During my first astral projection experience, I didn’t even know I had projected. It was by complete accident. I woke up, saw that it was too early, and rolled back to sleep. When I woke up again, I was on my back this time and I felt… tingly. Like my entire body was made of pop rocks.
I tried to move, but couldn’t.
Your body chemically paralyzes itself in sleep so you won’t act out your dreams. We call it sleep paralysis, and sometimes we can wake up while still paralyzed.
In this case, I thought, that's a bit annoying. And tried to force myself to “snap out” of by moving my limbs.
I tried once. I failed. Twice. Still couldn’t move.
Third times the charm—except, I still couldn’t move—but I also was moving. Just not physically.
That energy body, which is present beneath our skin, is as real and believable as the body you’re reading with right now. And as I sat up in this energy body, I felt… good, oddly enough, but I also felt like something was wrong.
My room looked like my room, of course, but my body was still tingling like fizzy soda.
I looked down.
Oh.
I'm not in my body.
I remember thinking, “Did I die?” As I was staring at my own body.
That was the first time I had ever brushed against the unknown. That was when I learned that there is more to this reality than what meets the eye.
