Me n my brother were joking around about an AU where Apollo becomes an attorney in Khura'in instead of being sent to [Japanifornia] as a kid. He's the sole defense attorney still practicing and everyone thinks this man is either the dumbest or bravest person the entire country (Nahyuta thinks he's both), doubly so since his connections to the Defiant Dragons aren't exactly a secret. He loses a case at one point but pulls a Zak Gramarye and just fucking dips before they can catch him. And is only seen in public again when he has a new client. They can't arrest him during that person's trial but once that not guilty is secured he's just gone again. The cycle continues. Ga'ran wants this mf dead.

Can I tell you a pet peeve I have with this fandom I know it’s silly but I feel ill (metaphorically speaking) when I see art of Edelgard standing for trans rights or or an standing as ally of justice as their protector because it feels so tone deaf. It’d be like using Ashnard or any other red emperor to stand for justice and equally and it rubs me the wrong way with everyone going on in real life right now when if anything she’s much closer to the Israel the Russia the oppressive United States regime don’t put her with that stuff she’d stomp on that too that’s gross. She blames a race for everything, wants to eradicate said race and thinks human strength is everything despite cheating (getting everything done sign godly power AND her rule is only with her close associates) and the rules don’t apply to her. And despite many real world examples right NOW people still don’t get it. But like I said, pet peeve there are larger issues at stake I just wanted to vent because I keep seeing it
I try to shy away from topics like this because I don't like to cramp on anyone's fun when it comes to using their favs to signal for rights. So I'll keep this brief.
People have wrapped Edelgard and her ideals in a progressive blanket, despite the fact that the main significant mark against her actions are being royalty and invading other countries. You can't be for whatever progressive movements, and launch a war to kill people in order to "force the world to change."
It's weird, I'll never understand that, but I don't have to. I just keep my distance.
For trans rights speficially? Well I have no clue because the writers of 3H dropped the ball in terms of misogyny, ethnicity, ability and class structure, and mostly stumbled into gay romances, so anything about gender or trans issues would be a hard sell for any character in that game to say, not just Edelgard. So, live and let live, I guess.

Had a nice talk with a friend on the FE fandom and why IMHO it's by far the most toxic of any JRPG or Nintendo community I've been in, because while many fandoms are worse in how toxic it is, in terms of how much people cannot have a fucking wank over subjectivities, Fire Emblem is by far the worst of the lot. Like, compare to basically every other JRPG fandom out there, and they aren't nearly as stuck-up or toxic as FE fans can be.
SMT? Pretty gatekeep-y for the most part, but the fandom actually understands the divide between alignments and I've had a good time talking about the Law alignment and why I like it.
Persona? Very chill for the most part, they just get really obnoxiously weird over things deemed "problematic" like FeMC/Ken and see it as a virtue to bash people who like the ship while hypocritically simping for Kawakami, but for the most part, they're alright.
Pokémon? An argument can be made they're as bad as FE is, but unlike FE, a.) Genwunners and those kinds of old-school elitists are never taken seriously, and b.) barely anyone in the communities actually likes the direction the series has been going in in terms of sheer quality, so I can't fault it.
Final Fantasy? Not really as bad, given you don't need to prove your cred to admit you like a game or not or think it's good, especially when a lot of the favorite punching bags aren't even misunderstood, they're just outright bad (like Final Fantasy 13 and 15, which are, uh... interesting).
Sonic? Aside from how divided people are on what the "golden age" of Sonic is, most people are pretty chill memelords within those fandoms.
Tales of? Extremely chill overall.
Dragon Quest?
Same as Tales of.
HoYoverse? Can be very toxic, but not to the same degree of "you have the wrong opinion for liking x and aren't allowed to talk about it in a positive fashion", but it's not really elitist barring some really bizarre grognards who played stuff like Honkai Gakuen or some shit.
Drakenier? Perfectly fine fandom, if unhinged.
Danganronpa? Absolutely terrible fandom, but to its credit, it's one of the least elitist fandoms out there. You can get away with thinking Danganronpa 3 is good and not be judged for it.
Hell, even Smash Bros.? Melee fans are intolerable, but there's enough recognition of the problem and enough backlash to the worst of the fandom's seediest elements that it really balances out. There is at least some discourse against these people.
The FE fandom bugs me as much as it does due to how uniquely authoritarian it is as a fandom when it comes to enforcing its consensus. It's all about gatekeeping and elitism, and both old fans and new fans do this and act like they're so much smarter and better than you for knowing things you simply don't, while my heart is openly stomped upon because I gush about FE Fates or some shit. Hell, you can't make any kind of post talking about how you loved Fates's story without dealing with a cavalcade of people willing to shout you down or act triggered over it instead of just being chill about a differing opinion, which fucking sucks given all I want is to talk about a series I love without being completely shut down by a bunch of tryhards with too much free time and an incessant desire to prove how "smart" they are. And the worst part is the constant gaslighting that it "isn't actually a problem" even when they constantly talk down to you in a passive-aggressive way and deny anyone who may have the "wrong" opinion; the sentiment is still there, and the fact we're just supposed to blindly accept the opinions of the biggest name fans as gospel and not question or deviate from it in any way is a major reason why the FE fandom is IMHO the worst in the video game sphere, given it's the worst of both worlds for both a mainstream and niche game series. The only franchises I can think of that are even close to as bad as FE are the SCP and Umineko fandoms, and the former is arguably worse due to the pretentious elitism being institutional, and even, Umineko fans aren't nearly as bad as FE fans given they're united in their love for 07th Expansion, they just can act so smug due to thinking it's so deep and being arrogant at how powerful their series is in terms of battle-boarding.
I would disagree, mostly because the consideration of what's toxic is very different from fandom to fandom.
Like, despite not playing Persona (though I pretty much know the stories in many of the games) and falling off of Pokemon after Gen 5, the rampant localization discourse and queer discussions in the former, and the Pokedex debacle in the latter, were like, cultural zeitgeist type of toxic. I don't have to look for them, they just ended up on my feed when they happened.
FE has had that happen too, but again it was mostly localization stuff, sexualization, etc. Though I'd still say, it's not really reached the level yet? And there's still specifications at play.
Other JRPGs (and other very popular anime-art style games) don't have as many random elements for stat growth or combat, aren't as completely open-ended in character use like FE, don't have multiple chains of writing for every character, etc. Unlike some games, FE operates on a structure that allows it to be accessible for a larger variety of people despite its comparatively niche genre.
We have something unique cooking in the FE community, so we get unique brands of toxicity, however, I believe it's not strictly better or worse for the most part.
