feeling not only physically but also emotionally like fucking garbage is unfortunately an extremely effective way to force your body to prioritize fighting infection & keeping you alive. i don’t have to like it, but knowing why i get weepy & pathetic when sick does help at least a little

youll go to restaurants with your friends of 10 years and accidentally stay until closing because youre so engrossed in one another, then wonder why societal expectations say you wont be happy until you find someone to be "more" than "just" friends with. maybe someday i'll find The One, but if you think im letting small talk with tinder dates get in the way of slipping back into hearts and minds that grew alongside mine until we were all us-shaped? well then. youre just another person who doesnt get me at all

Probably the most supportive cis people I’ve befriended or just been around have just treated being trans as some shit that happened to me when I was younger. Like on par with being from California or having a younger brother sort of thing.

My favorite way a cis friend has referred to the time when I was living in girl mode is “when you were a young warthog”.

Like yeah Roman is trans, Jess’ brother is a dick, Rob over there has ten siblings. Same tone. Same level of importance.

when i first moved in with my roommate, she was constantly throwing up and attributed it to some unexplainable chronic issue. after a year with me here, she's learned a lot about proper food preparation and storage, as well as having me sort of on top of managing groceries, and she almost never gets sick like that anymore.

anyway i think that woman might be one of a kind but just in case she's not: if you find yourself having frequent tummy troubles with no clear explanation... maybe just. try refreshing your food safety knowledge. (also don't forget to wash your water bottle). like, chances are you've been doing everything right and there's some other reason. but there's a nonzero chance that something you assumed was common sense is actually incorrect and you've been repeatedly making yourself sick.

people think kitchen management is totally easy and intuitive (prolly something to do with it being degraded as "women's work" but i digress) but there's science to food safety. and the people who raised you may have failed to teach you properly, whether through negligence or through not knowing everything themselves. it can't hurt to double check your knowledge here, just in case.
