Also, while I'm thinking about it, Lourdes leaving solidified her leaving her friendship with Michaela.. which in turn means that Mick's now lost a second best friend (at her own hands again, she thinks).
Jared couldn't give less of a damn though, Michaela is clearly in distress over Lourdes and understandably wants to keep her distance. Jared never ONCE respects that. He's uncaring to the fact that this is the second best friend she's lost in such a short time (for her at least, that's something that again he doesn't really seem to care about). Instead, he barely even checks in with her.. he borderline blames and gaslights her.
Especially in the aftermath of Evie, this wasn't the time for Michaela to lose Lourdes- the three Amiga's have successfully been parted and part of me feels as though Jared did this to get Mick mostly alone so she'd be more open to going to him.
Speaking of Evie, it's obvious that Michaela is still reeling from the accident. It's clear that she's still carrying all this guilt. Jared's response? "𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥."
Like, sure buddy, legally she was cleared but personally? Internally? Morally? No way.
Michaela's guilt isn't about the legalities, it isn't about the black and white- the pen and paper. It's about the fact that she was driving the car that killed her best friend, it's that she knew she shouldn't have been driving but she was. It's the fact that two girls went out that night and only one came home alive.
That's what Mick can't shake. She can't shake that she got behind the wheel, knowingly, and it resulted in the death of the woman that was practically her sister. She can't justify that she's alive and Evie isn't. That's what the guilt is. Not whatever the fuck Jared was on about.
Contrast this with Zeke who, similarly to Mick, was in some way responsible for someone's death. In his case, it's Chloe. Chloe and Evie have next to nothing in common, except that their respective companions harbor relentless guilt for their deaths. Zeke understands her pain, not only because it so closely mirrors his own but also because he's understood Michaela from the moment he met her.
Jared may have loved her once.. but it feels more like now, she's just something he covets. What she wants, and what she feels, no longer matters. Her happiness also no longer matters to him "he was supposed to be gone, Mick."
He said that despite and regardless of the fact that Zeke clearly makes Michaela happy, he'd rather her be in agony than let her go. That isn't love.

Those people should definitely apologize but the fact that people scrolled all the way down the moment the casting was announced to see if any had said something bad 10 years ago… y’all have nothing else to do
And I just know that people were quick to jump on that because they didn’t like the casting.

I just wanna say… Because of course there’s discourse about this when the first episode hasn’t even finished dropping…
Yes, Sporty Spice is 17, and so to say that he’s beyond redemption is a bit much for people who are way past their teen years (like me). From where I stand, Ol’ Sport still has so much room to grow and no one’s teen years should define them because people change so much once they’re out the frankly toxic environment of high school.
But like, also, Nikolai Magnusson was 20/21 in Skam s2, and where I stand, 20/21 is also not that old and people can still grow so much at that age. Yet, Nikolai wasn’t redeemed in Skam, I think most people don’t even remember the reasons Mari gave to excuse his behavior, and the people who do remember, don’t think those reasons were a good enough excuse (or explanation) for why he made Noora think he’d sexually abused her for weeks or why he plied her with alcohol after emotionally manipulating her or why he took pictures of her naked and threatened to leak them.
Possibly surprising news to some, but Sporty Spice is a fictional character, not an actual person. Whether he gets a redemption arc or not depends entirely on the role the Druck writers think he should play within the season. If they think their story makes more sense if Covid denier is redeemed, they’ll go that way. And if they don’t, then he won’t be. And if they choose not to redeem him, it won’t mean that they think people are beyond redemption, because characters like Björn or Erwa were never redeemed and yet people don’t think Druck as a whole doesn’t believe in redeeming mean characters. Again, if Sporty Spice’s role in this story is the villain, it’s not a commentary on real teens’ chances at actual change, but Sporty playing the role he was assigned in this story.
I’m not surprised that the discourse is going this way, because lol this was always going to happen once they picked Ismail as their s7 main. Some people think none of the instas are redeemed yet (including Kieu My or Finn or Zoe), other people think some of them are redeemed and should cast aside the bad apples asap, and finally there are people who think ALL of them are aight and don’t want them to have squad drama with themselves because they’re basically family to each other and have stuck with each other this long. So of course there are going to be arguments when opinions vary this much.

To All the Film Communities in The World and Who Loves Film and Cinema!
My name is Sahraa Karimi, a film director and the current general director of Afghan Film, the only stated-owned film company established in 1968.
I write to you with a broken heart and a deep hope that you can join me in protecting my beautiful people, especially filmmakers from the Taliban. In the last few weeks, the Taliban have gained control of so many provinces. They have massacred our people, they kidnapped many children, they sold girls as child brides to their men, they murdered a woman for her attire, they gauged the eyes of a woman, they tortured and murdered one of our beloved comedians, they murdered one of our historian poets, they murdered the head of culture and media for the government, they have been assassinating people affiliated with the government, they hung some of our men publicly, they have displaced hundreds of thousands of families. The families are in camps in Kabul after fleeing these provinces, and they are in unsanitary condition. There is looting in the camps and babies dying because they don't have milk. It is a humanitarian crisis, and yet the world is silent.
We have grown accustomed to this silence, yet we know it is not fair. We know that this decision to abandon our people is wrong, that this hasty troop withdrawal is a betrayal of our people and all that we did when Afghans won the Cold War for the west. Our people were forgotten then, leading up to the Taliban's dark rule, and now, after twenty years of immense gains for our country and especially our younger generations, all could be lost again in this abandonment.
We need your voice. The media, governments, and the world humanitarian organizations are conveniently silent as if this "Peace deal" with the Taliban was ever legitimate. It was never legitimate. Recognizing them gave them the confidence to come back to power. The Taliban have been brutalizing our people throughout the entire process of the talks. Everything that I have worked so hard to build as a filmmaker in my country is at risk of falling. If the Taliban take over they will ban all art. I and other filmmakers could be next on their hit list. They will strip women's rights, we will be pushed into the shadows of our homes and our voices, our expression will be stified into silence. When the Taliban were in power, zero girls were in school. Since then there are over 9 million Afghan girls in school. This is incredible Herat, the third-largest city which just fell to the Taliban had nearly 50% women in its university. These are incredible gains that the world hardly knows about. Just in these few weeks, the Taliban have destroyed many schools and 2 million girls are forced now out of school again.

I do not understand this world. I do not understand this silence. I will stay and fight for my country, but I cannot do it alone. I need allies like you. Please help us get this world to cage about what is happening to us. Please help us by informing your countries' most important media what is going on here in Afghanistan. Be our voices outside Afghanistan. If the Taliban take over Kabul, we may not have access to the internet or any communication tool at all. Please engage your filmmakers, artists to support us to be our voice.
This war is not a civil war, this is a proxy war, this is an imposed war and it is the result of the US deal with the Taliban. Please as much as you can share this fact with your media and write about us on your social media.
The world should not turn its back on us. We need your support and your voice on behalf of Afghan women, children, artists, and filmmakers. This support would be the greatest help we need right now.
Please help us get this world to not abandon Afghanistan. Please help us before the Taliban take over Kabul. We have such little time, maybe days. Thank you so much. I appreciate your pure true heart so dearly.
With regard,
Şahraa Karimi

Grishaverse Deep Dive: The Darkling is a Character that lives in a Society.
((spoilers for ALL of the grishaverse))
Ah, yes, Shadow and Bone season 2 is gearing up, the birds are singing, I have a cup of earl grey tea before me -  it is finally time to sit down to talk about the Darkling, and explain his tenuous relationship with the Grishaverse.
The Darkling is a character greatly contested. When simply looking at his motivations, we see a rift in the fandom. Add in his backstory and it fractures even more. When you pepper in the third ingredient of his relationship with Alina, you get an entire war. The Darkling is a divisive character. He gets under our skin and lingers for days afterwards.
I am going to take you on a deep dive of the Darklings character, and try to tease apart the problems that lie within the creation of his character. Why were so many fans betrayed by his ending? How did he muddle the messages of Shadow and Bone, and why is his ending so complicated that it satisfies very few? Today, we’re going to look at The Problem of the Darking: An Essay in Six Parts.
A little history lesson;
So first, allow me to take you back in time, to 2012, when Shadow and Bone was first released.
Two years prior, The Hunger Games Trilogy had finished coming out and, in a rather stunning turn of events, shifted the popular Y.A. category from the genre of the paranormal romance (thank you, Stephanie Meyer) to the dystopian society.
Now, this is not to say that there weren’t dystopian stories prior to The Hunger Games, or that there weren’t paranormal romances in the Y.A. genre afterward. Both have survived, but the boom of dystopian stories and the whimper of paranormal romance was definitely felt.

Ok. Hot take here but I do not trust people who don’t forgive Matthias for his early behavior in SoC.
He was literally a child soldier recruited at a very early age to what was basically a cult after having his family murdered in front of his eyes. He was brainwashed. And even with all that he learns from his mistakes and evolved after being exposed to people different from himself.
He learns to question what he learned. He becomes a batter person AS SOON as the opportunity presents itself, an opportunity that was wasn’t available before he met Nina.
PEOPLE ARE ALLOW TO LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, GUYS!!!! LET PEOPLE GROW AND FORGIVE THEM WHEN THEY DO!!!!
If you don’t even apply this logic to a fictional character, how hard is the judgment you pass on real people?

!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!
Today I will bring to you why representation matters.
The film and literature industry has made a lot of money with great content that they've given the world. But they've also brought about a lot of insecurity among people because of the lack of representation
All the fandoms that I'm a part of has white people as the majority part of the fandom. But there is one particular fandom that I would like to draw your attention to (I'll keep it unnamed because I mean no offense to them) And it makes sense why it is so! Because the characters that are talked about in this fandom are white and the representation of brown characters is neglected mercilessly
And then I finally decided to read Grishaverse. I realised that the void that I have felt within me is real and true, because the lack of representation that has made me feel this way is real. I thought that I will never belong anywhere because I wouldn't be accepted for who I am
Authors like Leigh Bardugo and Tahereh Mafi are a blessing and are Sanktas that I will worship all my life because of how they've made me feel at home with their characters and writing
In the above mentioned unnamed fandom, I started to despise the majorly talked characters (fan favourites, if you will). The fans in this fandom will never understand what it is to be disregarded because they've always been represented, and I've talked about this void and nobody gets it. The characters that they glorify are just a reminder of how white people will always disregard representation
When I read Grishaverse, I could relate to so many of the characters. Whether it be Alina trying to find herself/facing racism, Mal trying to deal with sudden changes, Genya realising the impact of the truth, Tolya and Tamar being on the righteous path, Zoya's character arc, Kaz's touch sensitivity, Inej's faith, Nina's love for food, Jesper neglecting who he is, Wylan's struggle, Matthias not being able to support what he wants because his people have different ideologies.....I have been able to relate to so many of these things and I feel at home here.
I feel safe.
I have long black hair that I always have in a braid. Growing up, I used to beg my mother to cut it short because isn't that what every book and movie represents? Having short hair is what makes you cool? I'd never come across a character that would represent that part of me until Inej. Now when my mom asked me if I wanted to cut my hair, I refused. I told her that I was proud of it....that it was something that I didn't want to change. The look in her eyes made my day. She was so proud of me because I had finally understood what she wanted me to realise whenever she refused to let me cut my hair
I'm overweight. I've always been insecure about the way I look, but Nina changed that for me. I've started to love my body for the way it is because that's who I am! The way I look has nothing to do with the person that I am
But coming back to Inej. Having a strong brown character like her has given me so much hope and motivation, and Amita Suman is an absolute goddess! The way Inej has been written has made me realise that I will be proved wrong one day. That one day, I will be represented in the right way and people will finally realise that what I'm trying to say with this post matters. If I ever meet Amita, I'll probably cry about the fact that she has made me feel at home. I'll thank her endlessly
The Grishaverse fans may fight with each other over toxic issues, but the people that I consider fans and whom I talk with, they have given me so much love and support that I no longer feel insecure! I'm proud of who I am and I've talked so much on the stories of my Grishaverse account, which I don't even do on my art/main account! I've talked about the stories that I write on Wattpad so openly because everyone is incredibly supportive
So that's it
The right representation matters because you will be changing someone's life. If you are a writer, please bring about diversity in your books, and not only for the sake of it. Understand why it is important and necessary that the society's mindset changes
