the end of my days here, until, a face came into view.
-Jungwon! Whispered the voice.
It was another boy, with blond died hair, and he was looking back and forth between us, before noticing how close we were and raising an eyebrow. I looked back at Jungwon and noticed just how close we were now that there was light again. I blushed slightly and pushed him off me before standing back up.
-No, it’s not, we weren’t-, it’s…. ugh. I stammered, flushing and huffing in annoyance at the misunderstanding. Bye.
I added, before hurrying off the library, almost running back to my dorm.
The two boys stayed there frozen, until his friend chuckled.
-Didn’t take you as the type to sneak off to see girls in the library, especially not that girl. He said amused.
Jungwon chuckled and shook his head, getting back up.
-It’s not that. He said. Just saw her enter and followed her.
His friend hummed and nodded, with a small smile.
-Right sure, it’s just that.
Jungwon scoffed as they exited the library side to side, but still a small smile was visible on his face.
-Shut up Jay.
I hurried back to my dorm and slipped back in our room. It was still silent, the girls still sleeping. I sat down on my bed and sighed, shaking my head and closing my eyes. His look, the way he said my name, his face so close to mine. ‘You know what they say tho, people who hate each other always end up making out at some point’, that was what Anna said when I told my friends about what had happened with Jungwon two weeks ago.
I lightly slapped my cheeks and huffed.
-Get a grip y/n, don’t let it get to your head. I said, before slipping back in bed and trying to clear my mind from the thoughts of him, and finally falling back asleep.
A few hours later only, the alarm rang really loudly as always. The girls yawned and stretched, getting up and Violet stopped her alarm successfully on the first time, that wasn’t usual.
Meanwhile I groaned and buried my face in the pillow. This morning was harder than the others.
Both Sarah and Violet exchanged looks before chuckling.
-Tough morning huh? Asked Sarah amused.
I hummed, my voice muffled by the pillows, before I sat up, still feeling groggy.
-Cheer up, it’s the weekend. Said Violet getting out of bed and stretching. Which means we can go to Hogsemade and finally have that Butterbeer.
Suddenly, I was feeling a bit more upbeat. I stood up and grabbed some of my clothes.
-I’ll go to the shower, and then we can leave.
The girls smiled and hummed, agreeing, and also getting some clothes out to dress and get ready.
I made my way to the bathroom and had a nice warm shower. The weather was starting to get warmer outside, as October was almost there, and we could feel it. I dressed in some casual clothes as it was the weekend and wearing our uniforms wasn’t mandatory.
-All done girls.
I exclaimed all smiley, getting out of the bathroom. Both the girls nodded and smiled. We all put on our shoes quickly and exited the common room.
-By the way, how do we get to Hogsemade?
I asked, as I really didn’t know. Was it close enough to go by foot? Or would we use a bus? A magical bus?
I got caught out of my thoughts when Violet chuckled and answered me.
-We’re gonna walk a bit to go to the barks, and then my parents are going to pick us up by car.
I hummed and nodded in understanding. Right, of course we couldn’t directly come by bus, Hogwarts was surrounded by water. But, I mean, then my theory of the magical bus could work, since we came by train-
-Y/n! Jeez look where you’re going.
Said Sarah amused, as I had almost bumped into a second year, deep in my thoughts.
-Oh right, sorry.
I said embarrassingly, as we continued making our way through the castle, going corridors after corridors, before finally stepping a foot outside.
The barks were kept on one side of the caste, near the train station from where we had arrived at the beginning of the year. We greeted the tender of the barks and got into one. It started moving by its own after a few seconds, the land on the other side its final (and only frankly) destination.
-You know, that’s genius! Started Sarah. In the muggle world, we have paddles to make the barks move, and let me tell you, it is pretty damn tiring to get them to cross an entire lake.
To be honest, I knew a few things about muggles, more like how they dressed, what they eat, what they do for a living,… And I have to admit, besides all the magic, they weren’t really different from them. It’s such a shame that we live hidden, I’m pretty sure we could learn a few things from them, and they also could from us.
Crossing the lake was peaceful and pretty short. Sarah was splashing water at Violet from time to time, laughing at her. The latter had a lot of patience, used to her antics and just sighed from time to time, keeping her calm. Honestly, give her a medal.
We stepped foot on the other side of Hogwarts, and waited a few minutes, until a car arrived where we were standing. A woman got out of the passenger seat. Even if I knew she was Violet’s mom, I could’ve guessed it without that information, she was her carbon copy. Her mom greeted us, giving Sarah a quick hug as she knew her, and waving and smiling at me, introducing herself, and telling me I could call her ‘Matilda’. We hoped in the back, and it was Vi’s dad, Paul, who was driving us to Hogsemade.
-So, first time to Hogsemade y/n? Asked me Matilda, smiling at me through the rear-view mirror.
I nodded, looking back at her.
-Yeah, first time. Violet and Sarah have told me a lot about it tho, so I’m excited.
The road to Hogsemade was going through the woods, and we hit some small bumps on the way. Paul was humming to the tune of some music playing on the radio, while Matilda was focused on a book.
-Oh look, here we are! Exclaimed Sarah, as the village came into view.
I smiled and looked out the window to see it. The car got parked and we all hoped off. Paul and Matilda told us they had some shopping to do and we could join back at the car around 4pm.
-Come on, let’s get a Butterbeer first with Mrs. Rosmerta, I’m sure she’ll like you.
Said Sarah, always the cheerful and positive, linking her arm with mine.
-Yeah, she was pretty fond of your brother. Added Vi, linking her arm with my other one.
I smiled and chuckled, muttering a small ‘thanks for the reassurance’, before we made our way to some good butterbeers.
After the girls led me through the village, we arrived to Rosmerta’s tavern, and Violet pushed the big wooden door to let us in.
The inside of the tavern was pretty big, with a top floor that was a mezzanine. There was a big fireplace that lit up almost all the tables, and also some smaller lanterns for the places it couldn’t reach. Violet and Sarah led me to a table, and we sat down. My gaze drifter upon the place, until they landed on a table.
-You have to be kidding me.
I said, before sighing and looking back at the girls.
-Ooooh, he’s following you everywhere isn’t he? Said Sarah amused, looking above my shoulder to Jungwon and his friends, sitting around some butterbeers and pastries.
-Must be destiny- ouch, what was that for? Asked Violet, rubbing her arm where I just landed a small slap.
-I don’t know why you girls keep involving me and him romantically.
-Huh? Two pretty people? Undeniable tension?? Said Sarah raising her eyebrows.
-There’s no tension.
-Right, keep gaslighting yourself y/n/n, it’ll work someday maybe. Added Violet with a chuckle and a wink.
I turned around upon hearing footsteps and spotted a blond woman with long and unruly hair coming towards us.
-Hello ladies, what can I get you? She asked smiling.
Sarah smiled and looked back at her.
-Hello Mrs. Rosmerta, three butterbeers. And oh by the way, this…
She exclaimed, circling my face with her hands.
-Is Sam’s sister!
At that information, Mrs. Rosmerta turned to me and raised an eyebrow before smiling.
-Well, would you look at that, I didn’t notice before but now the family resemblance is… striking. Your brother was a regular customer, and a nice kid, I’m really sorry about what happened to him.
I nodded and shook my hand with hers.
-Thank you, I’ve heard a lot of great things about your butterbeer. I said nodding to the other two girls.
-Alright then, let’s see if I live up to the legend.
Mrs. Rosmerta went away to the kitchen to make our three butterbeers. I turned back to Violet and Sarah, only to see them looking at me with a grin.
-What? I asked with a sigh.
-He’s drilling holes into your head.
-Stop looking at him. I said whisper yelling. You’re gonna give him the wrong message.
-You mean the right message right?
-Just, shut up. I said huffing and slumping in my chair with crossed arms.
I heard a couch coming from behind me and turned around. Right there was standing one of Jungwon’s friend, the one that ad spotted us in the library.
I looked back at him, raising an eyebrow.
-Huh, I’m Jay. He said, waving a bit. I’ve just been curious about something and Jungwon won’t tell us anything. He added, rubbing the back of his neck. So… what were you doing with him in the library in the middle of the night?
-WHAT???

Do you hate me pt.4 ?

The moment I waited for the most had finally arrived. I was walking along with Vi on my right and Sarah on my left, to the path that led to the class of Magical creature’s care, a class out in the open of the forest of Hogwarts. We arrived in the first ones and took place on a wooden bench, after having said hello to the professor of course.
-Which creature do you think we’re gonna see for our first class y/n?
-No idea, could be anything really with the variety of creatures you guys have in England.
-Well, I hope it’s something cute. Said Sarah. Like a Niffler or something.
I definitely needed to update them about the fact that I did meet one. Tonight I’d tell them about it, and also about the tiny other one I met by myself this early morning. As we were speaking, all of the remaining students came in, and the professor clapped to let us know the class was about to start.
-Hello everyone, and welcome to your very first class of Magical creature’s care! I hope you’re all as excited as I am. Today, I want you to meet a very small but feisty and ferocious creature.
He then rummaged through his stuff, before getting a big golden cage out… filled with fairies!
-Oh my god, fairies! Exclaimed Sarah with joy.
-Do you know stuff about them? Asked Violet while turning her head to me, an unpleased expression on her face.
-Well, a little bit. I only know we should be really careful, they might seem inoffensive but they could bite your finger off if you annoy them the slightest. They’re also short tempered so,… This is gonna be one hell of a ride.
-Great, what a great mix of qualities, god damn it.
-Miss Violet, language please. So, I’m gonna give you guys an hour to try to bond with them, try not to get your finger chopped off as highlighted by Miss y/l/n, and at the end of the class I want you to have a debate about what you learned. I’m gonna uncage them now, good luck everybody.
The professor opened the cage and the fairies were already flying in every directions, not even paying the less attention to us. Sarah, Vi and I all chose a fairy, and we separated, off to try, and the key word is try, to get to know these impulsive little creatures.
Ten minutes in and this class was a total mess, some students were chasing fairies, the latter only laughing at them. Some students were having their hair pulled by fairies, or some got bitten, luckily not me tho.
-I think Miss Pomfresh will have a lot of work at the end of this class! I said to Violet, seeing her approach me in the corner of my eye.
-I think we’re lucky to not be already dead if you want my opinion. Anyways, Sarah got one going in her ear, it was a sight honestly.
-In her ear?? It went in and just came out? I said, eyes wide open.
Violet just laughed at my reaction, before nodding still laughing like crazy.
-Oh my god they’re vicious. I responded laughing too. But I admit it must have been horrible, I already hate when bugs go in my ears or nose, so a whole ass fairy??!!
We were interrupted by a student screaming, a fairy following them and trying to get inside their sweater.
-Oh my god stop yelling, she’s only aiming for your sweatshirt, one got inside my ear to remind you all.
We looked at Sarah, visibly annoyed by the situation but then seeing us and coming towards us, her face giving us ‘the look’.
-Not. A. Single. Word. About. My. Ear.
We laughed but held our hands up, showing we wouldn’t dare speak about it again, even if we knew we probably would at a sleepover or something, a few days from now.
The professor interrupted the class and somehow managed to get the fairies back in the cage with a spell, I definitely need to learn that spell.
-So, time for the debrief, why did you guys learn about them?
A lot of whispers of “they’re horrible”, “I never want to see one again” and other things in this area were heard. The professor then explained to us the basic behavior of fairies.
-I understand where you’re all coming from, fairies are creatures really hard to bond with. They’re mocking, aggressive, and always seem to be on edge. The trick is to show them that you’re not afraid of their attitude nor them. They’re not fighters, if you give back attitude, they might even like you, that’s the secret. Thanks for your attention, you’re off to go.
And the forest emptied, calm coming back to the fields of Hogwarts.
“After effort comes comfort” that’s what Sarah said before suggesting we should go to the kitchen and ask the elves if we could bake a pie.
-They’re not really… sweet creatures but they should agree if we don’t make a mess. Said Vi smiling.
We exited the forest and decided to go look for Anna, hopefully she didn’t have a class and would be okay baking with us.
-I’ll go grab my book in the room for the recipe! Said Vi excitedly.
-Alright, I’ll go look for Anna with Y/n then, we meet at the kitchen in like, say fifteen minutes?
Violet nodded before parting from us and going towards the dungeons.
-Alright, let’s go. I said interlocking my arm with Sarah.
We needed to go towards Ravenclaw’s dorms to try to knock and ask for Anna, hopefully she would be here and not in class.
We were walking up the stairs to the astronomy towers, and I heard a familiar voice coming from the corridor. A small smile made its way on my face, and Sarah turned to look at me.
-I think it’s Jude. I said smiling.
-Ahhhh. She said nodding in understanding.
We arrived in the corridor, and like I presumed, Jude was standing in front of the Ravenclaw’s dorm, talking with…
-Why is he everywhere I go? I said rolling my eyes at the sight of Jungwon. But then remembering, I had to thank him, for the Cole incident.
Sarah chuckled, which gained the attention of the boys deep in a conservation. Their head snapped at us in surprise, and a smile broke on Jude’s face.
We approached them and Jude came closer to me, under the curious gaze of Jungwon, one of his eyebrows quirked.
-Hey y/n! Said Jude excitedly.
-Jude! I said with as much energy. It’s nice seeing you again.
-Yeah, it is. He answered shyly. I saw you this morning at breakfast but really quickly so it doesn’t count.
I let out a small chuckle and nodded.
Jungwon was still on the side, looking at us curiously and Sarah also said hi to Jude, before asking him if he knew Anna, after describing her.
-Oh yeah, she’s in the common room, do you want me to get her for you? He asked softly.
-Yes please Jude, that would be really nice. I said turning to him.
He nodded and opened the door, engulfing himself in the common room, the door closing behind him in a loud thud.
I looked at Sarah and there were a few seconds of silence, before we both turned to Jungwon, a few feet away from us, who started talking.
-You know Jude? He asked us.
-Me not really, Y/n yeah, they’re friends. She said in a breath.
-Is that so? He said turning to me, an eyebrow quirked.
-Yes, why? Do you mind? I answered crossing my arms.
He let out a small chuckle before shaking his head no.
-I don’t.
-Great then, there’s no problem between us.
He looked back at me frowning, and Sarah was looking at us on the side, her eyebrows raised, ready to take a bag of popcorn to enjoy the scene.
He stopped frowning and there was a slight smirk on his face, one of his dimples showing.
-This year is gonna be… amusing. He said tilting his head.
-Right. I said scoffing. It’s gonna be really amusing when Hufflepuff wins the Quidditch season.
He raised his eyebrows at that.
-Oh, because you plan on applying to be in the team?
-Maybe, if it can piss you off. I said smiling.
He was going to get back at me, before the door opened, startling us all. Jude came out all smiley, unaware of the situation that took place just before his interruption, Anna behind him.
-Hey girls. She said to us.
Sarah cleared her throat and grabbed Anna’s arm on one side, mine on the other.
-Well, we got to get going guys, it was… interesting seeing you. She said with a small chuckle, winking at me.
I rolled my eyes at her and turned around to wave at Jude.
-Bye Jude, see you tomorrow! I said with a small smile. He returned my wave before turning back to Jungwon, who was still eyeing me, a playful glint in his eyes.
As we were making our way to the dungeons, my arm still linked to Sarah’s, I felt a tap on the back of my head.
-Ouch. I said rubbing at the spot, looking over at Sarah who was looking at me with a mischievous smile. What was that for?
-What was that huh? That whole scene with Jungwon up there? She asked me in a teasing tone of voice.
-Nothing, this is actually the most we ever talked since I got here. I said rolling my eyes.
-Hmmm, I’ll keep an eye on you two. She added chuckling, before I shook my head at her, a small smile on my face.
We arrived at the dungeons and opened the heavy door. Violet was standing there in front of the kitchen, dancing from one feet to another while waiting for us, a heavy cooking book in her hands.
She lifted her head upon hearing the commotion of the door against the brick wall and smiled at us.
-Finally you found Anna, I thought you guys got lost or something. She said chuckling and looking at her watch. Five minutes late, I’ll let it slide this time. She said jokingly.
-Yeah sorry, we got a bit… held back by something. Said Sarah eyeing me with a playful look.
She got close to Violet, telling her we’ll talk about it later, putting her arm around her shoulder.
Violet knocked on the kitchen doors, waiting for an elf to open.
I was behind them with Anna by my side, who was really excited about the idea of going to the kitchens for the first time.
The door opened and an elf asked us why we were here. Violet insisted on doing all the talking, and surprisingly the elf agreed to let us in, under one condition.
-You and your friends will make pie for the elves as well.
We all eagerly nodded and promised we would make one for them too, so that they could eat it when their shift would be done.
The first step in the recipe for the cherry pie was to make the dough. We split the tasks to be quicker, Violet was pitting the cherries, Sarah was preparing the oven and trying to find the needed utensils scattered all across the kitchen and I was with Anna starting the dough preparation.
The elves were doing their business and eyeing us from the corner of their eyes from time to time, making sure we weren’t burning up anything. Not even five minutes in the kitchen and there was already flour everywhere. However, we managed to pull an acceptable dough, and rolled it on the counter before putting it neatly in the mold. Violet then put all her focus in filling the pie with the cherries.
-Are you sure you took all the pits out Vi? Wouldn’t want to choke and die because of pie. Said Sarah unsure, looking between Violet’s eyes and the pie.
-Don’t worry Sarah, I took all of them out… I think.
We looked between each other, sharing awkward smiles before bursting into laughing and deciding to put the pie to cook anyway, hoping that Violet did take all the pits out.
In the meantime our pie was cooking, we decided to start cooking the other pie, the one the elves asked us to make for them, in exchange of having the right to stay in here.
After going around and asking the elves what type of pie they liked or fruits we should put in it for them, we settled on cooking an apple and cinnamon pie.
After a few hours of hard-work, our two pies were finally done and ready to be tasted. We happily brought our pie to the elves, who inspected for a few minutes before ushering us to go out of the kitchen with our pie, before anyone would notice we were in there.
-That was fun! Said Anna holding the pie in her hands and eyeing it, the urge to taste it noticeable on her face.
-Yeah, expect when Sarah threw flour at us. Responded Violet, wiping the remaining of flour on her clothes off.
I looked at them chuckling and taking the flour off my hair, reminding me that Violet did indeed throw flour at me as well, in a euphoric state.
We all settled in going back to our dorms, sneaking Anna in even if she wasn’t allowed to.
I sat on my bed with a sigh, while Violet was taking plates out off her stuff, and I got spoons out my pockets.
-Where did you get these spoons y/n?
Asked Sarah while eyeing the spoons in my hands, a curious expression on her face.
-Stole them in the kitchen.
I said plainly, to which the girls got shocked before they chuckled a bit.
-Isn’t that the same girl who said she wasn’t going to get into trouble this year?
Said Violet teasingly, to which Sarah nodded.
-I think it is Vi.
I chuckled and shook my head.
-It’s alright, it’s spoons.
-Talking about troubles and drama, care to explain to Vi and Anna what happened with Jungwon earlier?
Said Sarah looking at me playfully.
I hummed and started telling Anna the whole story of our interactions since the beginning, before adding the last part that just happened this afternoon earlier for both her and Vi.
-Jesus, said Vi, you’re both on some heavy competitions.
Anna chuckled and nodded.
-You know what they say tho, people who hate each other always end up making out at some point.
I choked on a piece of pie, and shook my head.
-Jeez Anna, don’t say things like that while I’m eating.
-She’s got a point tho.
Claimed both Sarah and Violet, amused.
I groaned and rolled my eyes.
-No she doesn’t, who even says that?
-Denial is the first step y/n.
Said Vi, putting a hand on my shoulder, before the three girls started to laugh. I shook my head, but still a smile cracked on my face.
-You guys are stupid.
I said amused, as we all chuckled and enjoyed our freshly baked pie, and our new friend group.

Do you hate me pt.3

-He did what?
Both girls exclaimed loudly at the same time, the whole dorm probably hearing.
-You heard me, he just stepped in and just started to get me out of this weird situation, I think?
-It doesn’t surprise me coming from him honestly, I mean last year he threw chalks at bullies. But I didn’t actually think he’d step up for you.
-He threw what?
They both laughed at my expression and over the fact that that was the only thing I picked up from what they told me.
-Well, I don’t know why but I feel like your interactions with him are going to be more and more interesting…
The three of us got up and went in the library’s direction to borrow some books. Violet wanted to read about Muggle’s cooking, her great passion apparently.
-You should come to mine one day, both of you, I’ll make your dream come true Vi.
Said Sarah, holding onto a pile of books about potions. She noticed our staring and later on the smiles on our faces.
-Yes I’m that desperate, no comments please.
I went up and stumbled upon a book about the magic creatures that lived in the lake of Hogwarts. My brother once told me that anyone was forbidden from flying above it because there was a giant calamari living there. I never believed him until a picture of it was released in a newspaper.
We read for about an hour before the girls decided to get some rest before dinner, apparently tired from the flying lessons. I accompanied them back to our room but chose to have a little stroll around the castle alone.
I decided to go to the plains, right behind Hagrid’s garden. It was a big open space with a lot of flowers and even some tiny waterfalls. I was about to sit when I noticed someone not far away, talking to someone else. I approached them and they turned around when they felt my presence.
It was a boy. A Ravenclaw with middle length curly ginger hair and a lot of freckles all across his face.
He jumped back at my presence, apparently not used to seeing anybody around here.
-Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t want to scare you, I just got curious.
-No it’s fine, I’m just not used to seeing people here. I don’t really have friends so I spend most of my time here alone.
-Almost alone.
I said, while looking at the tiny creature on his lap.
-Oh, meet Mushroom, he is…
-A Niffler! I love them.
I said smiling.
-I’m Jude by the way, I’m in second year.
-Y/n, third year since two days only.
-I see, nice to meet you. You like magical creatures too?
-Yeah, I have a huge book about them!
I said sitting down next to him, but not too close.
-I could show it to you if you want.
-I’d like that.
We were just sitting here and talking, I think we talked for maybe more than an hour. I just met him but he was so nice he already felt like a little brother to me. I wonder how it was even possible that he didn’t have any friends, his kindness and gentleness were amazing. We only noticed it was time for us to go the Great Hall to grab some dinner when the sun started to set.
We separated in the corridor, each of us going to our own common rooms, before agreeing on meeting again same place in two days. I’m actually surprised I’m making friends that easily. Being social never was my best quality.
When I entered my room, Violet and Sarah were still sleeping and I wondered for a second if I should wake them up or let them sleep, but settled on the first option. I gently shock Violet first. It took her a few minutes before she was fully awake. She went to Sarah to wake her up, asking me at the same time where I was. I told her about Jude and she was happy that I was making friends with the same interests as me.
Everybody now awake, we decided to throw a sweatshirt on because it was starting to get fresher, and made our way for the third time today to the Great Hall. Arriving there, I immediately noticed it was way fuller than at lunch, finding a spot was gonna be hard. We sat next to a group of first years.
We were secretly laughing because we quickly realized they were talking about Professor Snape, saying how he was so rude and wondering how they were gonna survive six whole years with him.
I was actually lucky on this point, I’d have to bear with him only four years.
The Professor I was the most excited to meet was McGonagall. Sam told me a lot about her. I also heard that she is an animagus which is absolutely cool. I have so many questions to ask her about that, maybe this is the only class I’ll stay at once finished, if it allows me to know more about animagus’.
-We should go to Hogsmeade this weekend y/n! Vi and I could show you around the village!
-Oh my god yes that’s a great idea! But wait, we’re allowed to go outside the castle on weekends?
-If your parents give a permission yes you can of course!
Sarah said, her mouth full of mashed potatoes.
-I’ll send them an owl this week then, hopefully they’ll say yes.
Going to Hogsmeade really excited me, I was thrilled to finally be able to try Miss Rosmerta’s famous butterbeer.
I felt a light tap on my shoulder, almost like the person didn’t want to bother me and I turned to look up and see Jude’s smiling face, he quickly said hi to Violet and Sarah before going away and waving at me, saying he just wanted to quickly drop by before going back to his room. He really had such a cute little brother energy. Before going back to our conversation, I noticed Jude stopping by the Gryffindor’s table, before saying hello quickly to… Jungwon? These two know each other? Maybe I’ll ask Jude but not right now, I knew him for not even twenty four hours and I knew that he was pretty shy and secretive, I’ll let him tell me when he’d be comfortable enough doing so.
-That’s Jude right, the one you told us about?
Asked Violet.
-Yes it’s him!
-He seems really nice!
Said Sarah.
-A bit shy but really nice.
-He has a hard time making friends, I’m just glad I found him, we have a lot in common.
And with that, we went back to our room. We took a corridor and I heard what seemed like people muttering, like being really careful nobody was hearing them. I told Violet and Sarah and they looked at each other, nodding before following down the dark alley, only lit by the light of the candles on the walls. We walked on our tipy toes, making extra sure to not make any noise when we finally could hear what the persons were talking about. It sounded like two professors, Snape was one of them for sure and I didn’t recognize the voice of the other one.
-But she is his sister, what if she has the same crazy ideas as him?
-Don’t be ridiculous professor Snape, Y/n is different from her brother, and you and I both know Sam was not at fault in what happened last year. We had to expel him because he put another student in danger but it was indirectly, none of this was his fault. That’s actually why the other student also got expelled. Now if you excuse me, I have classes to prepare.
We suddenly panicked and decided to hide in the first room that we saw, opened the door and carefully shut it. We were inside an empty classroom and we heard the footsteps passing by before disappearing further in the corridor.
We stayed here a solid five minutes, Violet and Sarah too scared of getting caught, and me, trying to figure out everything I just heard, my mind going into a spiral of thoughts. They were talking about me, and about the reason Sam got expelled. Maybe I lied, I definitely was going to investigate this year.
We quietly went back to our room, and after closing our door and taking our sweatshirts off, the girls straight up started talking.
-Oh my god y/n they were talking about your brother and you!
Exclaimed Violet with excitement.
-Are you gonna try to dig in, we could help you know.
-I don’t know guys, I don’t wanna make the same mistakes as my brother and get you fired too.
-Well, we’ll be careful, and we could be useful, you don’t know anything about Hogwarts!
Sarah smiled because she knew she already convinced me, and I sighed before agreeing.
-Fine, but we’ll be extra careful, and nobody else has to know except us three.
They exclaimed in joy and happily danced around the room, saying that their third year was about to be a Sherlock Holmes’ case. I really didn’t see myself doing this on my own anymore.
We went to bed the girls excited about the new adventures that were waiting for us, me too, but also scared about what was about to come, what was I about to learn. I finally closed my eyes and let sleep take over.
I suddenly woke up, the room was still pitch black and I wondered what time it was for a second. I turned around to look at the clock and sighed when I realized it was five fifty, breakfast was in two hours and classes in three. It was useless to fall asleep again at this point. I carefully got up to not wake up Sarah nor Vi, took my wand, just in case, and decided to go out for some exploration.
I’d just have to be back in the dorms by seven thirty, that way nobody would notice I was gone for a few hours. At least I hoped so, it’d be better if I didn’t get into trouble not even a week after being here.
I started quietly wandering around the castle, before deciding upon going outside, to the plains were I met Jude yesterday.
The sun was starting to rise, strokes of oranges and pinks adorning the sky. A few clouds were moving due to the cool breeze that was starting to rise. I sat on the grass and just enjoyed the moment, before noticing a little movement in a bush. Seems like a little someone was in there.
I approached it slowly, trying not to scare whatever was in there. I lifted the leaves only to find a little bowtruckle, hiding behind a branch.
I let my hands down and tried to not get to close to him. I read a lot about them, it takes a lot for them to trust you, they’re really shy and don’t open up easily but once they do they become quit clingy. I sat in front of him.
-Hey there, I’m not gonna touch you, or hurt you. I’ll keep my distance, if you wanna come out of here.
It just looked at me, completely disappearing behind the branch before only letting his head visible.
I smiled at him, he was really cute. I could see he was interested and curious but still really cautious.
-I’m y/n, nice to meet you little one.
He looked at me for a few seconds before completely going out and standing next to the branch, holding it with its tiny hands.
-You were watching me weren’t you? You’re a really curious little thing. I’m also curious about you, maybe we could learn about each other don’t you think?
He tilted his head, looked at me briefly and diverted his gaze somewhere else.
-Look, I have to go if I don’t wanna get caught, but I’ll come back to look for you. Bye little one.
I got up and looked at him one last time, before leaving the fields to go back to my room, it was already seven and I needed to head back to take a shower and change before breakfast.
When I arrived in the room, the girls were still asleep, this time I had to wake them up tho, or we’d be late. Violet woke up quite easily so I told her that I was going to the shower and that she could try to wake up Sarah. She yawned but gave me a thumbs up. I smiled at her, wishing her good luck with Sarah, if there’s one thing I learned about her is that she didn’t like being waken up.
I stepped in the shower and decided to also wash my hair, and then got dressed in my uniform again, also putting the wool jacket this time, the temperatures were already getting fresher.
When I stepped out of the shower and went back to the room Violet was changed and told me that Sarah went in the toilets to change and that she’d be back soon.
Today’s classes were Spells and metamorphosis for the morning and magical creatures’ care in the afternoon. I couldn’t wait, all of today’s classes seemed really interesting to me. Sarah came back in our room, throwing her pajama on the bed before saying hello to me. And we were off the Great Hall again, another day ahead of us.
The breakfast rolled by pretty fast and our first class was about to start. Vi entered first, holding the door for me and Sarah and I greeted the professor before we sat next to each other on the middle bench, not to high, not to low, just the right place. The other students came in one by one. All of the houses were mixed up for this class, which was really cool in my opinion, we could get to know and befriend students from other houses that way. A girl with short purple hair from Ravenclaw approached me, putting her books next to mine.
-Can I sit here?
She asked smiling at me.
-Yes of course, I’m not waiting for anybody so you can.
She thanked me and sat next to me.
-My name is Anna by the way, nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet you too Anna, I’m y/n, and this is Violet and Sarah is next to her.
They said hi to each other before the professor asked for silence, the lesson started.
We were learning Amplificatum today, a spell to make any object bigger. We were training on apples. The class was divided in two groups, one was gonna learn about how to pronounce it, what gesture to do, the cases in which you could absolutely not use it,… while the other one was gonna do theory, basically how the spell was invented and by who, what for,… The groups were gonna be switched and once everybody would be done the whole class was gonna try to cast the spell.
We were divided in two groups really easily, the right side of the class and the left one.
Our side was starting with theory and I was glad it was this first, I always like it better when we start with the boring stuff. We were alone for this part of the class, the board was full of information that we had to copy and memorize for the next time. Copying the lesson in notes was pretty quick and we had at least twenty minutes before we were gonna switch with the other group. I decided to use this free time to get to know Anna. She was in third year like us obviously. She was a really sweet girl, interested in cooking, she wanted to be a wizard chef later. We had things in common, I also liked cooking even if I was more of a baking kind of girl. She also liked reading books like me and I told her we could sometime have a picnic together with the girls, cook and bake sweets and read books. She was thrilled by the idea. She told me she was jealous of our dorms because we were right next to the kitchens and could easily steal food if we were feeling hungry in the middle of the night. The idea was tempting but honestly I wouldn’t bring myself to try. I also asked her about her common room, I knew Ravenclaw’s was one of the prettiest, if not the prettiest because of how my brother described it to me.
And with how Anna described it too, it really felt like the room was magical, only bad point is that they were in one of the highest towers of Hogwarts, the wind was always blowing really loud in the corridors and it was always cold.
The theory class ended after 10 minutes of us speaking with Anna, Violet also quickly bonded with her, having a shared passion for cooking, before we got to switch with the interesting part.
We were with the professor this time, who was trying to tell everybody to switch side in calm, ninety percent absolutely not listening. When we successfully made our way through running students and seated, our lesson started.
The professor explained the same things to us, told us how to correctly pronounce the spell and made us repeat after him. We were all laughing at Vi’s pronunciation because she heavily mangled the word, the professor telling her it was her head she was gonna amplify if she pronounced it like that.
Then, we all got our wands out and tried to properly do the gesture, that was easier than the first step honestly. I realized it was actually the first time I was seeing the girl’s wands, I never really paid attention to that before. Violet’s wand was the longest out of us four. It was made in oak wood and the core was dragon heartstrings. Sarah ‘s wand was much shorter and seemed more flexible, it was made out of birch wood and had a unicorn hair. Anna’s was also oak but way darker and also had a unicorn hair. Mine was acacia wood and the core was different then most student here since my wand was not from Ollivander’s, or from the UK in general. I had a Veela hair core.
The professor placed apples in front of every single one of us and told us it was finally time for us to try.
-How many students got it right in the previous group professor? Asked Violet, scared of messing up the spell.
-About half successfully amplified the apple at the right size and the other half made it either too big or too small, but I’m sure you’ll make it just right. He answered, smiling at us.
-Now, cast the spell.
A wave of ‘amplificatum’ took over the quiet of the classroom, accompanied by some screams of students having created gigantic apples, enough to bake a pie to feed the whole castle.
We all looked at each other and nodded, before pronouncing the spell out loud, making the right gesture at the same time.
I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the results, when we heard the professor gasp.
I opened my eyes, only to come to face with 4 perfectly amplified apples. We all looked at each other before screaming in joy in unison. The professor clapping.
-Very good girls, 10 points for each of you for this perfect spell casting and amazing synchronization if I might had. Okay great everyone, class is done for today, I’m proud of the results keep going and see you next week.
And with that, everyone excited the classroom.
Sarah, Violet and I saying goodbye to Anna. I hoped we were going to share more classes with her because the four of us really got along well.
Next class was metamorphosis with Professor McGonagall and I was thrilled about it.
Violet and Sarah told me she was a remarkable lady, full of knowledge, strict but also really nice and willing to help you if you regularly participated and listened in class. She was also a woman of words, always keeping her promises.
We entered the class and it was a big one. I loved the atmosphere of it. There was a big golden glob next the professor’s desk, and I really held myself from touching it.
The student’s desks were tables of two, and I told Violet and Sarah to sit with each other, I was right behind them so it was okay, moreover, I wouldn’t really need a friend next to me since I wasn’t gonna talk very much during this class, the content was something I was looking forward to.
I sat and got my books out and the professor came in and asked for the silence as the lesson was about to start.
-Hello everyone, welcome for another year at Hogwarts and in my classroom. This year will be really interesting for those who seek knowledge in metamorphosis. Our first lesson will be Felifors, or, turning a cat in a cauldron. You can all go and take a cat, you have an hour to try to successfully turn it into a cauldron. I’ll explain to you the steps one by one. Off you go.
I looked at Violet and Sarah and we got up to pick up a cat.
-You guys are right, she’s amazing! She’s speaking so calmly but everybody’s listening to her, she’s so cool for that honestly, respect.
I sat back and put the cat in front of me, and it surprisingly sit still and didn’t move, it was just looking at me. Seems like I picked the right one, I thought, looking around and seeing some students struggling a lot with their cats who were moving nonstop and meowing while trying to get on them.
Professor McGonagall told us that now we needed to calm our pets as much as possible, the more stressed an animal is, the worst a spell turns out. Sometimes the animal can even die if it’s in really bad conditions and someone still try$ies to cast a spell on them. I guess same goes for humans, to be able to success in casting a spell, you need to be as calm as ever, or you mess up.
-Okay, I think this might be my area. I said, looking at the cat.
I’ve always liked animals, magical or not, and found myself drawn to them as much as they were drawn to me.
I decided to put my hands in front of the cat first, to show him they weren’t something dangerous and I wasn’t gonna hurt him. Then I slowly approached my hands and let them face towards him but still without touching him. And when he felt like it, he put his head to my hands, and then his body. I could pet him now.
Animals are like humans in my opinion, you can’t touch them if you don’t know if they want it or not, they have boundaries, like us, and I like to respect that.
The cat was purring and I think it was my sign that it was comfortable enough with me.
I looked up, only to see Professor McGonagall right in front of my desk.
-Seems like you have a gift with animals Miss y/l/n. She said smiling at the sight of the cat laying it’s head on me.
-Oh, you know me? And, yes, seems like it. I said smiling softly.
-Of course I know you, your brother was a great student, I’m sure you’ll be just as good as him. Now, try to cast Felifors.
I nodded, distanced myself a little from the cat, and cast the spell.
The next thing I saw was a cauldron, sitting right were the cat once was, only for it to turn back to a cat about twenty seconds later.
-Seems like it’s a success Miss y/l/n, congratulations.
-Thanks Professor. I answered smiling.
-You can put the cat back where it was, unless you want to keep him company for the remaining 10 minutes, now if you’ll excuse me I have some business to attend, she said, while pointing to a student whose cat claws where buried in his sweater.
As soon as McGonagall went away, Violet and Sarah turned around, showing me their cauldrons, Violet’s was neat and perfect but Sarah’s one had a long tail.
-Hey, at least it’s a cauldron, she said laughing.
The bell rang, and we were off to lunch once again.

Do you hate me? pt. 2

After a dinner full of gossiping, laughing and stolen glances between the Gryffindor and I, we made our way to the dungeons to go to our dorms, me following Violet because I obviously didn’t know the way. While we were walking, she was telling me anecdotes about the castle and the classes we were gonna share tomorrow, which were potions and divination in the morning with students from Slytherin and Ravenclaw and after lunch (the moment I was waiting for the most) we would have flying lessons with the Gryffindors. Not the wisest choice if you ask me, I don’t think after having eaten like you do on Christmas Eve flying is the best option. What was actually cool is that we were finished with our day after flying, by four. Violet told me it was not usual to get that much spare time so we should use it wisely.
Upon entering the common room, I immediately thought it looked amazing. There was a big fireplace surrounded by wooden couches topped by hundreds of fluffy blankets and yellow and green colored cushions. I just wanted to throw myself onto one and stay there until the next morning. The room was illuminated by candles which gave It a really cozy vibe. On one of the walls was hanging a painting of a woman, holding a cup of beverage.
-Violet, who’s this?
She turned to me, before looking at the painting.
-This is Helga Hufflepuff my dear.
She said to me, while putting her hand on my shoulder.
-She’s the founder of our house.
-Yeah I kind of got that with the name you know?
She laughed before asking me how I thought the room was.
-It’s cool, I like it. The plants look amazing tho, do you use magic on them?
-Sometimes, but nothing’s better then just watering them every morning. We’re supposed to do it in rotations but I always avoid it.
-I could take yours if you want, I don’t mind.
-We’ll see if you still think that after being completely soaked ten minutes after you just woke up.
We were interrupted by our prefect telling us that it was time to go to bed since it was already ten, and we still needed to shower and tidy our rooms. And one thing was crystal clear, we needed to wake up at seven the next morning, breakfast was at eight and classes began at nine.
We entered our room and it looked like the common part but tinier and with more furniture of course. There was two desks, one bed for each person of course and shelves to put our clothes and stuff on it.
I was sharing the room with Violet and another girl from our year, Sarah.
I was finishing putting my clothes and all of my other stuff on my shelf when she talked to me for the first time.
-Hey, I’m Sarah, nice to meet you.
She extended her hand and smiled at me.
-Y/n, nice to meet you too.
She seemed like she wanted to say something else for a minute but maybe she thought she could save it for later, or not.
-Look, I know you’re Sam’s sister and I promise I don’t care about it, I just wanna be friends with you, you seem cool.
I smiled at that, maybe not everybody was gonna be interested in my status more than my person.
-Thanks, and it’s cool don’t worry, it’s not like my brother’s in Azkaban or something.
Violet showed me the showers and told me that I could use it in the evening or in the morning but not both, so I settled for the morning, I can’t go to class feeling dirty personally. The three of us changed into our pajamas and went to bed. It was only ten thirty so I decided to get a book and read for half an hour before going to sleep. I picked one about magical creatures that I already started a few weeks ago. I’ve always liked magical creatures, observing them in Beauxbâtons was one of my favorite things to do in my spare time. I hope Hogwarts has as much as my old school. One class I know I was gonna enjoy for sure was magical creature’s care.
The next morning I was woken up by Violet’s loud ass alarm, that I urged her to stop.
-Jeez Violet, did you enchant that thing? Why is it so damn loud?
-I don’t even know myself, I’ve been trying to get it to shut up for the past year but I don’t know how to turn it off.
-Why don’t you just smash it?
-It’s a gift from my mom she’d kill me if I do.
I groaned before getting up and heading straight to the shower and putting my uniform on, a plain grey skirt with a shirt and of course, the famous tie harboring the colors of my house. I decided to also put the high knee socks because why not and got out of the shower. When I came back in the room, Sarah and Violet were dressed and waiting for me. They were both night shower persons.
The temperature in the dungeons was really cold compared to the inside of the room but it got better as soon as we took the stairs to the Great Hall.
There were already a lot of students inside when we got here so we decided to quickly sit somewhere before there was no space anymore. I chose to eat some eggs and a slice of bread, despite the stares of Violet, who was way more of a sweet breakfast kind of girl.
-Seems like we really are opposites, between the shower and this.
I pointed out to her, while she smiled before telling me the corniest sentence I’ve ever heard.
-That’s why we’re made to be friends.
-Oh my god don’t ever say anything like that again.
We were bickering and going back and forth at each other while Sarah was holding her tummy because of laughing so hard.
-By the way y/n, you’re born in December aren’t you?
-Yes, 1st why?
-Oh so you’re the only one who’s still fourteen you baby.
-Hey, there’s only a few months left before I’m fifteen, don’t tease me like that.
-Kidding kidding, we’ll do something big for you birthday I swear.
-Why am I scared.
-With Violet and her weird ideas you should be.
-Hey!
Violet suddenly got up and started chasing Sarah in the hall, leaving me laughing like crazy at the table, but a bit ashamed at the same time that these two were my friends. I was finishing my plate when I noticed a shadow on the table, right next to me. I turned around smiling.
-You’re done chasing each other?
But instead of seeing Violet or Sarah, I met none other than Yang Jungwon, who was staring at me, his gaze once again piercing my soul.
-Hum, hello?
He just stared at me before furrowing his eyebrows and finally letting his eyes wander somewhere else, coughing a little bit when he probably figured that starring at someone wasn’t the most polite thing, and finally carried on to his table.
My eyes were fixed on his back, watching him go away before turning back to my plate, confusion written on my face.
Violet and Sarah came back running probably from having seen the interaction from the other side of the room.
-What just happened??? said Sarah.
-Yeah what the frick was that about?
-I don’t know, he just stopped here, looked at me very intensely and then just left.
-Man that’s weird.
-Yeah, you tell me about it Violet.
I said while turning around, seeing him at a table with his friends, his behavior completely different, laughing with the biggest smile ever.
We realized it was already eight forty five and we needed to head to potion class if we didn’t want to be late, which we definitely didn’t want to be according to Sarah.
-Professor Snape doesn’t like Sarah at all, explained Violet, she’s really bad at potions and blows a cauldron at least two times a week.
I laughed at that while Sarah was sulking.
-I’m trying my best Vi, you know that.
-Don’t worry Sarah, I’m also not that good at potions, we’ll cry together, both from the lessons and Snape.
I said while intertwining our arms.
The door of the classroom was already open when we arrived and we sat at a table with two other girls, both from Ravenclaw. We said hi to each other and got our stuff out.
Minutes later the professor came in and explained really quickly the lesson of today.
We were gonna do a common antidote. Or ‘try to do it properly’ said professor Snape while eyeing Sarah, who just smiled in return.
The recipe was pretty simple and I was actually surprised at myself for doing it right. Maybe I was just struggling in Beauxbâtons, or it was just a simple one and things were gonna get complicated, who knows?
Violet finished her potion in first and Snape allowed her to clean her stuff while he was checking on the other students. I finished mine ten minutes later and I felt like Snape analyzed my face more than my potion.
-Good enough y/l/n, but I must admit your brother was better.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise at his comment but nodded and got up to wash my cauldron, Violet in the background trying to hold back her laugh.
-Your face was priceless.
-Does this dude always get into personal stuff like that?
-Yep, once he told Sarah she was bad because her parents probably never told her about it.
I tilted my head to the side, not understanding.
-Sarah’s parents are muggles.
My eyes went wide at that statement and I whispered for nobody but us to hear.
-That asshole!
-No chatting in the classroom, if you are done cleaning your cauldrons you can go you are dismissed.
We waved to Sarah on our way out and told her we were waiting for her in the corridor to go to our next class together.
She nodded and continued her potion, hoping to finish on time. We waited a little further in the corridor for her and started talking to pass time.
-So, what did you think of your first class?
-I would’ve rather for it to be something else than potions but I’m glad Snape went easy on me.
-Next is divination, I hope you’re ready because this class is something.
-Do you need to be high to understand what the teacher is saying?
-If someone is high it’s her trust me. By the way, I think you were too immersed in your potion to notice, but you got someone’s attention.
She wiggled her eyebrows at me in a playful manner and I scoffed.
-Who?
-His name is Cole, a Slytherin, he is a third year like us.
-God it was already enough to have one guy’s attention on me.
-You should talk to him, he’s cute.
-Thank you for trying to be my wings-woman but you know sometimes being cute isn’t enough, take Jungwon for example.
She nodded before turning her head back at me.
-Wait a minute, you thing Jungwon’s cute????
-I mean, did you see the guy, he’s far from being unattractive and I know I’m not the only one that can possibly be thinking this.
-You’re actually right, he’s pretty cute.
-Oh my god, I’m free, FREE.
We turned around seeing Sarah running towards us while holding her book in a dramatic manner, repeating that she thought she was gonna die.
-Come on Sarah, let’s go to divination, you can sleep all you want in this one.
Her face lit up at that comment and she grabbed our hands to run to divination. Our next class took place in the astronomy tower, a beautiful aisle, the tallest point of Hogwarts. I was glad to finally be able to feel the air and breath, after an hour of class in the dungeons were it smelled like rotten carrots this was heaven. We took place in the middle of the classroom, Sarah complained that she couldn’t sleep well if she was to close to Trelawney, her sudden screaming bothering her.
Professor Trelawney was a weird lady, but quite interesting I must say, I don’t honestly know if she’s believing in what she says or just playing along.
She gave us the work of “reading in the crystal balls to see and try to understand each others future”. Sarah fell asleep pretty quickly, tired from Snape’s harassment and Violet and I were trying to understand whatever we could of this class.
-Okay Violet, I see, hum I see…
She nodded, interesting in what I was about to say, her eyes showing excitement.
-I don’t know I don’t see anything except weird smoke wandering inside that thing.
-I had hope in you! Come on tell me I’m gonna be drowning in money!
-Unfortunately, this might mean that you are gonna end up really poor Violet… Sorry for you.
-Man, it sucks…
We looked at each other briefly before laughing, waking up Sarah by the same occasion.
-Girls, my dream was good.
She said sadly, us apologizing a hundred times before getting back at laughing at whatever stupidities we were saying.
The bell rang and I was actually surprised at how fast students were getting up, not even paying attention to the poor teacher who was trying to give homework. This class really was the opposite of potions. As soon as we got to the Great Hall, my stomach was rumbling because of the delicious smell that was lingering in the air. We opened the heavy doors and found a table to sit at.
We didn’t waste a second and got up to fill our plates with delicious foods. I opted for a slice of meat pie and sweet potatoes. I then filled my glass with water and when I turned around, I noticed that Sarah and Violet weren’t next to me anymore, but a few meters away from me, saying goodbye to a boy I only saw the back of, but recognized the green and silver robe.
-Who was that? I asked as they approached me.
-Remember the guy from potion class, Cole?
Answered Violet.
-He asked your name, seems like he fancies you.
Continued Sarah, wiggling her eyebrows at me and giving side eyes to Violet.
-Don’t pull that face, I don’t even know the guy I’m not gonna date him.
-If you say so… I’m still hoping to see some romance tho, from one of you two!
Violet sighed at Sarah’s comment, before asking her when she was gonna find someone. The pair bickering once again. Seems like the great hall was their favorite place to do so.
-Anyways, we should eat guys, next is flying lessons and we’re gonna need some strength believe me.
We all agreed at Sarah’s comment and decided to dive in our plates and get our stomachs full, but not to much, it’ll be better if I don’t throw up and embarrass myself in my first flying class.
The training stadium was great at this time of the year, a little breeze was making our hair slightly dance and was bringing freshness. We each grabbed a broom and walked in direction of professor Hooch, ready to start the class.
-Okay everybody, welcome to your first class of flying of this year, I’m excepting you to behave as well as to stay focused once in the air since accidents happen quickly. We are gonna learn how to do a roll. Miss y/l/n, I heard that you already learned it in Beauxbâtons?
All eyes were suddenly focused on me from both Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs and it took me quite a second before focusing back on the teacher and answering her.
-Hum, yes, we’ve haven’t learned diving neither loopings but we did learn how to roll.
-Perfect then, can you do a demonstration and maybe help students who aren’t comfortable on their brooms?
-Yes professor of course.
I slowly advanced in front of the group, not comfortable myself in giving a demo, rolling was something I only did a few times last year and I hadn’t flown on a broom since then.
I sat and quickly breathed out, trying to ease my stress before launching. The roll was pretty quick to do and I thanked my muscle memory for remembering how to do it well.
I landed back on the ground, silence overtaking the class before professor Hooch started talking again.
-Wonderful y/n! You fly great, you should start thinking about applying to be in the Quidditch team, 10 points for Hufflepuff.
I turned around to meet the proud faces of Violet and Sarah, smiling at me like proud moms and showing me their thumbs. I went back to them before thanking our teacher, and the lesson started.
Some students started trying, failing most of the time on the first attempt which was normal. All except one. I was looking up the sky when I saw a Gryffindor failing once, before successfully doing a roll and landing on the ground. Yang Jungwon.
Professor Hooch felicitated him, also giving points to his house before also telling him to help the other. The hour went on with me trying to explain to Violet how to do a roll without her breaking her neck and she actually did! I jumped in her arms when she landed, proud of her. Sarah on the other side did her first roll twenty minutes ago and didn’t stop since then.
-Sarah!!!
Both Violet and I screamed from the floor. She came to us, her hair in all places and her cheeks as red as the Gryffindors ties.
-What?
-Stop going around like that you’re gonna throw up.
She laughed and came back down, realizing that we were probably right. Miss Hooch whistled and the class was dismissed and allowed to go. Violet and Sarah were ahead of me when I noticed my shoelace was untied, I crouched to tie it back, telling them they could go again and I’d join them in the library in a few minutes. When I stood up again, something hard crashed in my back, or rather someone. I quickly turned around to apologize, when I came face to face with none other than the dark haired Gryffindor boy.
-Oh, hum, I’m sorry, I didn’t see that you were coming.
He just looked at me with an expression I quite didn’t recognize before getting back to normal and continuing walking.
-Do you never talk?
I asked him smiling even tho he couldn’t see it. He stopped in his tracks, and mumbled something, probably choosing whether to answer or not. After a few seconds, he turned back to me and came closer.
-What exactly do you want me to say?
I don’t know how to explain it but he sounded exactly like how he looked, if that makes sense.
-I don’t know, anything. Are you just gonna stare at me and go away each time we meet?
-Do you want me to start a conversation, to be my friend? Because that’s not gonna happen.
-Ouch okay, hum rude. Anyways, pleased to meet you.
And this time I was the one to go away, passing him before muttering a quiet ‘shithead’ that I hope he didn’t hear.
When I arrived in the corridor, I realized that I actually didn’t know were the library was. I was about to go full on exploration mode when I noticed a familiar figure approaching me. I sighed and mentally cursed, before the person was right in front me.
-Hey, hum, y/n right? We share potion class, I’m Cole.
-Hum, yeah. Would you tell me where the library is please?
-Yeah of course no problem, I could take you there if you want.
He said smiling with a weird look in his eyes, and I wondered for a moment in what sense he meant it. I was suddenly not feeling really comfortable in his presence.
-No it’s fine I’ll go alone.
-Sure?
-Yes sure.
-Alright, it’s on the first floor.
-Thanks.
I continued walking when he stopped me, grabbing my arm. What the fuck. I tried to distance myself a bit for him to stop holding onto me, and he did, thank god.
-I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me sometime, you know, get to know each other.
-I’m not sure I’ll have time for that.
I answered distancing myself again, trying not to sound like I was lying, even if I was.
-Or we could grab lunch together if you think-
-I don’t think she wants to see you at all Cole.
Interrupted a voice. I looked over Cole’s shoulder to see none other than Jungwon, leaning on the wall only a few meters away from us.
-Jungwon! Nice to see you again.
I honestly didn’t think I’d say that one day but I was actually pleased to see him right now. At least he knew how to read the room.
-Can’t you see the girl’s not interested?
-How would you know that? I believe you don’t have a lot of experience with girls.
-No need to have to understand she doesn’t want you unless if it’s five feet away from her. And if by saying that to me, you imply that you have experience with girls, sorry to break it to you but harassing doesn’t count.
Cole didn’t answer but just fixed him and I thought for a moment he was gonna punch him in the face, but the tension was broke when we heard footsteps approaching.
-There you are! We started getting worried when we saw you weren’t arriving.
Sarah said, before looking between the three of us, surely noting the weird atmosphere.
-On time. I said quietly only for me to hear.
I joined them and looked back one more time, seeing Jungwon going back to the stadium. I’m gonna have to thank him later.
-What was that all about?
Asked Violet.
-Why don’t we go to our room, we’ll go to the library after I explained you guys.
And with that, we were on our way to our dorm.

Do you hate me? pt. 1

There we are, the day I’m being transferred is here. I can’t believe I’m actually leaving Beauxbâtons to go to Hogwarts. Everything sounds so weird to me, new school, new friends, new classes. I can’t lie I’m actually stressed about it all and not ready for this new chapter of my life to begin but I don’t really have a choice do I?
If only my brother didn’t go to Hogwarts and didn’t get fired for mysterious reasons.
Yes, I’m being transferred because of this idiot of a brother I have. Sam. He is two years older than me and he got expelled from Hogwarts a few months ago. My parents never knew why, the professors all claim that he was an ‘unstable’ child, and they’re not wrong tho, but my parents believe there’s something fishy about it all, so they’re sending me there to try and find more about it.
I told them it was a stupid idea and it was probably gonna get me fired too but for some reasons they believe I’m smarter than him and won’t get caught. What they don’t know is that I’m not planning to play the detectives at all. If I’m moving schools it’s to actually enjoy my time here and meet new people, what Sam did is honestly not my problem, if he wants to fuck up his school years then the floor is his, but I’m not gonna make the same mistakes.
The loud screeching of the train’s wheels is taking me out of my daydreaming. I’m on the platform ready to embark for my first year at Hogwarts, which is the third one there by the way. I would have rather entered the school in first year like everybody else but we can’t control everything I guess, even more when your parents are separated and one lives in France while the other lives in England.
When our parents divorced, Sam and I got separated too, he went in England with our father and I went in France with our mother, which explains why we didn’t go to the same schools.
A door opens right before me and I hope on, trying to get my excessively heavy luggage in.
Once I do, I start trailing in the corridor, looking for an empty cabinet I could find peace in to enjoy my trip.
After what seems like an eternity, I stumble upon one, open the door and engulf myself inside. I drop my bag on the couch of one side and put my cat beside me. One great thing about Hogwarts that we couldn’t have in Beauxbâtons is our pets. I sit on the couch letting a sigh I’ve been holding for a century and close my eyes, this year is gonna be something, I can feel it.
I open my eyes to a voice entering my precious space and getting me out of my princess sleep.
I look up to see a girl, apparently struggling as much as I was to get her things in.
-Hum, do you need a hand?
She turns her head and looks at me in surprise before breaking into a wide smile.
-Oh, hum yeah thanks I’d like that, I didn’t see you here, sorry if bothered you.
-No it’s fine.
I got up to help her put her things in the cabinet (where it could fit because damn the girl had at least a hundred kilos of clothes), and she sits in front of me, extending her hand.
-I’m Violet, nice to meet you!
I shake her hand before introducing myself.
-Y/n, nice to meet you too.
-I’ve haven’t seen you around, are you in first year? You seem older than that.
-No, I’m actually gonna start my third year, I’m being transferred from Beauxbâtons, I thought I was gonna be in first year but both schools decided that I had the knowledge needed to continue where I stopped.
-Oh that’s cool! I’m also in third year! Maybe we’ll be in the same house after your sorting.
Oh, the sorting, I almost forgot about that detail. I honestly think the idea behind is cool but honestly, putting a hat on my head in front of everyone for it tell my deepest secrets to the entire world (I may be a bit exaggerating but that’s what it felt like to me), is not really my thing.
I let out a sigh and let me head fall on the cushion behind me, while Violet grins before giggling quietly.
-Don’ t worry y/n, It’s gonna go well, it’s a bit stressful but I promise it only lasts like 2 seconds.
-Yeah? God I’m suddenly missing Beauxbâtons’ sorting method.
-By the way, why are you being transferred?
-My parents made me, because of my brother, Sam.
-Wait, you’re Sam’s sister? Sam y/l/n? The Fourth year Ravenclaw that got expelled last year?
-It is me yeah, and yes that idiot is my brother.
-Oh I see, this is gonna be really interesting, Jungwon is sure not gonna like you.
-Excuse me, who?
-Jungwon. He’s in third year too this year, he’s a Gryffindor. Don’t ask me why but your brother and him despised each other, I heard that it was because of the Quidditch, your brother was on Ravenclaw’s team and he is on Gryffindor’s team. They spent the whole first two years bickering with each other about who was gonna win the cup, and when your brother got expelled Jungwon got all cocky saying they were gonna win now.
-I see, I have some stuff to dig in, but I’m gonna make sure this kid understands we are not the same person and he has no reason to hate me, and if he still does I guess I’ll have to apply to be in the Quidditch team, make him see how talented we are in the family.
Violet’s eyes opened wide before she bursted out laughing.
-I like that y/n, keep up that attitude and you’ll make my school year 10 times more exciting.
-I take that as a compliment.
The rest of the travel got by pretty fast, with Violet telling me all about the drama between my brother and this Jungwon guy, and it was honestly amusing. I just hope he doesn’t cause me trouble.
Arriving at Hogwarts was actually truly fucking amazing, Sam didn’t lie to me about that one for sure. We went to the castle by carriage in the forest and even if it was a bit cold, the ride was really appreciable. I’ve always liked the cold breeze on my face more than the sun.
When we arrived we were told our baggage would be taken to the hall and to the rooms, mine right after my sorting.
We entered the halls and a lot of students were already there, sitting at the tables, not caring at all about the sorting but only about the delicious buffet that was gonna take place after. The director, Dumbledore, an old man with a long white beard, asked for silence and started giving his speech welcoming all of the new students. He looked ahead of him and stared at me for a few seconds before diverting his eyes somewhere else in the crowd. Looks like someone already knows who I am.
Then, Professor McGonagall, apparently a brilliant woman by the say of my brother, explained how the sorting was gonna go. Once she was done, she took out a list and before I could understand what was happening, she said my name. All eyes turned on me, not the first years of course, and I knew it was time.
I breathed in and walked to the chair in front of the director, before turning around and sitting.
Then, I felt the sorting hat being put on my head, and seconds later it started to speak.
-Hum, I see, a y/l/n. But you are different from your brother on a lot of points. I see loyalty, for your friends and family, you’re not scared to protect the people you love. But you are on the contrary really accepting, you have a high moral and you’re not afraid to say when something is wrong or right. Hard work is also important for you and you strongly believe that you have nothing without working for it. I think I know where to put you…
I closed my eyes and breathed out, ready to hear the sorting hat decide my fate.
-Hufflepuff!!!
I guess it’s not that bad, I like Hufflepuff, from what I know from it.
I stood up and started walking towards my table before hearing a voice I knew well now.
-Y/n!!
Standing right next to the Hufflepuff’s table was Violet, a smile on her face, waving her hand at me.
I smiled back and went to her, giving her a hug. We sat next to each other right before the buffet appeared. A long and never ending table of stuffed pies, rotisserie chickens, mashed potatoes, veggies, fruits, candies, cookies and so much more. Violet and I looked at each other before digging in and getting ourselves some well deserved food.
-You’re also in Hufflepuff I’m so happy, we’re gonna have all of our classes together!
-I know, I’m really happy to have at least one friend already, and actually, you were right, the sorting wasn’t that bad.
-See, told you.
-The only bad thing about it is the smell of the hat. I honestly don’t know if they washed that thing at last once in the past century.
We both laughed at that and we were enjoying the dinner, getting the know each other, since I was gonna share the school year with her, when I felt like someone was staring at me. I mean, a lot of people were staring at me at first but then went on with their lives, I wasn’t the main attraction, only the sister of some dude who got expelled, nothing to get excited about. But I could feel like someone was still staring at me, you know the kind of stare you can feel burning holes through your head. I turned around, trying to find the culprit when my eyes landed on the table of the Gryffindors, and on one particular boy. He was delicate looking, with sharp eyes but soft features.
Violet who was talking to me noticed I wasn’t paying attention anymore and turned around to see me having a staring contest with the boy, before I turned around to face her again.
-Don’t tell me anything, Jungwon isn’t it?
-Yep, seems like he’s already curious about the sister of his arch nemesis.
I playfully elbowed her and rolled my eyes at her comment. Seems like this year is gonna be full of drama.
