A weird fun fact about me:

I don’t know why, probably some weird fluke of my various hormonal disorders, but spiders are naturally drawn to me.

When I first noticed it, it was “oh, it’s weird that the house spiders tend to cluster around my desk specifically”! But over time it got…. more intense and personal. They crawl on me, and I’ve learned to gently brush them off rather than hurting them, because I love spiders. It’s not their fault my hormones make me seem like a safe place for them.

These days, I legitimately don’t even reflexively slap at a bug-like tickling on my arm…. because it is probably a spider friend. The spiders are actively drawn to me. I don’t know why. I have no control over it. But my wife will tell me “one of your children just tried to crawl into my bra”, and I legitimately feel responsible for my spider children’s indiscretions. They’re usually so polite. You can usually just shake them off and they’ll leave you alone.

THEY’RE GOOD SPIDERS, BRENT. Let my small many-legged friends live.
