MAGIC

The world is varied, with as many magic systems as there are nations if not more. With the few exceptions, everyone is capable of performing “un-extraordinary magic.” This entails certain mundane skills that one person has that others do not, such as the ability to sew stitches that won’t unravel or picking the sweetest apples. Individuals are limited to 1-2 skills and sometimes unaware of them, but prevailing theory claims these talents are evidence of people’s ability to command more complicated magic, but for reasons unknown are unable to.

UNIVERSAL

The most common system, and also one of the easier ones to learn. It involves manipulating one’s internal energy to manipulate one’s surroundings. This results in what one may consider to be generic magic, comprised primarily of elemental manipulation spells, telekinesis, etc. Its wide variety of spells also yield low potency. ARCANE we like to use rune symbols in these parts of the world

QUINTESSENCE, AETHER

A powerful, old system that relies on familial spirits. It was once very common in historical times, but has since waned due to its trivialities and complex rituals. Users summon a spirit and bind them as a permanent familiar to channel powerful magic through. The type of magic relies heavily on the user and spirit’s personalities and their bond with each other. Additionally, the spirit is required to have a significant bond to the user in its past life, such as a lover, parent, rival, etc. While the user usually summons a deceased spirit, it is also possible to sacrifice a living soul to become a familiar. This is somewhat frowned upon, but also yields the strongest familiars due to bonds naturally being strong prior to the ritual.
