. Playing is the best way to train your mind to innovate and be creative. . In another of my occasional series featuring street artists and circus performers I am reminded of the power of music has to evoke and inspire. . “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” — Plato #buenosaires #nikon #travelphotography #portrait #slowtravel #portraitphotographer #circuslife #circusartist #circusarts #circusperformer https://www.instagram.com/p/CoBYmvIvkYV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

. Finding a way to tell a unique story in a location that is very popular can be a bit challenging but quite rewarding if you push yourself to try. “Each one of us has our own evolution of life, and each one of us goes through different tests which are unique and challenging. But certain things are common. And we do learn things from each other's experience. On a spiritual journey, we all have the same destination.” — A. R. . Family life for the people who work in and around the railroad stations in Myanmar. “My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, 'You're tearing up the grass'; 'We're not raising grass,' Dad would reply. 'We're raising boys.’” — Harmon Killebrew . #Myanmar #nikon #familyphotographer #travelportrait #travelphotographer #slowtravel #portraitphotographer #myanmartravel #myanmarphotographer #railroadstation https://www.instagram.com/p/ChQ1IDCvTGn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Perfection is easy but finding a way to craft an image that has some Wabi-Sabi quality, that is perfectly imperfect, is way more fun and engaging. Of all the takes in this session I liked this one the best just because his jacket caught a tiny bit of a breeze and flipped up making the moment feel less posed and more “real”. “A professor must have a theory as a dog must have fleas.” — H. L. Mencken . #hasselblad #professor #locationportrait #wabisabi #myanmarphotographer https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf2tNSVvmyI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One of the great ways to expand your creative portraits is to goto places and meet people you might not otherwise experience. By doing this two gifts happen. One is that you get out of your “comfort zone” and are forced to experience your world in a slightly new way. And two, you meet people whose lives can teach you something about your own that you might not know. “Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” — Thich Nhat Hanh . #Myanmar #nikon #travelphotography #portrait #slowtravel #portraitphotographer #fivestars_people #nun #orphan #monastary #buddhistmonastary #captivatingsmile https://www.instagram.com/p/CffZIAnPR0B/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Taking an active interest in your subjects activities and interests is a great way to learn about their story and find ways to tell their story with contextual elements. “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” — Henry Ford #thailand #nikon #travelphotography #streetexploration #minimalart #simplelife #slowtravel #portraitphotographer (at Lumpinee Park, Bangkok, Thailand) https://www.instagram.com/p/CepV5QnvgOV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One of the biggest challenges in crafting an impactive portrait is getting the subject NOT to pose. It takes time to get past the barrier that the camera creates and make a real connection but it is always worth the effort. “Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” — Sophia Loren #Myanmar #nikon #travelphotography #portrait #slowtravel #portraitphotographer #burmesebeauty #beauty https://www.instagram.com/p/CdhZmroPOUc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Another in my occasional series featuring street artists and circus performers I am reminded that in these very troubled times we need humor more than ever. “Good humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It is a business asset. It attracts and keeps friends. It lightens human burdens. It is the direct route to serenity and contentment.” — Grenville Kleiser #Myanmar #nikon #travelphotography #portrait #slowtravel #portraitphotographer #fivestars_people #circuslife #clowning https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc9Xl3TvV41/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A week or so ago I spent the best part of a day in this monastery in central Myanmar. While I was working I kept noticing this young monk, a novice, was not like the rest of the novices there. There just was something about him that kept grabbing my eye. I let them play with one of the cameras and they all had lots of fun taking turns making images of each other. This one had a somber and quiet way and seemed reluctant to play along with the rest. Later on I got him by a window and was able to articulate his mood in this image. “Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” — Coretta Scott King #nikon #Myanmar #Buddha #novices #orphans #monastery #playingkids #traveldeeper #slowtravel #fivestars_people (at Myanmar) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcrWeX5POUt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
