Sounds like the proper course of action is to ditch the kid.

@eclecticcrafting, I did straight stitching in 3 directions, basically connecting point to point. The effect is a bicycle spoke pattern, and a very effective visual. It enhances the shapes. Of course, regular quilting with any pattern would be fine, too.
Here's a couple of my EPP's, same method.
I used a pale thread on both. But you could have some fun with a variegated, too.

Question for the paper piecing quilt community particularly those that make hexie quilts or intricate blocks- how do you finish the quilt? Like when you are combining the quilt top, batting, and backing? Do you stitch in the ditch? Do you use a quilting stencil and a free motion foot?
I want my next quilt to be a hexie quilt but I’m not sure how the finishing process would look!

The butterfly hexi is done! She is about 48x60. The backing is a simple paisley backing. It took me 45 days to piece the top. I took my time on the basting, quilting and binding, so that was another week or so.
It'll be on my Etsy page soon.

It's just been four days, and I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to stop missing this girl. Our hearts are just broken.

We had to say goodbye to our Phoebe today. We had her since she was seven weeks old and she was well past 18 years old. It has been one of the hardest days I’ve ever had letting go of a fur baby. I just miss her so much.

This is exactly how I do EPP, from the magic clip, to the sewing, the locking stitch, etc. I have done thread basting and glue pen basting (the latter of which I prefer). Glue pen refills cannot always be cost-effective, so I think I'm running out this evening to get the Elmer's stick.
Currently working on my 2nd EPP. The other one was last winter.
