If you had asked me what colour the monkey’s vest is, I would probably had said green. Because that’s what I’m used to seeing, that’s what the most featured productions have, that’s usually what the Monkey Girl in Masquerade wears. Then I started looking into what the individual productions featured, and lo and behold! Red seems just as common for the vest. Now, I’ve always known the Swedish/Danish one wore a red vest, but I thought it was an anormality. Turns out, he’s just one of many.
I think the main division is that the original West End production featured a red vest, and hence also many of the productions to follow in Europe, Australia and Japan. But then green was done for the original Broadway one, and so the US & Canadian productions did green shades. Both shades are in use today.
Yay so that’s a wrap on this sort-of “non-cannon” segment of the Uggo/Ugly Club. Gonna go on hiatus for a bit while I get my ducks in a row for the re-launch. I think you guys will like what I’ve got planned. (I hope!) In the mean time I may still post occasional one-offs like the “making fun of dead authors cuz they can’t yell at me” comics. Stay tuned :) Thank you all so much for your support, and I hope everyone has a happy holiday season! ❤️
I just opened my RedBubble shop where you can find my by Gaston Leroux’s novel inspired “Phantom of the Opera” pictures. If you’re looking for merchandise inspired by the original story, please check it out and spread the word. I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you 💕!

If it's not too much trouble, do you know of any bootlegs in which the Rat Catcher is visible? The only one I can think of is the 1994 Eiji Akutagawa video and it's a mere blurry glimpse :(
None come to mind, unfortunately. It’s so dark in that scene, and the filmers often don’t pan up from the boat in "Down Once More” fast enough. You could look at some of the old monitor recordings with wide shots of the whole stage, but even then I can’t imagine the quality will be any better than a blur.
EDIT: here’s one from Stuttgart in 2003. Not great, but not a total blur?
