God and Compost
It’s now just passed mid-November and NaNoWriMo is over half way through! I am pleased to say that just over 22,000 words had been penned at the halfway mark for this new novel that I am working on. I had an idea for this novel as I outlined at the end of last month. Although I have been working on this idea, I have not had any clear plans about a title for this novel.

The Purple Hills by Alissa Callen
The Purple Hills by Alissa Callen
I downloaded this novella recently on Amazon after a search for some more horse reads. The main characters of Alissa Callen’s The Purple Hillsare an audiologist returned to her country town due to an ailing father and a single father who is a horse chiropractor. I enjoy reads set in the country, I guess quite often because that’s where the horse stories are. And of course, reading stories…

Hobby-Horsing as a Sport in Finland
Hobby-Horsing as a Sport in Finland

Whilst reading Jean O’Malley Halley’s Horse Crazy, there was a reference to hobby-horsing. Apparently this sport has built from fantasy horseback riding. It now appears to be a sport where people ride around on props that are essentially sticks with a horse head on top. And these are utilised with riders going over jumps and even carrying out dressage tests. How unique!

Saving Grace by Amanda Wills
Saving Grace by Amanda Wills
I recently downloaded a copy of the short story Saving Grace by Amanda Wills. This story features Poppy McKeever of the Lost Pony of Riverdale series. It is a free download for those on Amanda’s mailing list. In this novel, Poppy finds a black and white cob filly on the side of the road, hit by a car and left for dead.

TeamViewer for Horse Client Computers
TeamViewer for Horse Client Computers

I recently had an issue with my author email and control panel of my site. I could update my website, but not login to the panel to see if I could problem solve the email account issue. And so I went to my webhost to see if he could fix the problem. He suggested I download TeamViewerso that he could look into the issue for me. And after this experience, I wonder if this free program could be…

Horses and a Testimony
Horses and a Testimony
Recently at church our pastor challenged us to consider how simple it is to tell our testimony. He asked us to consider our response to statements similar to:
Before Jesus I was…
Then Jesus found me and I became…
Because of Jesus my life’s purpose is…
I am making disciples through…

Horses at Last (Kangaroo Kids #1) by Helen Webster
Horses at Last (Kangaroo Kids #1) by Helen Webster
I have two copies of Horses at Last and have recently discovered that a new family in our church has a pre-teen who enjoys horse books. So I thought I’d pass along a copy to her, but wanted to read it first to double check the content. Horses at Last is set in Australia and follows a recent move of twin brother and sister Jason and Nikki from Sydney to the country.
The twins are rapt to find…

Horse Crazy by Jean O'Malley Halley
Horse Crazy by Jean O’Malley Halley
Pony books for horse crazy girls are an incredible genre. I write within this genrein the twenty first century, having both a series for middle grade readers as well as one for young adult readers. I also write various novels for adult horse book fans and find that all of these books are read, though the middle grade series is the most read. And it seems this has been the case for many young…

Four Days of Freebies
Four Days of Freebies

Things have been quiet on the writing/publishing front of late and I wanted to bless readers with the chance to access some of my books for free.
I have the next Thoroughbred Breedersbook complete – it just needs to be proofed and published, but is currently on the backburner until I find time to address this! I also have a few other horse books in the works, but little time to focus on them…

12 Months Changes a Lot!
12 Months Changes a Lot!
July was a busy, busy, busy month for me! I picked up full time work for the month on top of attempting a Camp Nano challenge of penning 50,000 words. Oh, and did I mention I have a husband and 3 kids under 5? 🙂
It is amazing to me how different taking part in Camp Nano for 2019 was to doing so for 2018.

Sweetbriars: Tabby's Big Year by Hollie Anne Marsh
Sweetbriars: Tabby’s Big Year by Hollie Anne Marsh
I was recently contacted by Hollie Anne Marsh to see if I would be interested in reading and reviewing the next book in the Sweetbriars series. You can read the review of the first book on Equus Education. Tabby’s Big Year focuses on the life of twelve year old Tabitha alongside her close friends Cate and Violet.
Tabby’s life appears to be an incredible roller coaster for such a young…

Merck Manual for Horse Owners
Merck Manual for Horse Owners
I have been working on the next unit of online resources for some of our equine students at work. They are looking at physiology of the horse across its various systems. Digestive, integumentary, reproductive, endocrine, etc. One website that we have referenced and guided students to a few times is the Merck Manual Veterinary Manual. The Merck Manual for Horse Owners is a great resource!

Secret Heart (Hearts of Three Rivers #4) by Amity Lassiter
Secret Heart (Hearts of Three Rivers #4) by Amity Lassiter
I downloaded Secret Heart recently when searching for free horse related books on Amazon. This story focuses on single mother Layla, her son Mason and the man who is the father of her child, Nate.
Layla has grown up in a family that takes whatever they can get. They are lazy and willing to work the system to get ‘paid’ so that they can live the luxurious life they desire. Desperate to get…

Compromise Horses Heal Souls by Anna Rashbrook
Compromise Horses Heal Souls by Anna Rashbrook
Compromise is the second book by this author that I have read, the first being Challenger. The two novels are loosely related with some characters that are in both stories. But readers are able to read them as standalone novels. In Compromise, Molly finds herself struggling with the day to day tasks involved in her job in a local riding stable.

Zoe’s Zebra by Catherine Florang
Zoe’s Zebra by Catherine Florang
I downloaded Zoe’s Zebra for free recently on Kindle. This children’s book is a very short story with many fitting pictures included. The author has written the book as well as provided the ‘illustrations’. Though rather than drawings, these appear to be photos taken of toys – a zebra as well as a young girl that represents Zoë.
