...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category
It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:
It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall
You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are
While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.
For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.
historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have 😔

I've used "but I was taught to use forks by right handed people" as a hashtag about fork use, and using a fork in my left hand as a left handed person.
Not the wording I was going for, but when it came up in the suggestions, I felt it was appropriate for the cultural influence vibe.

okay now I'm curious and I dunno if this is really such an archaic foreign thing to young people today or if I'm just out of touch
Please reblog, I'd love to see a lot of responses!

UKPOL / 25-06-25 / DISABILITY RIGHTS
TEXT FOR YOUR LABOUR MP THIS WEEK: (please turn your fucking timestamps on)
Concerning the proposed PIP reforms, I wanted to be sure that you had seen Frances Ryan's column in the Guardian:
In which she states:
"Charities and disabled people’s organisations including Scope, Spinal Injuries Association, Inclusion London, ME Association and WinVisible told the Guardian that tightening eligibility for personal independence payments (Pip) would mean disabled women being discriminated against, due to their higher personal care needs compared with men."
As someone who has a consistent voting record in favour of women's rights (hugely appreciated, thank you), I was hoping this would influence your voting decision.
I also wanted to express my admiration for your 100+ colleagues in refusing to back something which will push many disabled people into irrecoverable poverty, and in particular to offer my sincere thanks to Vicky Foxcroft for taking the principled stand of resigning as a whip over this issue.
---
My personal email included:
Several of my friends are constituents of Vicky's and the majority of them are disabled and in receipt of PIP, and it is heartening to see that she has been responsive to their oft-expressed and urgent calls to support them.
If your MP does not have voting record that is positive about women's rights, frame it as an offer to improve that record.
You can find out about their voting record here:
please personalise your email as much as you can! Are you disabled? Is someone in your family disabled? Talk about the impact! Is your MP one of that 120+?
You can find that part out here:
If they're one of the rebels, please write and thank them; if they're not, please urge them to reconsider.
If you're lucky enough to have a Lib Dem or Green MP, you can still keep the part about 100+ colleagues, but include something like "I am asking you to stand up to Labour".
If you are unfortunate enough to have a Reform or Conservative MP, try framing it as "are you going to let Labour get away with this"
