Back when I was doing the SPLATLOCKE, one of my brothers kinda wanted Alpha dead and us to be "liberated" or some s***.

In order to keep my health (and in turn, Alpha's,) deteriorated, it made a link between our souls so that whenever I lost a battle it'd... um... hurt all of us until we're dead.

We found some way to stop it, but I'm assuming the red ink is just aftermath. No big deal.
