Quote
She liked messy beds and movie nights without any lights on. She liked the quiet company of a few good friends. Her idea of love was gentle and silent, like a whisper of a touch. Some things are magical and magic, contrary to popular opinion, is often found in the most ordinary of places.

BORGIA — ROSS CONTEXT ;
in 1455, alfonso de borgia from spain was made pope and ruler of the catholic church from rome. he was the first of the borgia family to set foot in the church and had soon become one of the most powerful men in renaissance times. in 1492, rodrigo borgia followed his footsteps, becoming pope and quickly assigning his family roles to ensure their power and place. but the borgias were a family of many secrets and scandals — cesare borgia’s alleged murder of his brother to become a military leader himself, his so-called relationship with his sister lucrezia, his backstabbing ways against his own men. lucrezia and her probable many relationship out of marriage, being tossed around like a rag doll for political reasons, married off to men from spain and france for alliances that never lasted. deeply disliked by the italian public, the borgias made home of the country nonetheless, conquering city upon city, slaying enemies and friends alike as they went with no real enemies strong enough to stand in their way.
but with power comes responsibility few of them were willing to take, and when rodrigo was found dead it was up to his son to carry on the legacy of the family, no longer with the church’s support. pride, lust, and arrogance killed cesare, and lucrezia lived her last years in a marriage filled with love, but devoid of real power. italy restored to normal. the borgias had achieved nothing.
and that was it. or, that was supposed to be it.
in 1976, siena bosco was born in rome, italy. her parents drilled it into her head from a young age — she was a distant child of the borgias, a rightful heir to a throne that no longer existed, and siena ate it all up as if it was her last meal. she came to adore who she believed to be her distant relatives despite their ruthless, merciless nature. she, too, could be evil if needed.
in 1991 she met a man in paris, france. the man was lewis ross, scottish — rich. siena feigned love until she had trapped him and promised her a child. she would restore this family to its former glory, even if society had changed, even if there no longer was anywhere to rule. stuck in her own head, even when isabella and later cressida were born, siena would not give up on her impossible dream. her daughters would be her political weapons no matter how much grooming it would take.
she did not think they’d put up as much resistance as they did.
loveless marriage built on lies. siena sought out a lover in 2014, and early the year after she got pregnant with his son. an heir, she believed, and whilst the son was not lewis’ she could pass it up as his for the fortune he would leave.
had it not been for the damn daughters.
simple tinkering with the brakes on her car would solve that problem forever, and she insisted upon letting the two ross siblings use her car for their summer trip through europe. they said their farewells, for the last time siena hoped, and drove away.
getting rid of both was the goal, but the accident only took one life. the death of isabella and siena’s inability to feel anything but anger crushed the marriage she had had with lewis. sending his ex-wife back to rome after learning about her affair, lewis sold his house in milan and took his only daughter with him to paris, where his heart still belonged. cressida would never become a borgia, but would instead follow in her father’s footsteps, and willingly so, at st. valentin.
borgia blood runs deep, but it could never touch cressida ross.
