Just saw someone on twitter compare Criston Cole to Jaime Lannister and I just know GRRM woke up in a sweat the minute that was tweeted.
Im begging you to read the material, or to at least have some fucking media literacy to the few episodes you’ve watched.
Jaime is arguably one of the worst people in the ASOIAF universe. He has done bad shit, he has broken oaths, he has sullied his cloak, he has murdered and he has lied. So has Criston. The main difference? Jaime embraces it. Jaime hates himself. He knows the shit he’s doing is not in any way honorable, and he keeps doing it, he takes joy in some of the things he does and absolutely hates some other. But can you read between the lines? He has never once called what he has done good, or said that he has good intentions, he’s a little bitch and we love it. Instead, Criston waltzes around the keep sanctimoniously, does he hates himself for the shit he does? I think he only hates what his actions mean for his so called honor. He’s a hypocrite, and doesn’t have one redeeming quality.
Like, Criston seems flat in comparison to all the dimensions you can find in only one scene with Jaime. I say this as a book fan AND a show fan. I love Criston as a character, and to compare him with the depth that GRRM added to the beauty that is Jaime’s characterization is a dishonor to his writing. Shame.

thinking about how. thoughout the books, we see percy become percy jackson. and it carries so much weight. it's percy jackson, and hoo really confirms that. but in the show it's percy and they give his first and last name and they're tossing it around like it's nothing and i just can't wait for percy to become percy

Can’t believe it’s been 50 years since:
“If you were really in love you wouldn’t have missed.” “Time comes for us all Goncharov.” “We’re just meat to them Joe. Remember that.” “I dream of you every night, but I can no longer remember your face.” “If you are a snake, then I am Eve’s trembling hands.”

the thing about going to destiel is that you know so much and at all times you are having to spend 95% of your energy suppressing the urge to talk about the knowledge you have the burden of carrying

I hope that when the day comes that Palestine is free, people don't expect everything to suddenly be alright overnight, because that won't be the end of it. There's this thing called intergenerational trauma that as an Indigenous person on Turtle Island, let me say, can fuck a People up for a long time. It will take generations to recover from such catastrophic and longstanding colonial violence. And when current leftist allies start back-peddling on their support and villainizing Palestinians if they aren't "perfect citizens" (a measurement that is highly westernized anyway), remember that trauma, especially on such a large scale, does things to people. What I'm saying is, the support shouldn't end there.
